Awful, terrible, blatant disregard for customers. Shall I go on?

Gett «gets» you by promising a «firm quote» on the app that — in my experience — is competitive to, if not less than, their competitors. But buyer beware: while Lyft, Über and Via will tell you upfront what your total charges will be, Gett doesn’t. And they do this on purpose with blatant disregard for any customer complaints. My firm quote was $ 29.83 — I was charged $ 40.87. The extra $ 11? Taxes, tip (which I didn’t have a prompt to specify) and a waiting time fee. For the same ride, Lyft was all-​inclusive and like $ 1 more but I was trying to save money — ha! Gett knowingly use vague language to describe the additional amount you’ll be charged, there’s a complete lack of transparency about the total fare — and their customer service is downright awful.
So you want to file a complaint in writing? You’ll be promised a response «within three days at most.» Haha, good one.
So you want to call to file a complaint? Prepare to wait on hold — and then be offered a credit toward a future ride. No thanks, I’m not interested in taking Gett ever again.
After such a positive experience with Gett in London, I was incredibly disappointed. There’s a reason it’s the little guy in town in NYC. I’m deleting the app, contacting the Better Bureau Service and will tell anyone I know to avoid Gett like the plague.

I am highly disappointed and disgusted by this service. I recently took a trip using Gett with a friend. During the trip we had to change our destination due to an emergency and called customer service to remotely change the location for us, as you are unable to do so with the app. When we reached our destination I received a notification that our trip cost a total of $ 125. After reaching out to Gett about the ridiculous fees I was given the response that any trips over 30 minutes would incur additional fees. Our trip was 37 minutes. I also checked their quote feature, which was suggested in the obviously automated message, to find that the same trip costs no more than $ 35 on average. I have reached out again regarding this and have not heard from them since. For a company that advertises «no surge guaranteed!» this definitely feels like surge pricing. Note to all: 7 minutes over their 30 minute policy equals about $ 90 apparently. If I could give them no stars I would!

first time user. booked a cub for my mother, disabled in a wheel chair, accompanied by a care giver. i paid with credit card in advanced, paid extra for early booking, and unfortunately add tip. the driver was rude, refused to help my mom get in and out of the car. took pay in cash, although i paid in advance. he claims that he gave back to money, when he realized that i paid in credit, but the money was never found, and he was out of the place so fast with another passenger. and the customer service of gett? well, they are not responsible, as they put it in their email. they are just the mediators. will never use it again.

I have had to spent time in the city and I am a newbie, although I have taken a yellow cab a time or two and felt ripped off. I am impress clean cars, quick serve and very nice guys driving.

They are thiefs. Worse then then any of them. I switched to them from Carmel (due to a bad situation with them) and thought I found a good servce.
I was quoted $ 36.38 from my house to Bayonne NJ. Look at what they charged me. $ 40.00 in tolls, from Manhattan. There arent any tolls going through the tunnel from NYC to NJ. Its only the other way! This is robbery. And black car tax? Why isnt this tax in the quote?
Does anyone know who to file this with as this is outright robbery? I looked back at my other receipts. and found all the same! They should be put out of business!

3 stars because my experience with customer service has been fine. I take gett A LOT. My once 5 star review has been chipped down to 3 stars because I have recently experienced several dishonest sleazy drivers who charged me for rides I did not take, wait time that did not occur, trips that were way longer than they actually were. etc. In each incidence customer service refunded the disputed charges, so 3 stars for that reason and the $ 10 flat rate in Manhattan is great. Unfortunately, the drivers are the face of the company and they have some real sleaze bags driving for them and I’ve encountered one too many lately. :-(

And here is the BEST part of GETT. After BLOCKING ME, they still send me friendly emails. I have been BLOCKED PERMANENTLY by a man named Pierce. Pierce seems like a nice guy at first, but he and everyone else who works at GETT has a lovely God complex and rather than seeing the actual complaint as a valid complaint, they have been taught to disregard all customer complaints and just make up policies. and say NO to everything, even when something was terribly wrong.
Whoever is in charge at GETT will be in for a very rude awakening when they lose all of their business
GETT, if you saw how much I had to spent on UBER these past 3 months for work, you would be ASHAMED of yourself for blocking me. And UBER always takes my sides when I send them the receipts and show them the issues. I LOVE UBER for this. I even am ok with their surge pricing since they are so kind to me, UBER even made me a VIP. I get great treatment by UBER.

GETT — THE WORSE BUNCH OF AZZ-​HOLES ON THE PLANET
I went there through an employment agency, for an interview for a data entry position by Krista and another MONKEY — I can’t remember his name «MONKEY» for now. It was the worst in phuckin interview I’ve ever been on.
The monkey insist i recall any altercation i may have had at my previous job 20 years ago, I couldn’t understand this, and he just kept badgering me to recall a bad situation i may have.
Needless to say I walked outta of there without a job,
I wanted to mention to them, all the Unilocal bad reviews.

Horrible. The driver had no clue how to follow his gps that we got lost. We had to pullover and I had to look up directions on my cell phone. As we detoured and back tracked, the driver assured me that it would not affect me as far as payment, as he reassured me it was his fault for us getting lost. When I finally reached my destination and got my electronic receipt, what was suppose to be a 25 $ ride turned out to be a 50 $ ride. I immediately emailed the gett customer service and was never contacted.

Unbelievably bad customer service.
I was a gett customer (always chose the underdog) and when my credit card didn’t process, they emailed me to try a new one.
I tried logging in to switch cards, but my account was blocked?
So I contact them for help, and they say my account is blocked permanently now. No reason whatsoever. Just that I’m done with Gett as a customer!
The most bizarrely horrible service — it made no sense. I told them fine, I clearly would never use Gett (or recommend them) again. I just want to make sure my driver was paid and tipped. And still no answer!
Not worth my time calling, but worth my time warning you all that the cheap service is cheap for a reason. Go with Lyft :)

As there have been many unfortunate run-​ins with rude, inconsiderate drivers (just as much as the yellow cabs) I’m sorry to say that Gett has become the low man on the totem pole.
They have many a great deal, but the quality of their drivers is crap. They’ve gotten worse & worse over the years.
Examples:
* Drivers saying that I’ll pay their ticket if they get one FOR TAKING MY USUAL ROUTE TO WORK. Idiot, you clearly don’t know NYC streets.
* Drivers arguing about which route to take. Are you dead serious? Hello? Google maps says mad traffic on the route that you want to take, not on the route I know how to take.
* Drivers being lazy & not stopping at the address I’ve specified for them to pick me up at. Again, drivers clearly don’t know the city.
* Drivers who expect you to fit between them & the tiny crevice of space between another car to get in their vehicle.
They lack common sense & common courtesy.
I want to know who the holy grail of car services is.
Because this one sure ain’t it –_–

Do NOT use Gett.
Drivers overcharge for taxes and tolls, and it is nearly impossible to get a hold of their customer service to resolve these issues.
Beware, their advertised flat rates do NOT include taxes and tolls, so airport rates are much higher than Über or Lyft. I was charged $ 90 to get from Manhattan to EWR, not the $ 62 that was advertised. Nowhere on the app does it mention that there are tolls, and this information can only be found in the fine print of their website.
This company falsely advertises prices, does not hold itself or drivers accountable for overcharging, and has the worst customer service.

I’ve been giving Gett another chance and it’s pretty good now. It’s still difficult for me to catch a Gett cab on the upper east side but it’s no longer impossible. Most importantly there’s no surge pricing and they offer the flat rate Gett deal that take you anywhere in lower Manhattan for about $ 9.

So, Gett assured me they’d reprimand the driver and kept saying they would give me a refund. I said since I blocked the charge from going through, that there was no refund to process. They then said that they couldn’t unblock my account until I paid the balance. I ended up paying the balance on the account and I called Gett customer service to make sure they were going to reverse the charge like they promised.
I spoke to a woman who said my ticket, since paying the balance, has been updated to reflect that I had ASKED to be taken to NJ by the driver. So they tricked me into paying the full $ 50 fare, with that lunatic of a driver, and are now refusing to refund me, even though I had emails from them prior, stating they were refunding me the entire fare.
They are monsters.

I first LOVED GETT — there customer service was AMAZING –if I had an issue I felt safe and called in and they were friendly and helpful and would provide a coupon code as courtesy. I have spent 100s of dollars with them over the 2 months. BUT NOW –they are HORRIBLE! I feel scammed. I was miss-​charged and have spent 2 WEEKS calling and being put on hold for 30min at a time — I was told I would receive a coupon code as courtesy — NEVER DID — when I called back they are RUDE and dont even see the notes & had to restart AGAIN AND AGAIN and STILL NO HELP! Every time I asked for MANGER THEY WERE IN A MEETING! REALLY?
GETT YOUR SHITT TOGETHER GETT! BYE BYE — NO MORE MONEY FROM ME! GOING TO UBER OR LYFT! IF THEY CONTACT ME AND PROVIDE PROPER SUPPORT I MAY RECONSIDER… Otherwise GETT NEW MANAGEMENT and STOP BEING IN A MEETING! Your customer Service is declining !

Gett blows. I have been charged extra fees multiple times for no reason. I was charged «wait time» fees when the car I ordered was not even outside and I ended up waiting. Is the driver charging ME for waiting on HIM? RIDICULOUS.
I was also charged $ 10 extra for making one additional stop that was 5 blocks away from my final destination, but the app said it’s $ 5 extra per stop.
I’ll admit, it’s a deal if you’re going from upper Manhattan to lower Manhattan even with all the extra fees, but the lack of trust I have for the drivers and the apps is what will make me turn to über and lyft next time. Or even a regular yellow taxi. Not worth the headache.

I love the idea of GETT and have referred multiple friends to try it out. When you can get a car, the experience is similar to that of Über or Lyft, without surge pricing (plus).
When you can get a car… being the operative part of the sentence. Not to be snarky but 9 times out of 10, I end up getting a message that ‘all cars are busy’ or having a driver call me to ‘cancel’ because he isn’t allowed to. I’ve taken screenshots on my old phone that shows Gett cars all around, yet none are available for pick up. If it weren’t for the remaining credit that was due to expire, I wouldn’t have tried using GETT multiple times.
Customer Service is pretty rude as well. I had a question pertaining my account and not only did it take a rep about a week to respond to an email, after being unable to reach them on the phone, their response was condescending and curt. It left a less than desirable taste in my mouth.
I’d much rather spend my dollars and time with a company that has nice people in support, with available cars to take me where I need to go.

Ok so i gave Gett another chance on NYE. The guy picked us up at e 22^nd st and then dropped us off the middle of nowhere. He’s like yea u can just walk 2 blocks to Penn. Just check my app and said he dropped us off at freakin 54^th Street! 20 blocks away from Penn. Once these drivers have to drive more the $ 10 worth they just tell you it’s a few blocks away and to walk bc it’s «easier». Every damn experience has been awful. Will definitely NOT use them again. RIDERS BEWARE! STICK WITH UBER OR REGULAR YELLOW TAXI. THEY WON’T JIP YOU LIKE GETT DOES. Bunch of schemers who try to rip off everyone.
Also, still did not receive my credit that I was promised the other day…

I’ve had both really great experiences and really bad experiences with Gett. In summary, Gett needs to get it together.
Out of the times that I’ve been able to get a car, the service has been prompt and the drivers have been super friendly. Because of all the free credit I’ve been given, I have taken 4 rides now across Manhattan without paying a penny. Amazing, why would I ever even take the subway anymore?
Here’s the downside. Sometimes, it is just so hard to get a Gett. Once, I made a request 5 times on my personal phone without yielding any results despite the fact that the app clearly showed that there were cars in my area. Frustrated, I pulled out my work phone to see if my luck would be better if I simultaneously made requests on both phones. Magically, immediately after I made a request on my work phone, I got a match, while the app on my personal phone continued to tell me that there were no available cars in the area.
The software is inconsistent and pretty amatuer compared to über, but if you have the patience, the free rides are pretty great.

3.5−4 stars. After reading all of the other reviews, I was terrified to try Gett. To be fair, the first time I tried calling a car it took refreshing the app and requesting 5 – 10 times before one finally rolled around, but I’m actually super happy to say that my experience has been steadily improving ever since. Unlike Über and Lyft, Gett’s value proposition is slightly different: $ 10 flat rides always (below 110^th St. in Manhattan). No surge. No sharing with strangers. This comes in extremely handy during super busy hours or bad weather.
Other things that I like about Gett:
–Like all other ride services, as a first-​time user you get free ride credits. Unlike its competitors, Gett is a bit more generous. You get $ 30 to start (using someone else’s referral code), which is equivalent to 3 free rides except for the usual 1 freebie you’d get with Über or Lyft. As an existing user, every time you refer someone, both you and your referee get $ 30 of credit.
–The drivers are generally pretty competent (at least in my experience). Furthermore, they have this great loyalty program where every time you take a ride, you gain points. The more points you have, the more likely you are to get a 5-​star driver. I’ve used Gett so much now that I pretty much get quality drivers all the time, which is awesome.
Things that could use improvement:
–Gett’s GPS definitely makes wildly inaccurate estimates and really isn’t able to handle traffic well. But once you get used to it, you can sort of gauge better.
–There’s no option to change the tip or anything after the trip. You have to automatically set your tip percentage (tip is on top of the $ 10 flat rate, by the way) beforehand. This makes it difficult to adjust tips for each trip.
–Sometimes Gett just charges you randomly for stuff that doesn’t happen, like «stops» that you made during a trip ($ 5 each) when you in fact just had one, continuous trip. However, if this ever happens, you can call their customer service and although you have to deal with a bit of attitude, they will credit you back.
I think Gett could become a major competitor in the transportation market in NYC, but it definitely still has some issues to clean up. I’m becoming more and more of a fan though!
