For a nice place like Manhattan Beach, this is a pretty poor quality Vons. It also closes way too early at 10pm compared with the Hermosa Beach store which opens till 2am and is much better quality.

Really nice neighborhood grocery. Good selection of organics including produce and the prices are very competitive, less than Whole Foods and about the same or a little more than Trader Joes. I’ve rarely had to wait in line and the staff is courteous and helpful. I can’t comment on the prepared food except for the rotisserie chicken which was very good.

If there were negative stars I would give them. This review is not from one experience but from two years frequenting this location. Apparently the issues in this store stems from corporate, I am not sure if this store is the ugly step child or if Safeway literally does not care. It would be completely understandable if this store was under staffed during the summer, when it’s heavily trafficked by local and non local tourists, however they are under staffed year around. Their product selection is extremely generic and their fresh foods is almost non existent. With a prime location and a monopoly on the market, this store could do phenomenally well. In order for that to happen, they should start listening to their staff as well as their customers.

So this particular Vons is pint sized with a very limited selection of what you would expect to find in a typical Vons. Due to its location right at the entrance to DTMB, a regular sized Vons would really change the character of the area.
If you need basics then this store is perfect. I only shop here when I need milk on the way home from work. They do have a sandwich and deli counter but no bakery.
It seems like they are always short staffed with not enough checkers so it will not be a quick in and out.
The parking lot is always packed too. I think they just get tons of beach goers in their lot because the ratio of cars to patrons seem off.

This is such a horrific Vons, I don’t even know where to start. It always feels dirty and disorganized. The inventory is shoddy and missing stuff. For example, they didn’t even carry Mach 3 razors. The produce seems tired and in my opinion looks as old and beat down as material salvaged from some other market’s dumpster. Much of the store and inventory appear straight from the early 1990s.
It is so strange to have this level of crap right in the heart of downtown Manhattan Beach. This looks like a Vons you’d expect to find in downtown Cudahy. Vons needs to step up and investment some serious money to upgrade this place and make it a proper, upscale market. Or better yet, just sell it to Whole Foods or Ralph’s, who no doubt would clean this operation up.
2 stars because the staff try hard and do their best and are friendly. This is not their fault.

Came here to pick some snacks before headed to the beach. Located right on Manhattan Blvd. Gorgeous area near the pier. In stir set up not so great. Looked a little messy and there was a huge spill in one of the aisles. Looked like someone’s coffee. No employee in sight to clean the spill. Told the cashiers while checking out though. Also go myself a sandwich from the deli. If I knew it would take that long I would not have bothered to order a sandwich. Think they were quite short staffed back there. Next time getting subway.

Vons is not my go-​to place but I actually like this location. There’s a nice parking lot on a busy street in Manhattan Beach — which is a must in the area. I like the staff here.
I don’t frequent the deli and I usually only come here to pick up certain things (usually bake at home bread, tuna, and packaged cheese). They have a nice selection of flowers out front and the checkout staff is always pleasant.

Seriously the worst staff and store ever. I’m a local and I shop there when I have to, but it’s never pleasant. The staff overcharges for items, doesn’t offer help, never opens extra check-​out lines, and is basically just unpleasant. I would urge Vons to cycle their staff from store to store so we could actually get some helpful staff. And let’s talk about how awful their produce is — regularly — brown lettuce in bags, cucumbers that are soft, brown banana’s, the list goes on. It’s as if they don’t care what they put on their shelves. Blah.

Although I love the small town feel from this Von’s location, it can be a difficult place to shop. It is very small, the aisles are very narrow & yet they put up so many displays, only one person can go down an aisle at a time. They need to either open up or expand the location, or leave the displays for the front of the store so the customers can get around easier.

Horrible service. Came to get something from the deli section but no one was there. Waited 5+ minutes, made eye contact with one worker but was ignored before asking for help. They called «Laura» to the section. She’s rude, lazy and I’ve heard the same complaints from other customers.

This place is a giant freezer
Very limited selection, very cold temperature so bring a jacket (seriously dress warm). Great parking for downtown manhattan beach. Obviously a pre-​gentrification leftover.
If you need something quick Vons is there for you.

We decided to stock our hotel fridge with snacks, beer and goods and stopped by Von’s on our way back. I love that I can get everything I need and still use my Safeway Club Card even away from home.

Not a huge Vons fan. I’m writing this for the guy in the hot food section. Sir, thank you so much for making me a breakfast burrito after the 11am cut off time. You have done this for me twice in the last month. Once last Saturday and then today. You were kind enough to ask me if I wanted one after you saw the disappointment on my face. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Nice Vons near Manhattan Beach, good stop to pick up a quick snack at a decent price. They have a legit little sandwich corner where you can make your own sandwich for around $ 5 so that was great! They also have premade sandwiches and other snack foods like hummus and salad which are good to grab and enjoy on the beach or just nearby.

This is the most itty-​bitty Von’s that ever lived! It’s clean and well stocked from what I could see, but I cannot expect much in the size department in manhattan beach.
Everyone was nice and the parking lot was just big enough.

I stopped by here the other day when it was raining. I was headed to a friend’s house and was trying to avoid traffic by staying off of Sepulveda which was backed up as far as the eye could see.
The parking lot here was a little tight, I guess everyone else in Manhattan Beach got the email to stock up early because it was raining and would be a mad house all day. The inside was kind of like the outside parking lot, little space and lots of people instead of cars.
The selection was good to go. I do dig doing all of my shopping close to the Beach but I am not sold on this place and not totally sure I would come back if I didn’t absolutely have to.
The staff seemed to have the total beach vibe, not as laid back as Trader Joe’s but everyone seemed friendly with smiles on their faces. I am not normally in this area and I tend to think this is a supermarket for people to walk to not drive to.
