I highly recommend Alejandra! It’s always hard to find a good stylist when you move to a new city so I’m really glad I met Alejandra. She pays a lot of attention to detail and spends a lot of time perfecting a haircut. I trust her judgment when trying to decide on a new style, she has an excellent eye for styles.

I have been going to Uptown Manhattan since it opened. 20 years of color and cuts.
I have continued to come see Alejandra since she took over. She spends a lot of time making sure my hair color is perfect and my color is working without damaging my fine curly hair.

Alejandra is wonderful! My hair is longer and softer than ever. She took over where Connie left off. I was very worried when Connie took the high road but I find she has left my hair to be cared for and pampered over by Alejandra! I can not thank these two enough. Constance made sure we would be taken care of. Alejandra is highly recommended by me! Happy, happy, happy!

I have been getting my hair cut by Connie for 8 years now. I am an actor and am always going from short to scruffy for certain roles I audtion for. Connie always seem to find the perfect way to give me the ‘look’ I am going for. This past summer, after not seeing Connie for 5 months or so, I had an audition for a guest star role on CBS’ Criminal Minds, as a co-​pilot and only survivor of a plane crash. Looking the way I did, i didn’t stand a chance of booking the role. Connie worked her magic on me, cleaned me up, and low and behold, I booked the epoisode!
Being a guy in his mid-​forties, hair disappears where we want it and appears where we don’t…Connie is as understanding, accomodating, and as funny and truthful when discussing such topics and does so with such a wonderful humor and a caring that makes her seem like nothing less than family. I always feel important and in the best of hands when I sit down in Connie’s chair and know I will get exactley what I wanted. She’s like no other. SImply put, the best hair experience I’ve ever known… and this is coming from a guy who has always HATED HAIRCUTS! :)

Connie is simply put… outstanding! I had really long, LONG hair that was beautiful, but really needed to be cut after 2 years. I was terrified to let anyone touch my hair for fear of them ruining the long locks that had taken me so long to grow. A girlfriend of mine who has been going to Connie for years got my butt in her door. I went in there with the intention of just having my hair trimmed a couple of inches… What I walked out of Connie’s salon with was magic! She sat me down like she had been my best friend for years and just talked to me. We discussed the pros and cons of doing different things and she was very descriptive of how each cut would be done. I trusted her so much that I ended up letting her cut about 6 inches off of my hair and layer it… Unbelievable to anyone that knows me! Even watching my precious hair fall to the floor I knew that it was going to be ok. I LOVE my haircut! I am still getting used to it, and it’s a little shorter then I would choose (but that is only because I choose long, straight, lifeless hair! lol), but it looks fantastic and it going to grow into nothing less then amazingness. I cannot thank Connie enough for being so rad and so caring about her customers. If you don’t go to see this wonderful woman you are missing out! I think this is the first time in my adult life that I have gotten a hair cut and not had one single regret about it. Just pure joy :) Love you Connie!

Connie is AH-​Mazing!!! I met her through a dear friend and have been going to her for years. I have never, ever been disappointed. She works magic with my hair, and that is an understatement. I never liked my hair until I met Connie. Love, love, love her!

I met Connie at a birthday party. My hairdresser of 15 years had just moved away and I loved Connie right away. Three weeks later I came in for a cut and color and that waist. My hair has never looked better and now my husband and two daughters are regulars as well. I love the feel of her shop. It is so friendly like the Cheers of hair salons! Connie is a great person and I consider her a friend. I would highly recommend her.

Connie does such a great job! She listens to you and helps you get exactly what you want. Her color is so good. .. my highlights look like I was born with them.

Uptown Manhattan is a great salon with a cozy vibe and very skilled hairstylist. Connie will really listen to what you need and steer you in the right direction while having a positive, uplifting attitude. Her color is always exactly what I want. I’ve seen a lot of blonde highlights (the tricky stuff) come out of the salon that looked perfect too!
She independently owns the salon, so your visit is really personalized and there isn’t a bunch of commotion around you. The prices are totally reasonable, especially for Manhattan Beach, and her schedule is super flexible. Great gem in the southbay!

Connie is not only a talented hairdresser but a truly unique and caring person. I have come to her about 17 years now and every time I walk in she introduces me to her other clients because she is actually friends with almost all of her clients. It is a great atmosphere (a bit of on the New York side which is great for us ex-​pats) and I would never go anywhere else. Of course she won’t let me.

I have been going here for years and Connie is great. She is one of the best in her profession.

My good friend from work came in one day and (really) looked at least 10 years younger. She had her hair done at Uptown Manhattan. I decided that anyone that could make that much difference really knows her stuff, and that is where I have gone for many years since.
Connie has owned Uptown Manhattan and has been doing hair for 18 years, and teaches other stylists as well. She does not have to advertise because her large base of clientele come by word of mouth. She has a very large following because of her unusual skill, her care for your hair, and dedication to her clients. She is an expert at color and does things to make your color great without damaging your hair.
She is fabulous both personally and technically. Besides being totally enthusiastic, supportive, and involved with her clients, she is an amazingly caring person. A spicy, Italian, New Yorker, she is fun, and entertaining while doing amazing and wonderful things with your hair.
I am sorry that one person on this board felt unhappy a year ago, but don’t be swayed. This would most definitely be an exception to the hundreds of extremely satisfied clientele Connie services. Her prices are fair and competitive.
I even take my 93 year old mother to Connie because she takes great care of her besides giving her a very flattering haircut. So do not hesitate to book an appointment. What more can I say???
