We couldn’t have been happier with the work that Steve did on our front yard. We remodeled the entire front face and front yard of our house. We had a new look and needed something completely different with the landscape. We had a few quotes that were eye popping. Then Steve came along and was MUCH more reasonably priced, but more important he was extremely easy to work with, presented ideas that were tailored to what we wanted, and there was never an issue with scheduling the work… he completed the work when he said he would and never had to reschedule. Additionally, Steve’s staff was great. Extremely efficient and courteous. I would recommend Steve Johnson Landscaping to anyone that was looking to get their landscaping done.

I needed advice on fruit trees, Steve made a home visit for free. Nice man, happy to share his knowledge, consulted on his books for acuracy. I will hire him!

I’m extremely happy with the landscaping work completed by Steve and his crew. We had a very messy weed and overgrowth problem in our yard. We knew that before we decided on a full redesign, we had to do some major cleanup. This was a very big and messy job. Steve was very professional and prompt with his appointments. Then when they completed the work I was left speechless about the results. Not a single weed left. All the clippings were swept up and hauled away. Absolutely amazing how detailed their work was done and so quickly! Definitely calling Steve back to continue working on our yard. Very highly recommended. Thanks Steve!

Steve was outstanding to work with. About 15 years ago, we decided to eliminate grass and create a sustainable low water garden several years ago, long before drought made it a virtual necessity. At the time, it was not easy to find a landscaper who understood or embraced the concepts. Steve was and is an exception. He is well-​versed in lower water, low maintenance plants, and has a great eye for design.
Shortly after completion of the initial project, we received a commendation from a local gardening group. We didn’t ask for it; neither did Steve. It was an appreciation of his creation!
We worked together over the years, evolving and reinvigorating the garden. Now that we’ve moved to Mar Vista, we plan to work with Steve once again to convert our garden to a more sustainable, drought friendly space.
Sadly, the buyer of our Redondo home reverted to grass.

Steve and his team did a great job in redesigning our front and back yards. Steve is clearly passionate and super knowledgable about botany and horticulture, so it was a real treat to talk with him and get his input on what we should do and shouldn’t do in the gardens. We discussed each of the plants in detail and he was able to deliver a great variety of drought-​resistant plants. Also, he’s flexible, results-​oriented, and cares about aesthetics. Overall we are satisfied with the landscape remodel by Steve and his team.

We love Steve Johnson! We contacted him to re-​design our garden because we weren’t happy with the company we’d previously been working with, whose maintenance team often left our plants overgrown and dying so the yard looked messy and in inviting. Steve came in and immediately told us what kinds of plants would grow well in our very damp setting with limited sunlight. Turns out that the plants the previous company had planted weren’t the right kinds of plants for that setting at all! He was very knowledgeable and educated us about why certain plants wouldn’t grow well and which ones would be worth giving a shot. He then sent over a very reasonable estimate, which we accepted, and now we have a whole new, beautiful garden! Steve also listened to my preferences and took into consideration that I love color… so he replaced several plants that had white blooms with new, heartier plants with red and purple blooms! He was responsive and always replied timely to calls and texts, and he was lovely to work with overall! Highly dependable and an expert in his field. He has even offered to make himself available, should we have questions about the plants and their growth in the future. Very grateful for his wonderful service. Thank you so much, Steve!

After an 18+ year association with Steve, I can report that he and his crew provide a quality service for a reasonable fee. I’ve used his company countless times and recommend him to my clients (I design hardscapes and softscapes, draft plans and project manage landscaping jobs).

Steve was creative and very reasonable in price. He did exactly what he said he would do in a timely fashion. His staff was courteous and hard working. We give his company high marks for landscaping.

Steve has been doing landscaping for my parent’s for years and years and so when we decided to do some landscaping for our front and backyard my mom suggested I call him. So glad I did. We have a big gopher problem and Steve helped us go through our options, thinking of not only what might be best to deter gophers but also what would be lightest on our pocketbooks.
In the end he planted a number of gopher resistent plants, I found a list and he made them look really great. They are also plants that do well in the area.

Steve helped design and landscape for our house. He did a great job, especially as the plants and trees have grown. In addition, he has been a great resource by answering questions that have come up over time. I would highly recommend him.
