«No fee» listings posted on craigslist prompted me to contact them. I showed up at their office, was made to wait for 20 minutes, and then was given the song and dance about how prices just went up and availability just dropped, the no-​fee listings I had seen were still available but that the owners decided the day before not to pay the broker fee, etc.
Bait and switch.
Your word is not your bond, from what I see. I walked out.

Lesley is is awesome. I was moving from Seattle and only had a few days in the city to find a place before heading back to Seattle. All I had to do was tell her what I liked then we were off for the whole afternoon looking at apartments (all of which exactly matched what I wanted). She even worked through the weekend with me to make sure I got the apartment I wanted. I would highly recommend Lesley to anyone looking for a place to rent in NYC.

Lesley is a great real estate agent. She is very organized, efficient and really understands what you want in an apartment. Plus she seems to be well-​connected in the NY real estate market. I got my dream apartment within a couple of hours of looking and signed a lease the same day. Lesley stayed with me the entire time and was really helpful in navigating through the paperwork. And there were no high pressure sales tactics or bullcrap either. Lesley turned what could be a painful, dragged out experience into a truly remarkable one. Thanks, Lesley!
