Great pass through at 97th Street to go from East Side to West. I love the trees during change of seasons. I love everything about Central Park in its entirety. The Conservancy Gardens are a must see in Central Park. This is another of my stops on my city tour for out of town guests. The time to come is when the flowers are blooming. The fountains are beautiful. It’s close to the lake where there is fishing. Close by is Museum Mile. I do like to sit on a bench and rest after hiking. Sunny days, windy days, any day. It’s quiet here. Lots of people walking dogs. I like to people watch. On a spring or summer day you might see a photographer or two with wedding parties! It’s a nice park to visit, take pictures. If you work in the neighborhood it’s good to bring your lunch and sit.

As per their website, this is a pastoral meadow just off of Fifth Avenue. Yes, it is a popular spot for relaxing and picnicking, but it is spacious enough.

I love east meadow. It is a hidden gem in Central Park. If you are looking to avoid the explosion of French teenagers and countless other European families, make your way to the upper half of the park. They just reseeded the grass field so it is LUSCIOUS. There are no brown patches just a sea of dark green goodness which is never very crowded.

I generally prefer the North end of the park for it’s vast open spaces, lower human density, and pleasant dog-friendly walkways. The East Meadow(near 100th st and 5th Ave) is a great place to go. The lawn is huge! It is a fenced off area so it is great for dogs, sporting events or just lounging around in the sun. Like most of the larger areas, it is closed off between 9PM and 9AM, but if you go just after 9AM you can pretty much have it all to yourself. There are signs posted requiring dogs to be on leash at all times in the East Meadow, but from what I have seen, this is rarely honored, making it a great place to let you dogs run around.

The East Meadow is a hilly green near where I used to live on the UES. It’s been fenced off since the storm from August 2009, but they recently re-did the grass and it looks much better now(though it is still off-limits while the grass settles in). The sign says it is going to reopen in the fall. Hopefully, it won’t go back to being an unofficial dog run. There used to be twenty or thirty dogs there every Saturday morning around 8 or 9 am. I have nothing against dogs, but I stopped sitting on that lawn when I lay down on the grass one day and it smelled like piss.
