FIRSTTIME&LASTTIME! I don’t really do reviews but let me just say this. Kristen(The dark-skinned African American stylist) appeared to be nice. However when it comes to African– American hair, she doesn’t know how to handle it nor truly care for it. It’s so sad because she is African American herself… so sad. I came there because I wanted my hair to be professionally cut(It is very damaged) and treated. However Kristen, applied tons of heat even though I told her that my hair is very damaged in the beginning. I even mentioned to her that maybe you shouldn’t apply so much heat because my hair is so damage. She says to me that she needs to straighten my hair to see the damage hair,(smh doesn’t make since). She also said that oils is not good for natural hair and I shouldn’t use water-based products(does this make any since?). I tired of going to these type salons where they promote that they style natural hair when really they don’t. Kristen charged me $ 65 dollars in total for a blow-dry, press, and the use of the product called«basic». Now I don’t mean to talk down on the sister, but I would suggest that she learn more about handling African– American hair and caring for damage hair. I walked out the salon a little unhappy, even though I didn’t appear to be. I don’t enjoy causing a scene or arguing with people about how to handle hair. Hopefully by reading this review you will learn something when dealing with future clients specifically African– American natural hair individuals who are on a journey of embracing their natural hair. I don’t know if my experience would had been better, if I had a different stylist but judging from the experience I didn’t and I will not go again.

Living in Harlem where there are 2 hair salons on every corner makes it hard to pick one. I was new to the neighborhood and looking for a salon that was convenient, friendly and cost efficient. I didn’t have to look far, after seeing an ad for Ana’s Hair Salon I decided to literally walk downstairs and check her out. Glad I did, she is welcoming, prompt and knowledgeable about natural hair.

I love this place. The owner Ana is very helpful and sweet. I’ve recently switched salons and Ana makes me feel right at home. Dana is my current stylist and she is amazing. Long gone are the days when it takes you 4 hrs to get your hair done. She has me out fast and my hair is always laid.
