Overpriced beyond belief. Thankfully, Amex sent us free gift certificates to this place so our dinner was virtually free. Paying $ 50 bucks for a boring salad with lobster meat? Yea RIGHT!!! I would skip this place, unless someone else is picking up the tab. There are plenty of other tastier restaurants around!

The lady is super sweet and friendly. They make their own ice cream sandwiches with freshly baked cookies! It’s nice to have a place like them in Chinatown. Just be careful… the AC was busted the last time I visited. I hope they’ll make their coffee a bit stronger too.

I’ve walked by this shop many times, but I’m invariably stuffing my face with take-away har gow from Wing Shoon or on my way to get other dim sum treats elsewhere – i.e. not in the mood for coffee and sweets. But today I was feeling windblown and hot, on the prowl for refreshment. And that’s when Desserts NYC saved the day with a smash-it-out-of-the-park strawberry lemonade. Holy moly, sweet Jesus, Mary and the orphans – this strawberry lemonade is so ripe for the swilling. Sugary like a nickel cup from sidewalk kids, tart enough to pucker your lips and packed with enough juicy chunks of strawberry you’ll think you’re swigging boba. Coupled with one of the melt-in-your-mouth-soft lemon shortbread cookies, this is summer in the form of edible refreshments.

My Brother and have been working in the same neighborhood as Desserts for some time now and we stop by and get something almost every day. On the way to work we pass numerous cafes and dessert shops but none of them compare to the service, environment and homey feeling that Desserts has to offer. I highly recommend stopping by and chatting with the staff and trying the home made treats.

Thank goodness for tenka deals! The tenka deal for 2 free cake balls really lured me into this place. I never noticed it around Chinatown before but there it was. I walked in and this woman who seemed like the owner was SO helpful. I had my cell phone out and she already knew I was going to use the tenka deal. She told me and the boy ALL about the cake balls. She explained each and every flavor. It was really late in the day so they were out of some flavors but that was understandable. We ended up choosing one cinnamon cake ball and a coconut cake ball. The coconut cake ball was dipped in chocolate with coconut shreds on top. She is a very sweet lady, she greeted us again today when we walked in even though she appeared to be pretty busy. DELICIOUS! They are so moist and the first bite(and every bite to follow) was perfection. My first visit was two weeks ago and I have returned twice already. The cake balls cost $ 1.50 each. I have also tried the chocolate raspberry cake ball which was great as well. They offer a card for these heavenly treats. For every 6 cake balls you buy, you get one free. So make sure to ask for a card if they don’t give one to you. If you go here don’t forget to pick up a cupcake too! Only $ 2 which I say is very fair. My favorite so far is their chocolate cupcake with espresso frosting. Today I tried a vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting and this was good as well. It’s cute inside. There are benches and a few tables to sit at. Also a bench outside to sit at. Not far from the park on Hester St. so I would recommend taking them there to eat if it is too crowded. Try coming early in the day to get the best selection of flavors. It makes me jealous reading these reviews hearing about the yummy flavors they have but then they are no where to be found when I arrive. Selection varies upon day too I suppose. But that’s okay. I love this place and I can’t wait to try even more of their treats. :)

Another day of my feeling like Manhattan is a lost cause to corporate America when Desserts NYC appears on the Chinatown/Loisaida horizon. Thank you, Desserts NYC. In my almost two years of trying new places by way of Groupon & ilk(in your case — Tenka), I give you first place for genuine enchantment.

2 free cake balls! Thank you Tenka, you’re the best. So I went in yesterday, after finding this tricky location, to redeem my coupon. The woman who helped me, who I’m assuming is the owner was too sweet. She was more than happy to serve me and filled me in on all the flavors of cake balls. I went with the French Toast and the Banana Bread Cake. Woahhhhhh. Banana Bread Cake, I should have just gotten two of those. It’s basically banana bread and then its dipped in chocolate and kept in fridge. Amazing. She also gave me a card for when I go back they’ll mark it each time and I can get a free coffee, another little perk. There wasn’t many baked goods on the shelves when I went in but if the cake balls were that good I’m sure whatever else Desserts NYC has to offer is also going to be really good! If this deal is on Tenka again make sure you grab or just head down there and get some cake balls, you won’t be disappointed!

this place is kind of out of the way, but if you’re in chinatown, it’s worth the trip. especially if there’s free cake balls involved: We came in pretty late, close to closing and got the last of the cake balls that were offered. Mary was super friendly and helpful and even allowed us a substitution. It was a good idea too since the blueberry cake balls were okay, just not my thing. The cupcake was pretty good and not as pricey as some of those I’ve seen at fancier joints. I’m not sure what other treats they have, but I would like to try them when they aren’t about to close!

The server was SUPER friendly-we came while they were about to close, but she offered to put the bench back outside for us to eat there, while she vacuumed the floors. We came for the free cake balls and she was nearly out, so she gave us some of those and a cupcake to go. The vanilla cupcake was pretty good, and it’s normally priced at $ 2. I really liked the frosting, and the cake was pretty moist, which is surprising since it was closing time. The blueberry cake balls pretty much just tasted like the kind you could get at any donut shop, however… so it wasn’t very impressive. But great customer service, at least!

I’m big on supporting neighborhood businesses, but Desserts NYC didn’t quite measure up. I had a Living Social voucher, which required placing an order at least 1 day in advance. Sure, no problem, I placed mine several days in advance just to be safe. I looked on their website in advance of calling, and oddly enough, most of the things I wanted to order, they were no longer making. When I got to pick up my order, it wasn’t ready, even though they had asked what time I would be coming by. On top of that, they hadn’t made all of the things I ordered that day, so substituted items on my order — which I didn’t find out about until it was packed and I was paying for it. The treats themselves were only so-so, a bit heavier and more buttery than I like to taste. I’d say the best of the bunch was definitely the peanut butter whoopie pie. All in all, a bit of a disappointing experience.

Where has this place been hiding!!! Oh ya… way the hell down in c-town…but mark my words, these were probably some of THEBEST baked goods I’ve had in a long, long time… and my NYC bakery roster is miles long. The place: An unassuming storefront on e broadway that, if it weren’t for the light blue awning and a scrip beckoning DESSERTS, I would’ve easily walked by. This place is the real deal and reminded me a bit of sugar sweet and butter lane as you are looking right over the display cases into the kitchen… I love that. The home-made like touches didn’t end there as when I took my(huge) assortment to go, there were no factory-made boxes, no mass produced heavy duty bags bearing the store’s name, but small brown bags(yes the ones you used to carry your pb and j and juice box in), good olé plastic, and the cake slice was wrapped up in tin foil, on a paper plate. How adorable. And oh how delicious. Seriously I can’t rave enough. The sinful goods: ***-CAKE BALLS. These alone got me in there and shit, were they phenomenal. I had a chocolate covered chocolate raspberry and, the best of the best, a malted chocolate ball. DIVINITY in a ball. ***-Deep dish cookies. The OATMEAL, made two ways, one with cranberries and one with chocolate and coconut was the perfect consistency-not too sweet, chewy but not cloying, spiced to perfection, mmmmm I can’t say enough. I also tried to the lemon and expresso and while these were good, they were forgettable. ***-Cupcakes. Unfortunately, at 5 pm on a Sunday, there weren’t as many types as usual but I went for the good olé vanilla on vanilla and chocolate with raspberry frosting. I kid you not, these are up there with THEBESTCUPCAKES I’ve indulged in. Yes, Sugar Sweet and Crumbs(i kno, i kno-but u really have to know which ones to order) are still first in line, but these had not only the perfect ratio of frosting to cake, but there was absolutely no semblance of dryness in the cake(as moist as anything Id ever had) and the frosting boasted silken, creamy, deep-flavored goodness. They, like SSS are unabashedly homemade looking and for 2 $ are the best value in town. ***-Hummingbird cake. Again, the cake was unbelievably moist, the frosting, thick but perfect and the drizzled dark chocolate was the perfect addition to cut the sweetness of the pineapple. YUMMMMM ***-Bread pudding. NOTYOURAVERAGEBREADPUDDING as this one was in slices, was made with the finest quality bread, cinnamon, bittersweet chocolate; buttery but not overly so and flaky whilst still retaining a rich, moist foundation. **-Brownie. Fabulous. Plain and simple. **-Pain au chocolat. Again, done so so well, but I’d stick with their other characteristic as well as out of the box-ish treats. –Cranberry scone. Not to end on a negative note. But, skip this one. And try like ten of everything else. All in all, not only is Desserts a bargain, but it truly encompasses all that a small business should be. They make incredible quality baked goods with both charisma and charm to back them up. In only one visit, this place has jumped to the top of my list and I can’t wait to go back and try more. (Word to the wise, the menu they have listed really isn’t completely true to form as they have different, revolving flavors and they definitely take advance orders(for large purchases) and actually prefer that to someone like me who comes in and essentially cleans them out lol) They also serve pancakes and eggs and, on this first sunny day in months, I heard whispers of an eventual popsicle addition to the repertoire. Drooling as I reminisce

After my customer service experience here, I can’t help but think back to that Seinfeld episode where Jerry’s made a reservation for a rental car, and of course there’s no car waiting for him. I called the day before as instructed, and ordered a variety of things to pick up the next day. So when I get there, they don’t have four of the items that I originally ordered. Neither of the two types of tarts that I ordered were available, and only one of the three cake balls I wanted were made, and this is after they tried to tell me that I actually ordered a different tart. Uh, no, I remember what I ordered. What’s the point of placing an order if they’ll just make whatever they want? Their excuse was that they didn’t have enough time, yet when I was there picking it up, no one was in the back baking any of my things, trying to fulfill my order; nor did I get a phone call that they didn’t fill my order in case I wanted to come back the next day. Anyway, back to what I actually ate. The cake balls were good, I admit it, as was the tart which had a really great crust. Though I do wonder how much butter is used in these since they ran right through my system, which is common of very buttery items I think(in case you wanted details). I’d put this place at 4 stars normally, and can understand if maybe you have one item out of stock, maybe two, but four? Sorry, that knocks you down to two stars.

I felt like I stepped into a baking class or something. Containers of frosting and freshly made batter were strewn about the work table, and the cakes in the glass case looked somewhat unfinished. There are no labels for the desserts to be seen at all. Despite the homely looks of the place, you can really tell the owner enjoys what she does. I tried their cake balls, and it was very delicious. I tried the french toast, malted chocolate and chocolate and it was all super yummy. And at $ 1 each(the chocolate was $ 1.50), you cannot get any better than this.

Just came back from Desserts. Great little bakery, the banana cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are DELICIOUS. They’re really moist not too sweet with just enough banana flavor. You also have to try the cake balls and whoopie pies!

A Chinatown treat!- a bakery oasis brimming with bowls of chocolate ready to frost– this little shop surprises with cakes, cupcakes and chocolate balls of joy. Cupcakes here are suprisingly divine– my two vanilla cakes with chocolate tops were frosted on the spot with thick, delicious chocolate. At $ 2 each they are a cheap sweet treat! Watching them frost the cakes is an aprodisiacal moment for me. They are super nice here and I kept buying more and I was delighted with my dessert delights.

A quaint, homemade dessert and breakfast munchies café unexpectedly found in Chinatown/Lower East Side. Albeit the décor give a cozy«at home» feel so does the food which I needed substance before my Saturday routine becomes full blown. My one scrambled egg with cheese on a bagel was freshly prepared on the premises and filled me to revive me from the land of eternal sleep. The egg was not the usual whole grade A but brown egg, which I prefer the whole grade for the fullness of taste. There are whoopie pies, tarts, deep dish cookies, cakes and cupcakes which many goodies are seasonal. Personally, I prefer the classic chocolate chip cookie as oppose to deep dish style. Breakfast served continuously throughout the day? Oh ya! As it’s not just being served all day at diners anymore. Seating are benches of what appears to be from one’s home kitchen. The owner is very pleasant and gives much attention into care for her baking/cooking, which is refreshing. Being newly liberated in the service industry of five years to receive snide and callous service where Desserts NYC’s owner very pleasant and welcoming response is walking into uncharted territory from the land of unfathomably, stolid nasty.

needed a scrumptious dessert that wasn’t in havoc from a line from this past grub street festival. can we talk about how i love this little place, hope it a success as rich as their $ 3.00 pumpkin pie? they have mouth watering options of quiche, cookies, cake, brownies, muffins, pie and wi-fi. we all have to be down for tasteful options but the follow through is key. the brownie was gooey, sizeable, and affordable. the pie had a thick cardamom graham cracker crust and pumpkin filling that tasted of pumpkin and wasn’t overboard with sugar. what a cheerful and helpful staff to match the fresh down-home baked goods. if they can keep up this pace, then deserts nyc will do better than survive!

Creative Combinations + New Bakery(3 months old) Foodie Delight. My Perfect Birthday Treat Delightfully sweet but not too :-) Just the way I like it. The owner was so calm and pleasant in explaining the different types of baked goods. I gobbled up an apple cheese cheddar cheese rosemary crust, and an oatmeal with dark chocolate chunks that made for the perfect afternoon. Free wifi, and calm/quiet. Definitely a great spot in the neighborhood. Sandwiches, breakfast, fruit tarts, pear tart, plums and peppers on a cardamon brown sugar crust. Combinations that you wouldn’t think would be good together blend together so well. Date Rating: 4 Pick up Scale: 1 Strong Suggestion: come hungry, you’ll find plenty of things that will make your mouth water.
