Joanne Kaplan

Joanne was a significant help with transforming our apartment from a cluttered mess to a home that is organized and a pleasure live in. I never thought that I would actually enjoy cleaning out bedroom closets or emptying kitchen cabinets, but it became both a cathartic, educational and (often) fun experience. (Clients can have as much or as little involvement in the work as they choose, depending on their available time and interest.) Joanne has a natural talent for assessing a room and expertly evaluating just where it needs improvement. After several sessions, I started to develop this skill too. She knows how to accomplish her task at little or no extra cost to her client – we bought very few supplies, other than hangers, paper files and some plastic boxes. Her easy-​going manner, high energy level and genuine interest in my home made me look forward to her visits. She had a gentle way of helping me sort through sentimental items in a houseful of outdated clothing, outgrown toys and ‘way too much tupperware. She taught me how to make rational decisions about what to keep and discard, how to make the most of the small space in a cramped closet, and other easy skills that I can continue to use on my own in the future. Joanne obviously enjoys her work – that is probably why she is so good at it!
