Yes this place is touristy, but I just can’t resist coming here every time I’m in NYC. My husband and I love to come here for lunch to grab a board charcuterie with one of their cheese options(typically opt for the fresh mozz or burrata options) along with a glass of bubbly. So fun and the food is so tasty and high-quality. Love(even though, like I said — you need to battle the tourist crowd, which is something we typically try to avoid). Just prepare yourself for it, and you’ll be all good :)

This review is really for the seafood bar in La Piazza. Really great crudo and oysters at this bar. Scott runs that counter on most days and is a true professional. He knows your name and knows what you like. It’s the best service you will get from any counter in Eataly. Highly recommended!

La Piazza is a great way to kill time before an actual meal at one of the other Eataly restaurants. Eating here is always a bit of a hectic experience. You have to seat yourself, but since there’s a limited number of stools, you can also just find a space at a table and crowd around it. Upon finding a place to sit /stand, a waiter will quickly come over to take your order. My two friends and I shared the Grande Piatto Misto Di Salumi & Formaggi($ 23), which is an assortment of meats and cheeses, and a bottle of Rosato di Refosco 2014($ 32). This charcuterie board is definitely the best deal. There were 5 different types of cheeses and 4 different types of meat, though the meat was definitely dominated by prosciutto. It also came with bread, honey/almond spread, figs, and apricots. This was just the right amount of food for a light pre-dinner meal. For any unfinished wine, you can carry it over to any of the other restaurants in Eataly!

My date and I came here ready to eat good food. We decided to eat some cured meats and cheeses as appetizers before the main meal. There weren’t any seats available and we were told the seating was first come first serve so we found a standing table near the bar so we could move when seats became available. We ordered the grande piatto misto and glass of mozza morellino for my date as I was done drinking for the night. We requested olive oil for the bread but it never came, after asking another time, I went and got some myself. The breads I also had to go up to ask and retrieve myself each time. Service was not good. The piatto misto had 6 kinds of cured meats, 5 kinds of cheeses, side of fig jam, side of honey and apricots, side of honey and almonds. The couple next to us gave us olives. The meats were speck, mortadella, salami, prosciutto cotto, prosciutto san daniele, and prosciutto di parma. The cheeses were ricotta, gorgonzola dolce, pecorino, taleggio, and parmigiano reggiano. Each meat and each cheese were good. Eating them in different combinations was fun. Wanted more meat though. We saw seats available so we asked to move. We got the ok and we moved ourselves. Then our server told us we can’t move ’cause he told another table they couldn’t move. Then we had to move ourselves back! Another couple standing close to us asked our server if the seats were available. He said yes, first come first serve. So they sat down. WTF. I was beyond pissed off and my feet were killing me from standing. Better to stand and wait than to start eating on false promises. Service was poor. No one came to refill our glasses more than once. Had to get my own olive oil and bread.

Stopped by Eataly to pass the time before a late dinner reservation nearby and ended up hanging out at La Piazza. They set-up some high tables in the middle of Eataly where you can stand by, order wine/beer and lighter fares and enjoy it with a date or people watch. We asked our waiter his recommendation for a light red wine so my boyfriend and I each had a glass. For a quick snack, we also ordered the housemade bread with anchovy butter, tomatoes and milk of mozzarella. It was so simple but really good. We inquired if they sold the anchovy butter but unfortunately it’s only for the restaurant. It is actually an interesting concept and it was nice drinking there and sampling the food. I may consider coming back and doing that again.

Amazing prosciutto san daniele & mozzarella antipasto here. That and a bottle of prosecco made me very happy. The service is quite nice here, which I didn’t expect considering how touristy/crazy Eataly can be. Tip: don’t eat here if you mind standing for an hour+. I personally didn’t mind, but I can understand those who would want to stand for that long.

If you want a charcuterie plate, please get the grande piatto misto di salumi and formaggi($ 22). You won’t regret it. It comes with honey/almonds, fig, and some fruit. They went really well with the cheeses, and the salumi was mostly prosciutto. They also give bread with the plate, if only it was toasted. This setting is great for a date, or for enough people to take up a whole standing table. We had to share ours with a couple on a date, so it was a little awkward watching them eat their charcuterie plate before we got ours(we were hungry).

Every time I visit Eataly, I want to stand and drink in the Piazza and I finally got to do so this week! We each had a glass of wine and people watched as they walked around the grocery store. We ordered the largest cheese and charcuterie sampler and was happy with the portion. It was actually filling for 2 people. I heard the razor clams are delicious too but didn’t get a chance to try them. Until next time!

First, I wish I could put in half stars because it’s definitely better than ok… the food is to die for. HOwever the price kind of puts me off from claiming i’m a fan. We ordered the mixed meat and cheese platter, the mozzarella with prosciutto and some wine and sodas. Everything was excellent, including the service. I think the total came to $ 70 or $ 80, and this was just the appetizer for a family of five. I guess this place is more for hanging out with friends to split the bill with.

I always walk past the central cheese area while shopping in Eataly, and I always ogle the huge wedges of cheese when I do. I’ve sampled some of Eataly’s cheeses when I ate at Birreria, so I know what they have is GOOD, but two friends and I decided to stop by after BEA while we waited to hear back from the pizza/pasta place in Eataly. Verdict? I wish they had freaking chairs. My legs were killing me, and shifting from foot to foot every 30 seconds was not enjoyable. We got a five cheese and meat sampler. Four of the cheeses were enjoyable, though the last two were a little too soft and creamy for my tastes. I prefer the harder cheeses. Took a while for the server to make his way over to us, and then it took another 10 minutes to receive our order. I wish I knew what the middle cheese was. The Parm was amazing, and the Ricotta? Well, that’s just crack. Would I recommend coming here to eat? If all you want is wine, cheese, and meat, yeah. Otherwise, order the cheese sampler when you go to one of the other restaurants in Eataly.

I’ve been to La Piazza in Eataly multiple times, and it’s almost always crowded with people milling around, sampling cheeses, and eating(while standing) at some of the tables. Eataly is my go-to place for brunch when I wake up on a weekend with no clear ideas for what I want for brunch. Each time I come here with a friend, we grab two of the bar seats, order the $ 22 Grande Piatto Mistodi Salumi & Formaggi, two glasses of wine, and get to eating/chatting. The plate features about 5 – 6 cheeses as well as four varieties of salami. It doesn’t look like much, but it’s actually a lot of food for 2 people – I’ve come here with eating-tanks of guy friends, and we’ll usually walk away after our meal with something left over. The atmosphere of La Piazza is very chill and friendly. The cheese station also has a truffle cheese that is one of my personal favorites. Overall, I have no doubt I’ll continue coming to La Piazza in the future.

I love Eataly for its variety and quality but I always feel alittle stressed when I walk in. La Piazza made me feel no different. While I loved our dishes and wine, our table was smack in the middle of everything. Customers passing by would constantly bump into our table, interrupting our conversation. Space was very cramped and the noise level was LOUD. I would like to try coming for lunch during a week day when it is not as crowded and busy because I really do love the food here. Just when I come for dinner on Friday nights, it is so busy and crowded that it does not make for a relaxing eating experience.

After walking around Eataly for a bit a friend and I decided to grab a meat & cheese plate from La Piazza, which is an area set up in the middle of the market where you can stand at a marble top table to dine as if you are in Venice! It does get a bit tiring standing the whole time but they really do eat like this in Venice haha. If you’re lucky, there are bar seats but those are generally full with people drinking wine and chatting. We decided to get the Grande Piatto Mistodi Salumi & Formaggi, which is $ 22 and comes with a variety of cured meats and cheeses: + Prosciutto Cotto — which is cooked prosciutto! Looks like ham. + Prosciutto di Parma — the most popular variety. + Prosciutto di San Daniele — slightly sweeter than Parma. My favorite. + Mortadella — type of bologna cut into cubes. + Salami — slightly peppery. + Speck — juniper flavored cured ham. + Almond Infused Honey, Preserved Fig, Apricot for the cheeses + Fresh Ricotta — ricotta is ridiculously good with the honey + Parmigiano Reggiano — everybody knows this cheese + Pecorino Toscano — another popular Italian cheese sorta similar to Parmigiano. Nutty also. + Taleggio — soft smear cheese, similar to brie. + Gorgonzola — the popular thin veined blue cheese It also comes with some artisan bread and some EVOO + vinegar to dip the bread in. The bread is from the bakery counter in Eataly as well, and they have some solid baked goods. For $ 22, it is a bit expensive since you don’t really get much of everything but for a meat & cheese plate, it is quite complete! It may not look much but we were definitely surprised how long it took two guys to kill. I saw the table next to me ordering only the prosciutto and that was $ 15, which is definitely not worth it. The Grande is definitely the way to go and more bang for your buck! Most people were drinking wine but we weren’t really feeling wine so we went with the Italian beer, Birra Moretti Bionda. It’s was perfect since it is a golden lager so the beer didn’t mask the meat & cheese. Even though you stand in the middle, it is full service so someone will come by and take your orders and take care of you throughout your meal. Definitely way more casual. Feel free to ask any questions. Our server was quite helpful whenever we had questions for him, either about our order or Eataly in general!

Here’s the thing: I love being baller and drinking $ 15 glasses of wine while eating top quality meat and cheese platters; I just don’t think it’s possible to do it here on a regular basis. The quality is off the charts and the waiters/waitresses are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their products. They will talk to you and smile even if they have others that are waiting to be seated or served. It’s a double-edged sword because you love the conversation, but you are inevitably in the«ignored» state at least some of the time. It sounds like a pretty stressful job. Anyway, the standing is fine, but it’s the in middle of a busy super market, so it will definitely not be quiet. You also can’t guarantee that you will not be shouldered by some tourist walking by. It’s odd because it’s meant to resemble the markets in Italy, but the prices are jacked up due to the neighborhood. To be honest, I’d go again. It seems like a good date spot. I would recommend grabbing some wine at another place first for appetizers and then going here to top off the night. I’m a big fan of appetizers: restaurant hopping with appetizers(greater than) sit down and eating a full meal.

La Piazza is a great alternative to a committed sit down meal. Whilst meandering through the expansive 35,000 square foot behemoth that is Eataly, you can sample a variety of foods from all over the country. Have some Sicilian sardines, at the Pescateria. Enjoy some meat and cheese at the salumeria, and then indulge in some beer at La Bierreria. If you become bored in this place then you may want to check your pulse because you might be dead.

We had our name down at another restaurant within the Eataly world, so my family and I started off with a bite at La Piazza to tide us over. There are standing tables, meaning there is no wait. Just group around a table, look at the menus and someone will come and take your order. This might just be the best service I’ve encountered whilst standing the whole time. Huge wooden boards of meat and cheese around the room were getting my attention. So I persuaded everyone to go for the, «grande piatto misto di salumi and formaggi». It’s a charcuterie plate of five cheeses, and even more cured italian meats. A pleasant surprise was the little plate of marinated and sweetened figs and orange rind that accompany. Not as pleasant of a surprise was that the meat and cheese were all up on each other. Not an issue for me, but I was dining with vegetarians who specifically asked if the two could be kept separate on the board. Also plunked on the table, there were three slices of crusty bread wrapped up in paper. Don’t hesitate to ask for more if you can’t finish off the board with the allotted bread. I’m new to the land of meats but I can still identify that there were at least three different prosciuttos, mortadella, another cured ham and salami. Chalk board signs helped me out. The cheeses ranges from a creamy blue cheese, parmigiano, ricotta and a couple more that were tasty. I couldn’t get enough of mixing and matching the meat, cheese, figs and orange rinds. There were so many combinations to be made and I made them! All in all, it was the perfect beginning to the rest of meal at Eataly. A delicious yet casual time in a beautiful, grand room that is surprisingly quick.

Eaten here twice, the first time with Jennifer K(the first reviewer!). La Piazza is the nicest of the many casual dining areas in Eataly, located ala its namesake under a high dome. Many marble-topped standing tables are located in the center, and there are two bar seating stations on two corners, with wait service at both. No seating point here, just take any available seat or table space. The primary offerings here are selections of fresh mozzarella, Italian cured meats and cheeses, and fish. The market stations for fresh mozzarella and salumi are, not surprisingly, located in this area. Everyone is given thick slices of bread and a small platter of very good olive oil to dip. For beverages, a selection of Italian beers, wines, and sodas to choose from. Tried the mixed salumi platter(Grande Piatto Misto) and the proscuitto platter(Parma vs San Daniele), both arriving on a wooden paddle. Their proscuitto is truly excellent and some of the best I’ve ever had; mixed feelings about the other salumi but all is fresh. My favorite eats at La Piazza are the crudo, which come from the seafood bar. There are a few crudo offerings at a time, and these vary. I’ve tried 7 in all on my two visits, and adore them. The fish are invariably very fresh, and the seasonings and toppings generally well paired. The fish I’ve had are white tuna, black bass, fluke, sea bass, king fish, Spanish mackerel, and big-eye tuna. I definitely must try Il Pesce soon.

La Piazza is located right in the middle of Eataly. Great if you don’t feel like having a full seat down lunch or dinner and just want to have something quick and simple. It has full wait service… and the main different is that we ended up standing at one of the counters and have a quick bite… or if you are lucky, you got to sit at one of the bar stools… Crudo Del Marcato — 3 Selections($ 18) — Sashimi prepared Italian Style — white tuna, Sea bass and sea bream all nicely prepared with a dash of different garnishes to enhanced the overall experience Grande Piatto Misto Di Salumi($ 19) — A selections of the salami, prosciutto and bolgna — personally I only interested in the prosciutto… so I were eating them all while my friends not looking! :) My friends ordered Baladin Ginger($ 5.80) and Baladin Cedrata($ 5.80) to accompanied their food. the drinks were so sweet… and they didn’t enjoy that… While I enjoying my glass of Fruilano($ 8.00) with a big smile on my face! :)
