At 12AM night, this halal cart is my place for a gyro in the UWS. It tasted good although there were a few tiny clumps in the meat– oh well. Reading the other reviews here though, it is possible that I just have mutant taste buds or a mutant sleep wake cycle that affects my taste buds. I like this cart’s food.

I give this two stars because this Halal Cart also serves breakfast items in the morning, which is actually kind of disturbing too. I’ve gotten coffee and corn muffins and/or croissants here in the morning — fine, standard coffee/treats kind of stuff. Except one time I said«coffee, just milk» and he gave me black coffee. I have also gotten lamb over rice during lunch, and that shit was TERRIBLE. I thought I wasn’t picky over this kind of stuff, until I went from having a good cart on the UES to this one. My first forkful of rice and lamb had a bone shard. It was also«made to order,» meaning it looked like it was cooked way early, stored in some little metal bin, and then throw on again when you placed your order and pressed with a block. Meh.

Not good. It’s one of those dining options that you wish you could take back. I’m telling you, the gyro meat tasted like it was simmering and re-heated for weeks. So after a bite and a half of tough mystery clumps, I dumped it in the trash. Almost any option is better than this.

It’s my third visit to NY, and my friends have been raving about chicken and rice. I’ve tried halal carts before but have always ordered a hot dog or some grilled bbq. Sorry to disappoint my chicken and rice fans, I went for a lamb gyro last night and my gf ordered the chicken gyro. Generous portions of meat served with lettuce, onions, bell peppers and white sauce. Ask for the spicy sauce too. You won’t be disappointed! I highly recommend the lamb over the chicken gyro. It was much more flavorful.
