One of my favorite playgrounds in Central Park. It’s has a secret garden feeling to it. It’s low-key and«hidden» to some degree. It has as delightful gated entrance and a slide built into the bedrock. Bucket swings for toddlers, a water spray future, a storybook stone bridge, picnic area and a massive sand pit. One of Central Park’s magical spots.

inside the park at 67th Street and Fifth Avenue This playground is small but sweet. It’s one of the more distinctive playgrounds in Central Park and was inspired by the landscape. Natural trees and plantings are utilized to create wonderful little play areas within the playground. The trees also provide nice shade during the summer heat. Our favorite feature is the granite slide, which is built into a rocky hill. They also have an area with bucket swings, a sandbox and a sprinkler in the summer months. There are bathrooms and street food vendors in the area. for more family fun ideas check out:

What an awesome find in Central Park. Nestled near the E66th St entrance, this playground’s greatest features are the stone slide & the water play area. The stone slide is tall, long, & perfectly shaded so the little ones don’t scorch themselves on their way down. You’ll find some kids using pieces of cardboard to get extra speed going but it really is not necessary if the slide is dry. Have you ever read about some of the coolest parks for kids to visit in NYC? Well I’m pretty sure this slide alone puts the Billy Johnson park on the list of cool parks. The water area is not always on but when it is, there is a wading river & a sprinkler. The water area has spots of shade as well but plenty of areas to bask in the sun while you are cooling off. Also found in this enclosed & well maintained park, are a baby swing set and an immense sand play area. Yay!

Great playground because the kids love the stone slide. Most use a piece of cardboard to speed their descent. I think it was designed as a water slide, but I don’t know if they turn it on anymore. NB: location on map is wrong. Head towards 5th Ave, just North of the zoo and you’ll find it.
