Fairway Studios

this is studio is amazing! affordable and in a convenient location. I booked the smaller studio and it was fully loaded with top notch lighting equipment (doesn’t get any better than Profoto), AC, music, backdrops, mirror. you name it. Everyone was professional and very friendly. Definitely making more bookings with these guys.

I reserved the smaller studio space for a saturday morning — for a photo shoot — excited to be able to find such an amazing price in the city. Speaking with Anthony was quick and easy, he was very friendly and accommodating. I paid the $ 50 to reserve the space, and received an email confirmation quickly after. All seemed good to go.
The shoot day arrived, and as I stood in the hallway of the building where the studios were located, I quickly realized no one was there to let me in. I was quick to forgive — it was snowing, maybe someone overslept? However, after my whole team and the model arrived, and we waited an HOUR AND A HALF, I realized that no one was going to show up.
3 emails, and countless phone calls (to the only phone number provided which was to the office next door that was CLOSED) and not a word back.
Never in all my years as a Photographer in the Commercial Industry have I experienced such a lack of professionalism! They not only wasted MY time, but the time of all the people who actually bothered to show up.
I let a day pass hoping I would have my emails responded to at least — but nothing. They did however charge me the $ 200 fee for the studio time. After calling and asking what happened (and demanding my money back), Anthony provided nothing more than a few «i’m sorry’s» and «someone forgot to give you the code I guess». WELL THANKS. Luckily he refunded the whole amount — which was just about the only redeeming thing about this whole experience.
Flakey, unprofessional, and not in the least bit genuinely remorseful after screwing up in such a huge way. I would NEVER recommend this studio to anyone. Ever.

We did a product photoshoot at Fairway with Anthony and couldnt be happier with the results and the professionalism of Anthony and his team. We found Fairway through a Craigslist post and took a gamble. Anthony was honest about cost, timeline and quality of the images. We had a short window for turnaround and Anthony shot, edited and returned hi-​res images in 1 week! There studio studio is clean, with state of the art equipment and Anthony knows what he is doing. We have worked with 3 other photographers in the past and were never happy with the quality of the images and the lack of professionalism. We found a keeper in Fairway and look forward to continuing to work with them on all of our professional photography needs.

Just got new headshots printed here. They did an amazing job. I emailed them with questions, and they emailed me back immediately. Then I emailed them a file, and they got the proof ready. When I went in, I approved the proof, and they printed 100 headshots essentially while I waited. And the quality of the prints is fantastic. Easiest, smoothest printing company I’ve ever worked with. And incredibly nice. I really can’t recommend them enough. Will definitely be going back for my next round of headshot prints.

I owe a big part of my career to Fairway.
I was broke as fuck and needed a studio during the winter months for small jobs and projects when I was starting out. Most that I found were junky and just terrible to look at so I was not sure if I’d find something that could work. I considered Brooklyn for a short bit but I ended up finding Fairway, spoke to Anthony, and picked up a monthly membership. The place was clean, large enough to shoot what I needed, and in an extremely convenient location. I shoot mostly fashion and portrait and have shot a considerable number of my editorials and small jobs at the studio over the past 1.5 years. I’d say that Anthony has been one of the most easy people to work with since I started shooting in NY.
This is NOT the place if you’re looking for a giant cyc wall, insanely high ceilings, waiting room for your client, a glamourous eating area, etc… There’s a time and place for that but that’s not what this space is about.
This IS the place where you can get in at pretty much any time of the day or night, shoot small-​to-​medium-​sized jobs, do some personal projects, do a casting, get your shoots done, and maintain a quiet budget.
Here are some things I have shot at Fairway:

I have used Fairway, for a few thousand hours, since 2005.
The largest, best equipped, studio, with the best natural light, is useless, if you get there and the studio has been double booked & someone else is using it. Or if there is no one there to unlock the door. In the seven years that I’ve been using it that has never happened to me at Fairway. Anthony runs a tight ship & thing are the way they are supposed to be.
It’s a nice, cozy, windowed, white walls & ceiling, studio with enough Profoto strobe equipment for most jobs. The price includes the strobes and that makes it economical and very convenient for a quick in and out shoot (although I sometimes use it for a full day). It now has some new, basic, daylight, CFL’s which make video filming possible, although I haven’t filmed any video with them.
There is good subway & train transportation near by. Driving & parking are a problem, as is the case in most of Manhattan. Highly recommended,
