Shawn is a great teacher, patient, and professional. He takes his time teaching you the skills needed to learn the guitar. I met him with the groupon but I am having such a blast, I will continue the lessons.

Shawn has been teaching my 6 year old son for several months now and unlike my other children, who play piano, my son never complains about practicing guitar. Shawn keeps it fun by teaching him songs that he can play now while still learning the basic skills needed to progress. Based on his abilities and friendly demeanor I whole-​heartedly recommend Shawn for players of all ages and skill levels.

While I fret about practice, Shawn’s constant reminder to «keep it fun» has made sure my son’s first exposure to music is an inspiring, challenging but low-​pressure experience… this is not how I remember my childhood piano lessons! He packs a lot into the half hour lessons — in our apartment — but he’s tuned in to how much information my son will take in each week.
Shawn is prompt, reliable and flexible. For me, the option to buy lessons in 10-​packs rather than sign up for a whole school term made the deal.

Shawn is a really nice guy and a fabulous guitar teacher! He is super talented and very patient during his teachings. He works well to identify the student’s progress and create appropriate level homework and practice for the student. Highly reccommend Shawn!

Shawn was able to teach my very energetic 5 year old son how to play the ukulele and was able to teach me to play a few tunes on the guitar. He really listened to what I wanted to learn and customized our lessons accordingly. It was super convenient to have him give us lessons in our apartment. Very professional and really is good at what he does!

Shawn is a great guy. Above all, he’s an excellent teacher. He works well to quickly understand what your level of ability is and take you to the next level. He works with your goals to help you get the most out of your time with him. I have personally experienced an immense amount of growth in my musicianship in a short amount of time, far more in-​depth self reflection about where my music is going and what can be done, as well as growth in confidence about what I already know.
The location for the lessons is easily accessible from several express trains (and is worth the schlep from Brooklyn) and Shawn has a comfortable space in which to learn. He also travels all over the city to give lessons which is an awesome benefit.
After trying out lessons with other people in the city and then taking a few lessons with Shawn, I knew that I had found the right guy to help me become a great musician.
