Jeffrey Hick, MD, FAAD

I was worried when I relocated to L.A. that I wouldn’t be able to find a good dermatologist, but Dr. Hick has been fantastic! I could tell it was a busy day, however he sat and listened to all of my questions and gave thought out responses. He was great to work with, and gave great insight and answers to my questions and concerns. He even chatted with me a bit longer about a medical question I had that didn’t pertain to that particular office visit. A very kind, professional demeanor; I’m happy I found him.

I was fortunate to have had someone refer me to Dr. Hick just over a year ago. I’ve been to his Laguna Niguel and Anaheim locations. Both offices have extremely friendly, helpful and efficient staff. In this past year Dr. Hick has done three Mohs procedures on me and all I can say is he is brilliant. He has a pathologist on site that is able to determine if he has gotten clean margins during the actual procedure. This completely eliminates the possibility of having to repeat the procedure or having too much good tissue removed unnecessarily. Last month I visited a Newport Beach plastic surgeon, to inquire about removing a small scar on my forehead. This doctor said he couldn’t because of some reason I still don’t understand, but he did offer to do an (unwanted) eyebrow lift and neck lift for thousands of dollars. Long story short, Dr. Hick just removed the scar, it took about two minutes and it’s healing just fine. Just learned Dr. Hick also teaches at a medical school in Los Angeles. Yes, he’s that good.

Went in for my annual check up and they refused to bill me under preventative care because I asked a question about a some flaking skin on my ear. Ridiculous billing practices. Called multiple times to explain the situation and they would not budge and send the bill to collections (from other reviews this seems to be a standard practice with billing disputes). They would not listen to any explanation and just demanded the bill be paid. Ended up having to work with my insurance company to have the charge reversed which was a huge pain.
