Very disapointed! Overpriced bad food, empty place, very hot. They should stick to Ecuatorian food, although the Ecuatorian Ceviche was tasteless and soupy. Won’t be going back, no wonder was empty.

My 2nd visit to Bistro 118. Unlike my very good steak au poivre a few months back my girlfriend ordered it this time and it was very weak. The steak was cut very thin and it was small. It looked like a small thin-cut pork chop. Everyone gets a bad steak once in awhile but this looked like it was bought cheap to save money. I like the place but the girlfriend was pissed. I haven’t written the place off but I don’t think we’ll be coming back soon.

This was our second trip to Bistro 118 and we loved it as much as the first time. The food is delicious. We had grilled shrimp salad for appetizer and moules and frites as entrée. Fresh, well seasoned and ample. The freshly baked sesame rolls and carafe of butter were a nice touch. Wine by the glass is 4.00 before 7pm. I hope this place catches the eye of the neighborhood as it deserves to be around for a long time.

Nice addition to the neighborhood! We had the Beef Carpaccio and the Steak Au Poivre. Both were nicely prepared and presented. Everything was well priced and the service was great. We’ll be back! … more detailed review to follow.

Great new french spot right off 3rd Avenue near the new Hunter College School of Social Work. Nice little room, decorated well. There is nothing else similar in the neighborhood. We got the escargot(served in shell), the moules frites and the steak au poivre. Everything was good and tasty. We also got a bottle of wine and they set a nice ambiance dimming the lights and putting candles on the tables. If you are in E Harlem and like French food, then this is the place for you.

Great food at a great price. Attentive service. We ordered steak tartar and branzino, both were delicious. The steak tartar was prepared at the table with great attention and skills. When we visited the restaurant it did not yet have a wine list but the Cote du Rhone recommended by the waiter was good and very reasonably priced. Great addition to the neighborhood and an opportunity to savor well prepared French fares at a very reasonable price. For dessert both the crème brulee’ and the poached pear were delicious. Highly recommended and worth the trip to East Harlem

Really like the place, a very welcome addition to the neighborhood, not many places to eat other then Mexican so its really nice to have around. Pretty good wine list, a large menu to meet anyone needs, and very reasonably prices.

Glad this is finally here in this restaurant desert! Minus the Latin places and fast food joints, East Harlem only has a few options, especially above 116th street. This fancier French venue just opened up. The wine prices are fair to inexpensive and the food is cheap for French. Relative to the other places around here, Bistro 118 is obviously a bit pricier, but compared to the area’s nicer restaurants(e.g. Agua Fresca) the prices are about the same. Also, it offers a 10% discount for people with college ID(students, faculty, and staff), which is great for all the graduate students living next door or going to the Hunter School of Social Work around the corner. It’s new, so it’s still a little sparse on the wine selection, but both of the wines we tried were delicious. The food menu is ambitious. Stick to the nice French items – we loved the liver and steak tartar.
