ihouse recently changed the food provider from FLIK to AVI. Everyone hopes food will be better. After a while, I have noticed several times that they were changing the menu(compared to what they posted online) and selling leftover meat from the day before. I give an example here. Day 1, they had Korean bulgogi with beef chunk(same as online menu). Day 2, they supposed to serve linguine pasta with shrimp but changed to beef chunk all of a sudden!!!(online menu was linguine pasta with shrimp on next photo). I personally never ate pasta with ‘beef chunk’ before. After seen these several times, I questioned the chef why you guys kept changing the menus, the guy was nice, but his response was a bit silly, he said they are new company, the menu was from last company’s…

Back in 2007, now 8 years ago, they had a Mexican cook who made some very good omelets. The rest of the menu was basically tolerable, but for $ 5.50, the loss was minimal. Fast forward two years — that cook is gone. Two times when I went back to eat there around 2009 or 2010, I had to throw the food in the trash. Twice was enough and I never ate there again. Oh, and there are cameras.

Convenient for the students/families who don’t have time to cook or work too much. Staff is nice and friendly. Breakfast is not bad, salad bar too. Pizza is horrible. They do have OK grilled chicken served almost everyday. And they occasionally have some good meals like risottos, burritos, etc. served at the first station from where you enter. Overall food quality is not the best, but it’s nice to have a dinning hall to go to while I’m still at home and it’s freezing outside.

Really bad. Terrible food most of the times. If someone says that the food here is even ok, they have no idea about what the good food is. Although it is not expensive, the food doesn’t deserve that price.

I’ve been dining here daily for the past 2 months and it’s alright. At least we get to eat surrounded by a beautiful décor and it’s steps away from our dorms. There is always a salad bar, which is decent, with the usual condiments. Then there are usually 2 hot food stations, one usually serves chicken and vegetarian options, and the other one rotates different specialty foods such as crepes, stir fry, tacos, etc. It takes a while to know the tasty items from the bland tasteless ones(stay away from the pasta in the right hand hot station). I tend to stay away from the meats, but the chicken and the crepes tend to be very well prepared. The portions are enormous! I can never finish my plate. The desserts I usually pass on, they are not good, except for the warm apple cobbler which is made to perfection. Overall, it’s worth the cheap price and I don’t mind eating here regularly. Besides, the service here is always nice and friendly :-)

The proper name of this place should be ‘Comfort and Compromise’: comfort because the residents have a dining option within the house elevator, and compromise because they truly compromise many standards by dining there… I eat at Barnard/Columbia locations more often since the only consistently reliable option is a breakfast. Other meals tend to support a high-carb and low-taste diet which I am not a particular fan of. So it’s +1 from 1 star for convenience but not a dime more.
