I wrote a negative review of CM Optiks previously on Unilocal based on a misunderstanding of what had occurred. It was not the optician who insisted my (wrong) prescription was correct. She was following the opinion of the doctor. The doctor thought it was correct but later realized his mistake when I wrote him and he agreed to right the situation. After I wrote the letter, Christine, the optician, was also solicitous and, at the doctor’s direction, returned a substantial amount of money to me that I had spent on my glasses. I want to emphasize it was not her mistake and I am satisfied with the outcome.

I really like this place. This optical store is within the office of Dr. Charles Merker. The doctor has been practicing for a long time and has quite a number of well known NYC business elite and celebrities within his practice. You don’t need a doctor’s appointment to visit the cute optical shop within the office — but I’d call ahead if you want to be taken care of right away. The staff is really nice and helpful — really good when you are not sure what frame looks good or what lenses are needed. They have all the latest products from the top designers. Oh, and if the frame needs adjustments or repair — they have this policy of fixing it free of charge (though I think if you sit on them and crush them — I’m not sure that offer applies)!
