I was having a horrible day, thank God Bambi was there. She was great! I came in mad and left happy. Thank you!

i first hand saw the bartender giving the guy a hand job in by ping pong tables. They are paid females for sex. The patrons laughed when I pointed it out. I was with my girl and she won’t go back and was sad and shocked at these hookers.

Although I had no real intention of stopping in here, my girlfriend was waiting in a long line at the Beauty Collection across the street. Being a Saturday with college football on, I came over here to grab a drink and watch the game with my friend. While I had pretty minimal expectations, what I was met with still left me surprised. To say that this is a basic bar is an understatement. There’s absolutely no décor other than a couple neon signs and a pool table. Thankfully, they did have some TV’s for the games. Unsurprisingly for a place like this, it was cash only. The only draft beers on tap were PBR and Tecate. Still being a bit hungover, I opted for a Bud Light bottle while my friend grabbed a whiskey drink. I think it was cheap enough but I was still trying to adjust myself to the scene. The bartender was nice, though it should be noted that she was the only girl in the place and I could tell it was not the type of place that my girlfriend would have felt comfortable(at least in the daytime). All the customers there seemed to be mostly older locals — looking to get drunk and try to flirt with the bartender. She seemed not to mind though and appeared to know all of them as regulars. It was really dark inside. Took my eyes a while to adjust. Also rather than serve coffee, they merely had a coffee machine. I would say hands down this is amongst the diviest bars I’ve been to. Dives tend to not be my cup of tea, which contributes partly to my ranking. However, if that is what you are looking for, you may love the place. I guess, to me, it just felt more like a place that belonged on Bar Rescue. Definitely one of the diviest bars in Los Angeles. Possibly the most divey I’ve been to. One positive though of the place is that they apparently open at 6AM, which is great for anyone who just wants to drink early or catch an early game. If you don’t care about atmosphere, want some stiff, cheapish drinks, this is probably a spot for you. If you don’t mind paying a buck or two more per drink and want a little more atmosphere, look elsewhere.

Oh yeah, the good ol’ El Castillo. Pure shit-hole dive bar if there ever was one, and I mean that in only the best of ways. Plywood walls, pretty much everyone is sweaty/sloppy/cross-eyed drunk(which generally includes the bartender on duty at any given time), pool and ping-pong tables, very stiff drinks, lots of colorful inhabitants/barflys. It’s a proper watering hole, and one of the few 6am bars left around that also serves food. Check out their famous pork chop and eggs breakfast — Bernie is the man!

I used to go to the Castle more but only go once in a while because a good friend goes there a lot. Likes: Attractive and nice bartenders, great drink prices, and newly expanded food menu. Also, an older crowd –I’m 65 and fit in age wise. I only go in early evening –heard that the Castle has great breakfast. Dislikes: Very dark inside –could be lighter, atmosphere is very depressing in my opinion.

We were going to give this place some business this morning. We are Detroit Lions fans wanting to watch the game from London. This bar is advertised as being open at 6am everyday. Since the kickoff time was 630, This was perfect spot. I called once during the week and once the night before. Each time I was told that they would be open at 6, and the game would be shown. I was even told that the kitchen would be open at 7. So imagine our frustration when we show up at 615 and the bar is closed. So of course we end up missing the kickoff having to go back home to watch the game. Very unprofessional. I guess that’s the risk you take depending on a dive bar to watch your team play. I love dive bars. but I will not be going to this place again.

Emily is tacky and unprofessional. She greeted me rudely and continued to take shots, drink her customers beer, and eat their food while ignored me and didn’t ask me if I needed anything. Hello you are at work and you can save being a bitch those who have to out up with you. Zero stars. Drinking in the job is ok here and they don’t card so come one come all!

Past time popular place exclusively from word of mouth… A legend on its own… which continues presently with owner’s son.

I had fun here. The bartender was super cool and friendly. Drinks were stiff and cheap. I didn’t eat the food so I don’t know if its any good. Will be back!

You would not expect a review of a bar be for breakfast. The Castle serves breakfast and lunch, but the breakfast is worth a visit. There are additional entrees like eggs benedict, but my favorite is the grilled pork chops. You can get it with one or two chops, I always get two and take the second one home for a second meal.

To the windows, to the walls, to the sweat dirty off my… Nope its not that kind of place here. Tucked in between the piers of Hermosa and Manhattan is a mystical place called The Castle. There is plenty of parking in the back, which you don’t need to pay for. So that’s a +1 so you don’t have to worry about getting a $ 50 parking ticket. Always stocked with beautiful and attentive bar tenders, my favorite is the one that works on Sunday; the lovely and wonderful Melissa.

The divy-est of dive bars yet far from what one could deem a British pub or public house. The Castle is small, but cozy. They keep it dark and make sure you look your best regardless of your condition. All the staples exist as well, a pool table, ping pong, jukebox, breakfast to wash down your morning brew taking a bite from the dog that bit you the night before, and free appetizers during happy hour ensuring you at least have a pot sticker in your belly to help soak up the booze. Most of the patrons just enjoy keeping the seats warm however, if you want to play some pool or ping pong it’s almost always open, or you can join in. And if you’re alone, someone will play with you even if the bartender her self has to juggle it into the routine. Priscella, Desiree, Christina, Niki, Elizabeth, Emily, Sam… They have all done right by me on multiple occasions. These ladies bust their ass and make sure everyone’s properly taken of, and not just with a constant stream of whiskey or beer. This is the MB WuTang clan bringing witty unpredictable talent and natural game to the south bay bartenders association. Of all the second homes you can find to call your own, I don’t know many that opt for a better venue than Castle. I will toss out a little disclosure though, first off, bring cash. They don’t accept anything else. It boggles my mind a little but it also keeps the prices fair and you never have to second guess if you’re being charged one too many joebomba’s(ask for it, delish shot created by a regular). Second, if you’re going to get shwasted and act a fool, befriend the bar keep first. She’ll take care of you if you’re on her good side, make sure you get home safe. If not you’re on your own. There’s something almost nostalgic about the place though. I always go alone, and leave with at least a few new friends, if not a whole bar full of new friends. By the time you finish your first beer the last thing you want to do is leave. Of course the world beckons and thankfully for all of us, when it’s time to unwind the Castle is waiting and like an old friend it’s as if you never left at all. Even if frequenting local dive bars isn’t your cup of tea, if you want to catch a game or just kill some time it’s worth stopping in. Say hi and I’m sure you’ll be glad you did.

I drove by this bar a while back and the name immediately caught my interest…“The Castle”. Being a bit of a medieval/fantasy-genre fan myself(a.k.a «Nerd»), I was intrigued. But it wasn’t until a recent bar hopping excursion did one of my friends suggest we check it out. So we arrived at the bar around 11:00pm on a Saturday. We found ample parking in the back. The place was a bit more dive-y than I originally anticipated and there was a severe lack of patronage for a Saturday night. They have a pretty cool juke box. It actually accepts credit cards and has a very extensive list of artists/songs. I popped in $ 5 and picked more than a dozen songs, none of which played during the time I was at the bar. Not sure if someone else had made selections before me and it was still finishing their playlist, but I definitely felt cheated out of $ 5. They also have a pool table in the front and a ping pong table at the back. Our group hung around for about an hour and had a few beers, but overall I could tell they weren’t digging the vibe. I won’t fault the bar too harshly though. We were looking for something a bit more lively and we didn’t find it here that night. To The Castle’s credit, the prices were reasonable, the beer selection was good, the staff was friendly, and the few patrons that were there were chill. Not much more you can ask for from a dive bar.(Other than a juke box that plays the songs you pay for and perhaps a bit more entertainment). I’m not writing-off The Castle just yet. It may have been just a slow Saturday. I’d say this place is worth checking out, but you might do well to leave high expectations at the door.

the castle is a great, laid back bar that, even though it is on sepulveda, is off the beaten path. large parking lot in the rear. most enter through the back door near the bathrooms. pass the server station(may have some food for all) and into the main area. not real big. bar is on the right and lower eating tables on the right. past the bar is a pool table and juke box. the actual bar is wooden with medium rail. padded bar front that is great to rest your knees against. a huge square box footrail that actually fits your entire show/sandel. bar back has three hdtvs and many shelves. behind all that is a large mirror. opposite the bar are the tables and a wood panel wall that is decorated by large framed music posters and beer signs. also has a surfboard on the overhang that is above the tables. though people will stay out of your business, they’re all friendly, including a guy named jeff that will likely hit you up for a dollar to play the jukebox. samantha is a very good bartender that on the spot with a strong drink or beer.

I agree with Scott S. Johnny G. needs to chill. The bartenders here are great! If you’re polite and respectful they will be too. :) Priscilla, Giselle and Ty are the best!
