DDK Cleaning

Don’t go here. I had a wedding to go to and they didn’t have my shirt ready, even though I asked for it done by Thursday morning. Come Friday evening, after multiple times talking to them about needing it by then, they still didn’t have it.
Lots of other cleaners, don’t waste your time or money here.

I have used this laundry service for approximately two decades since i moved to the block on which it is located. It’s extremely convenient for me because it is only a two minute walk from the entrance to the bldg. In which I live. A drawback of it’s location is that it’s located below street level and the steps to reach it are steep and narrow-​they can be hard to navigate if the weather is inclement and/​or you are carrying other stuff besides a standard full drawstring laundry bag. I’m saddened to read about the disasters experienced by a few of the other reviewers bc I have never had anything like that happen to me However I should note that I have only used this establishment’s wash and fold services for male casual clothing-​jeans, polo shirts, socks, sweatshirts, rugby shirts, basically cotton guy stuff. the rest of my clothing-i.e. business attire and anything that requires special care I bring to a dry cleaner nearby bc I also have a 2 decade relationship with that establishment.
No employee of DDK has ever been discourteous to me perhaps bc I have had such a long relationship with them. Of course once in awhile a single socks makes a jailbreak from my laundry lol but that’s only a minor tribulation. ;-)

Seriously, DO NOT ever use this place. I brought clothes for a simple wash and fold and was charged way more than was promised. The lady who helped me was extremely rude and disrespectful when I asked her why there were extra charges. It is clearly posted that the wash and fold rate is $.90 per pound. Yet, I was charged $ 1.23 per pound. I was mortified that I was treated so poorly, especially in front of my teenage daughter. Take my advice and take your clothes elsewhere!

We have a love hate relationship with DDK.

We were very disapointed in their dry cleaning and have since chosen another cleaners after having a few damaged pieces

I took my laundry down to be done. I told them to not dry the two sweaters and the silk pants. I picked up my laundry, they had dried one sweater, ruining it. They hung one wet sweater from a wire hanger. (Seriously. Who does that?) And they had my silk pants hanging wet from one belt loop.
Both sweaters are ruined and the pants are a little wonky now.
I paid $ 25 to have my clothes ruined. This is bullshit.

I had a TERRIBLE experience with DDK…
the dress I ordered for New Years didn’t come in time, so at the last minute, a day before the big day, i ran out to American Apparel and bought a simple long sleeved cotton dress. I took it to DDK b/​c it’s close to my work and had called to confirm that they did alterations. I brought it there and asked for rush service (i was willing to pay extra if need be) to just have the SLEEVES hemmed to ¾ instead of long sleeved.
Let me just say that i asked 3 TIMES that she PLEASE make sure their tailor (they send it out and don’t have in-​store services for alterations) hemmed the sleeves and NOT the actual hemline. She told me she would make sure. I paid and she told me to come back the next day at 12pm.
Came back at 2pm the next day to find that they had in fact hemmed the actual hem. Brand new dress destroyed (it was a shirt at this point) and i was left with hours to purchase a new dress. To top it all off, she asked me if she could just return HALF of the cost of the alterations… are you kidding me??? after listening to her talk on the phone for 20 mins arguing with the tailor i finally demanded that they refund me the full cost of the alterations and give me full cost of the dress so i could go and buy another one, which they reluctantly did.
DO NOT TRUST DDK WITH YOUR CLOTHES.

I had taken my wash and folds here for the last 6 months without much complaints. Until just recently I received a large load back that was completely ruined. It would appear that bleach made it into the washer and all my dark clothes were rendered unwearable. When I returned to resolve the situation they offered little apology or compensation… only a rewash of the ruin clothes. As much as I like the women who works the shop everyday, I will not be sending clothes there again.

@ $.85/​lb this subterranean joint is decent for bundle wash. Quick same-​day turnaround. Even if you specify SEPARATE and pay the $ 1 fee, they typically don’t do it so your whites can end up … errr … not that white.
For dry cleaning, I busted them ironing my sweaters, pants & scarves versus sending them out for dry cleaning. This skeeved me out. If I’m sending it to be dry cleaned, there’s a reason.
For shirts laundry, they are fine but kind of harsh on shirts & don’t replace buttons. Cheap at $ 1.60 though.
Good enough for wash-​n-​fold but all in all, an oxymoron, dirty cleaners.

I’ve been going to DDK since I moved to the area. Jamie, the woman who runs the counter, is very nice and courteous. Since we discovered we both speak Chinese, I’ve been speaking Chinese to her every time I head in.
The service is prompt (they’ll do same-​day laundry if you drop it off before 9:30am, and sometimes get it back to you around 12noon if you drop it off before 9am — 3 hr turnaround). They do great dry-​cleaning and also do delicates.
