I came into this studio for a 1-​time session at the end of March, having never done Pilates before and not being very active. After 1 class, I signed up for a introduction 3-​class pack and was hooked after that! Pilates is the first exercise class that I have loved so much that I am motivated to keep going and save up all my pennies to attend these classes. I signed up for the May Challenge, in which you do 21 classes in 31 days. Again, as a beginner, the classes are challenging, yet I have grown so much in a short period of time and feel stronger and more balanced. All of the instructors are great in their own way — they are kind, attentive and funny! The studio is always neat and clean and the clients are all focused and polite. If I could afford to do Pilates at this studio 7 days a week — I honestly think I would because the experience is that fantastic. I live a block away, so it is also super convenient for me to get there. I would highly recommend.

Such a lovely little studio, in a great location in Harlem. I’ve been going there for about a year. def. the closest to my apartment, but also just a great place to workout. I love all the teachers, especially the owner Anna which is amazing and just a generally beautiful person, and Gabby the new instructor, all are great, attentive to your issues and request. Balanced Pilates got me much stronger, I have less back pains than I used to and I’m enjoying it so much I never miss a lesson.
Very flexible schedule, great customer service. Everything new and clean, great music and great vibe. And they always have some kind of a special going on so it’s totally affordable.
All in all highly recommended!!!

AMAZING!!! LIFE CHANGING!!! Why didn’t I discover this place before? The instructors are all wonderful, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Anna. They cater to ALL levels. I have never felt stronger and more powerful, thanks to Anna (and everyone else at Pilates). The workouts are incredible. I can be a bit OCD about cleanliness, but the place is SO clean… all the materials/​machines are disinfected after each use. I always feel so welcomed and comfortable at each session. I would hate, hate, hate working out before, but now I can’t get enough of this place. Hands down, the best pilates studio in the city.

I poo pooed Pilates for the longest time. My mother raved about it and because I never saw results I thought it was bunk. My wife wanted to start getting into shape and I said I would join whatever gym she wanted so we could motivate each other. She said lets do Pilates. I was reluctant. The first class was introductory and I felt out of place. A, Im a guy. B, my coordination for pilates was non existent. Anna, our instructor made us feel comfortable. The studio is non-​judgmental and there is a mixed group of clientele. Lets fast forward 1 year. I still go twice a week. It has completely changed the way I look. I used to suffer from chronic back pain, it has 95% gone away. My bicycling has improved, my flexibility has returned, I sleep better. I can eat what I want to. This place is great. Anna, Carolyn, Orr, Georgette, Martha, Dale are all excellent instructors. They all have a different pace and know how to change things up. If you have never done pilates before, start. And start here. If you have been doing plates for years. Come here. They are a fun light hearted bunch and understand how body mechanics works and you are not a number. They know everyones name, they remember ailments, and they are simply great at what they do.

I’ve discovered a hidden gem on W. 123^rd Street — Balanced Pilates — a clean, unpretentious studio with state-​of-​the-​art equipment. I feel welcomed, completely comfortable and well-​attended to at each session. I was an insecure newbie to the world of Pilates until finding the right environment for me at Balanced Pilates. Just walk-​in. Don’t be shy. Your body will thank you. Ask for Anna. she’s my favorite!

I started coming to Balance Pilates a few weeks ago, and I’m hooked! I am new to the neighborhood and was looking for a new challenge, and so decided to give this place a shot. I was definitely in a fitness rut – I was feeling a little pudgy, not feeling very fit or strong, and couldn’t seem to find anything exercise-​related that I enjoyed doing enough to stick with. I was intrigued by pilates, and so when I saw that there was a place on 123^rd, right off FDB, I had to try it!
I’ve taken classes with many of the instructors and have found them all to be really great. I was brand new to pilates and so was a little bit intimidated, but I immediately got comfortable. The instructors challenge but give you whatever adjustments you need, and because the classes are small, you can get individualized attention. And they vary it up, so it doesn’t get boring or repetitive. Some classes are all reformer, some classes are tower /​mat and reformer. And the classes are small so if there’s something you are dying to do, you can just ask! I crave coming here for pilates class and always feel refreshed afterwards. And after just a few weeks of coming here, I already see changes in my body, and I feel awesome. Highly recommend!

The classes are challenging and fun. Very good teachers who help you improve and have a good workout.

I have been to many pilates classes in the city and this is by far my favorite! The classes are small and the studio is immaculate. The owner, Anna gives everyone a lot of personal attention and keeps the class fun with her cute personality. I live in the West Village and decided to take one class with friends, now 2 months later I am still going and don’t mind the commute to get there. Anna is worth it!

I take classes with Anna, and she’s awesome! The classes are small so there’s plenty of individual attention. I’ve been in classes with beginners and pilates veterans and she is able to tailor the class to everyone. All of the equipment is new and the studio is really clean. Glad I found this studio!

Wonderful studio! Anna is the best! I was new to Pilates but came here on some friends’ recommendation, and I’m so glad I did. Anna is friendly, professional, and patient (since I’m green), but I still always leave feeling like I’ve had a super productive workout. Very clean. Great addition to the neighborhood.
