Ah, Beach Hut, since 2006 you’ve been giving me my Hawaiian fix! That B plate special is enough to feed a small army… or a big man like me! :) This place has gotten plenty of praise and rightfully so! I first encountered Beach Hut through my former boss, he loved this place with a passion; we would come out here once a week. During this last visit, I went with a buddy of mine who loves Hawaiian culture and food. We got there and sat by the window. We heard a friendly, «hi guys!» from the kitchen; that was our server. Within a few minutes she was there with a couple of waters and ready to take our orders. We both got a B plate and split an order of spam musubi. I’ve been reluctant to try spam musubi again since the times I’ve gotten it at L&L’s at Westfield, it was so dry and flavorless it left a bad impression on me. Today Beach Hut changed that, as the spam musubi we had there was sooo tender, soft and flavorful! Makes me want to go back and have some more! Our B plates arrived soon after that. The chow fun noodles, mixed veggies, chicken & steak with some brown rice. was quite a delicious mess. I like to drizzle my terriyaki sauce all over the place to give everything some added flavor. We each inhaled our plates and left feeling just right. Ah, beach hut, we’ll be back soon.

This place has been a tradition since my Junior High School days. Way back when it was a tiny building in El Porto on Highland. Typical day was paddle out for a surf session then on to Beach Hut for a Showgun, Loko Moko, or Chicken Bowl. The grilled Kings Hawaiian bread was the best! Tons of good memories eating here.

Great little breakfast place. It’s very beachy and casual… it’s like walking into a little hut on the beach. You can park in the structure across the street but good lord, watch out for crazy drivers when you’re crossing the street! I haven’t come here yet for lunch but breakfast is always awesome. I love the hot Portugese sausage and eggs. The sweet Hawaiian bread is nice too. My favorite here however is just plain fried eggs with brown rice and teriyaki sauce on the side. The price comes to about $ 4…can’t really beat that!

A local tradition since the early 80s. Best Hawaiian food on this side of the Pacific Ocean. The current location is bigger and now taking all major credit cards. The service here is super friendly and helpful(if you are not sure what to order). My favorite is breakfast #5 — Plenty of Portuguese sausage, eggs, hash and Hawaiian bread. Try 5A if you like the spicier home made Portuguese sausage. Their Spam Masubi is in hearty portions and very tasty. Parking can be difficult. You may find free street parking a few blocks west of the store on Highland Avenue. The best place to park is the city lot across the street.

Service: 3 stars. The service is slow, but they’re very friendly when you see them. Atmosphere: 4.5 stars. Feels like you’re on the movie set of a beach shack. The tans are blinding. Food: 2.5 stars. You’ve cooked breakfast food as good as this. It’s edible. Portions are relatively small. Eggs were well-cooked and seasoned. Chicken teriyaki was good. Biscuits tasted store-bought. Maybe they ran out of the Hawaiian bread everyone on this site is raving about. You’re here for the food, so: 2.5 stars.

The Beach Hut is stellar, all around. Service is pretty good, but nothing to rave about. Nothing bad either, the people who work there are very nice. But from reading some reviews, I was expecting some sort of service on a silver platter: P The teriyaki is super tasty and a bit on the sweet side, almost maple-syrupy. It’s a different taste and a nice change from the typical teriyaki. Their fried rice is AMAZING. Eat that. And smile. Because it’s so delicious. The sweet Hawaiian bread is delicious and has a good texture. No poke but they got everything else. Overall, relaxed and chill environment. Parking can be difficult to find, but weekday morning to noon parking is a breeze.

Let me just say, aloha to you! The place, people, and the food was purrrrrrrfect! My boyfriend and i love this place. We totally will go back again. Here is my run down: 1. Place: cool and relax. So chill its like going to your aunts home and have breakfast, lunch, dinner galore. as you walk in it is really like going into a house. Though, the ocean is not the view however the presence of seeing different people walking the sidewalk and people driving is as spactacular as it can get. 2. People: customer service is one of a kind. Its as if the hawiian gods are surrounding the place With serenity. Very helpful and friendly. Bravo! 3. Food: my favorite. Just because its venue is in manhattan beach known for big and expensive restaurants well, this place isn’t. Its very affordable and delicious! My boyfriend and I both ordered their lunch specialty. And let me say this, normally I don’t mix my teriyaki sauce with nothing but chicken. well, guess what. Their ever famous TERIYAKISAUCE is like the mac to my cheese! It was that good I deep and mix it with everything on my plate. CRUNCHYFRIEDTACOSHELL is also one of the greatest. Good dipping with sauce as well. SWEETHAWIIANBREAD, once again its as if the hawaian gods freshly prepared the bread for us. Another place as one of our favorite spots!

I’ve been here twice now. The very hot sausage is great! I could actually take it a bit hotter, but I’m crazy. I’m definitely coming back to try some of the other tempting items. Parking can be a pain on weekends and they close at 3pm every day I think. I saw a sign outside saying they would be open later starting in July. The service here was excellent both times.

The beach hut is amazing! Everything from the food to the atmosphere to the service is exceptional. Aunty Cindy and everyone else there makes this place the amazing spot it is. Being from Hawaii I often have a craving for some«local food», this is definitely the place to go for the Loco Moco’s, Portuguese Sausage, and Banana Pancakes!

This little gem delivers a delicious Teriyaki Chicken bowl! Two reasons I come here: 1) Ron(Owner? Server) 2) Teriyaki Chicken Bowl w/Hawaiian Sweet Bread [rant] I miss the old days of visiting the OG Beach Hut location on Highland. It was a tiny hole in the wall with misc. stickers practically covering the front windows. Very personal that’s for sure, but I have to admit I like the new location as well and Ron is an AMAZING host. I visit the Manhattan Beach hut with many co-workers at least once a week.[/rant] I pretty much only order the Teriyaki bowls when I eat at the Beach Hut. I find myself favoring the chicken over the beef though. Until recently I had not tried their breakfast. Well, last week I ordered their French Toast. To my delight, the bread they used for the French Toast was the same Hawaiian sweet bread they include with your lunch! WOW it was delicious… quiet honestly the best French Toast I have ever had. My only complaint is the portion size of the French Toast, if they doubled up on the French Toast service size… I’d order this every time I came in(Lunch or otherwise). Yuuuum The portion size of the Bowls never disappoints however… I always leave full. I often bring my co-workers here during the week. I think I might have turned 10+ peeps on to the Beach Hut in the past year alone. I get mad when they go and don’t invite me :( The staff is always friendly and I’m always stoked when Ron serves us. Ron makes any day so much brighter. No matter what, Ron is cheerful and ALWAYS takes care of us with a smile. Did I mention that the food is delicious? Thanks RON!!!

I went here for breakfast after a great surf session at El Porto. The four of us sat in the back near the crayon’s and coloring books and had a gay old time coloring in Hello Kitty and Spiderman. The food was pretty good, but not great. I got the Portuguese sausage and eggs with brown rice and fruit. There were only about 4 pieces of sausage, I would’ve liked a lot more. The scrambled eggs I could tell where just cracked, so props for not being the pre-made carton eggs. My friend got the loco moco and I had a taste, not the greatest, the gravy wasn’t at all too good. My other friend got the seared tuna sandwich that looked really good, and he devoured it in 2 secs. The atmosphere was really nice, with a young crowd, and that wake up late on a sunday morning feel. There was no wait, and we weren’t rushed to leave(we spent a lot of time coloring). The owner and staff were also super nice and friendly, we even had a hug goodbye! Overall a convenient place to hang out and eat after surfing, I’d try something new next time.

Located in the former Little Havana spot, this place is much bigger than it’s previous location across the street. About 8 quads and 4 deuces easily fit into this surfer decorated eatery. A lot of loyal customers keep this place in business. The guy running the front room said he’s been doing this for 35 years, so he’s got to be the proprietor. He’s a very friendly guy with a very easy going attitude. Sorta like an Asian version of Jeff Spicoli on Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He’s the kind of guy that everyone would like to have as a friend. So, 5 stars for the service. I can see why people come back. Now… on to the food. I was anticipating the menu to be like other Hawaiian places. Some Loco Moco, Katsu, Fried Chicken, Lau Lau, Kaluha Pig, etc. I didn’t look at the breakfast menu, so that probably had the loco moco on the menu. I was looking at the lunch menu and it wasn’t as I was hoping. No Katsu, Lau Lau, fried chicken or Kaluha. They got burgers and plates. The plates were pretty much Teri Beef, Teri Chicken, Egg Roll, Curry, Ahi Tuna in a Plate A, B, C, D, E, F, G which basically covers various combinations of those items. Plates are described to be served with veggies, chow fun, rice, salad and sweet bread. I went with the combo of Teri beef, Teri chicken and egg roll. They started me with a salad which was pretty good. cabbage, greens and jack cheese with a vinegar based dressing. Dare I say Italian? I like the cabbage in the salad. The plate arrived pretty quickly and there was two scoops of rice with an egg roll and a pile of stuff. I was expecting Beef, Chicken, Veggies and Chow Fun on the plate. What I wasn’t expecting was for all 4 items to be stir fried together. The Egg Roll was not crispy. It was soggy and oily. I think the oil temp was too low. The stir fry was Meh 2 stars. The egg roll drops it to 1 star, but the friendly service brings it back up to a 2 star experience. I don’t think I will come back.

After a 3 mile workout in the freak heatwave this past Saturday, I was looking for some good grub to quell my hunger. After looking over a few breakfast places Cheryl Y. and I settled on The Beach Hut with it’s Hawaiian flavor. The place is pretty awesome hole in the wall with a pretty steady customer base. The people are friendly but a little on the less attentive side. I ordered the eggs with portuguese sausage since that’s my favorite breakfast food when in Hawaii. I was a little disappointed when the flavors didn’t really come together and give me that«wow» feeling. The sausage lacked the crispness of what I expected and the eggs were pretty bland. Overall the effect was more of poorly made home cooking. The Beach Hut seemed full of promise, but after a disappointing breakfast, I can’t say I’ll be back. I think I’ll stick to Wildflower for my breakfast needs in the future.

My bro and I wanted to get something new so we rolled to this place for breakfast, Service was friendly and quick. The place has a cool vibe, it almost feels like you’re in Hawaii with the weather and eclectic decorations. We both ordered breakfast specials which were very savory and great with the sweet sauce on the side. Will absolutely come back and try everything else on the menu.

I decided to fly to LA to have lunch with a friend(ha! half-kidding. I picked a layover in LAX so I could see my friend and grab lunch). Sometimes I like to pretend that I’m a big deal, but the place we picked to eat would suggest otherwise. This is the most casual, laid-back, I-don’t-care-who-you-are place we could have eaten at. It practically blends into the background(we needed to bust out the iphone GPS to tell us which direction to walk in). When you walk in, they glance at you just long enough to say, «pick a table. seat yourself.» We picked a nice spot next to the window and within a few minutes the waitress asked if we were ready to order. Clearly she has no idea who I am. I am fickle, picky, indecisive, and I just got off a 6 hour flight from NYC. I need a few more minutes… I got the #16 and he got the #17(teriyaki chicken). The only difference was spiciness, which actually made no difference at all, save for maybe 5 pepper flakes. Food was great, perfectly portioned, and came out promptly. The place really shut me up. I have no complaints. You get choices, which is always a plus! You can choose white or brown rice and sweet bread or fruit with your meal. It’s cheap, fast, filling, and service is efficient. I feel like I should replace efficient with something more like«bodacious» or «rad.» I felt like this place was the epitome of LA surfer cuisine. But it was just right. A short walk from the beach. Right on!

I love the very small and authentic diner feel to the place. The tables with the business and ID cards strewn across under the glass top is an excellent idea. Something to look at while waiting for your food. The service is excellent and the food delicious. I was impressed by the portion sizes and was especially impressed at how fast the food came out after ordering. I would highly recommend anything that comes with chicken or eggs. I’ll definitely come back in the future.

My guy loves this place SO much. It is his all-time favorite breakfast spot. It’s like, the cutest little restaurant right next to the beach with the FRIENDLIEST folks working there. My guy used to go there when he was in college and even though he’s not the most outgoing fella, EVERY time we go, somebody(either working there or eating there) recognizes him and says hi. They make two kinds of things for breakfasts – one is like traditional Hawaiian breakfasts with rice and teriyaki sauce. My guy orders that and loves it. But I don’t really care for anything in the soy sauce family, so I tend toward the more traditional breakfast items. And those… aren’t the best. The french toast is just really soggy and the bacon is really floppy. But at the same time, I recognize that I’m ordering the wrong stuff – the stuff everyone loves are the traditional dishes. So I guess my blah-attitude is basically my own fault. Anyway, my guy took me here the morning after he proposed to me, so I feel compelled to incorporate his input into my review. I’m pretty neutral about eating here but he loves it SO much that I have to give it four stars. Because on average, we are a fan.

Beach Hut is probably my top spot for getting an awesome breakfast. I love this place. I started going in the 80’s when I lived close to it. It was this tiny little place that only had a few tables. I would do the wait and not even hesitate. I love the Shogun… Teriyaki chicken served on rice, eggs, wontons, and a big piece of Hawaiian bread that is toasted with butter. OMG!!! It does not get better than this. When I moved away to college, I would get cravings for it and every time I was back in the area, I had to go for breakfast. I have dragged my husband there many times. It is now at a different location that is across the street from where it used to be. The place now seats more. Not much has changed though… still awesome food and really nice service. This place ROCKS!!!

The people there were so nice. One of the staff offered to put a quarter in the meter if it expired while I was still out on the water. That was so cool I decided to have a nice breakfast there after going surfing. The food was great and of course, the people made me feel at home. Mahalo!
