Halal Cart

This awesome street vendor was across the street from our hotel, the Four Points Sheraton, while we had a boys trip out to NYC. This was my first Halal cart, and must say i instantly became a fan! If only California allowed street food like this, I’d be up on it all the time!
I ordered the Halal combo. Basically it was spiced chicken and lamb gyro over yellow rice and spicy red rice. The spiced chicken was bursting with middle eastern flavors, and the gyro meat was awesome considering it was coming from a cart off the street. The yellow rice accompanied the flavors of the meats very well. However, the red spicy rice was a bit too spicy for my taste. What wrapped up the whole dish together, though, was the white sauce and red sauce. And for only 5 bucks, you get a take out tray that could possibly feed 2, depending on how hungry you are.
These Halal carts I would assume are an integral part of the NY food scene, and I could totally appreciate what they bring to the table!

For $ 5 is a hell of a lunch!
Make sure you get both spicy and yellow rice!
And don’t forget the white sauce.
