Liberty Diner

After a family outing yesterday, we were all hubgry and wanted some lunch. The first three places had extremely long wait times and opted to give this place a shot because it seemed relatively empty.
We were given a seat rather quickly, but it basically went down hill from there. Took about 15 minutes before the order was taken, no water was provided and the waitress didn’t seem too friendly. As a group we ordered a burger and fries ($ 13), hot dog and fries ($ 7) and crab cakes and mashed potatoes ($ 16 and $ 7). The food came out rather quickly and I found it awkward because it was too fast and the food was lukewarm. Was this food just sitting there waiting?
Anyhow, the food was bland and lacked flavor. It was cold, the bread was not well toasted and overall just was not very good.
Finally, when I look at the bill, they automatically include the tip. I felt the service was not up to par and do not like places that include the tip.
Overall, I was not pleased with the good or service and will not come back again.

I ordered the Baja Burger which was supposed to have advocado on it. All it had was a smear of guacamole. Served on a partly stale brioche bun. I would have given one star but the cheesecake was pretty good.

We didn’t know what to eat and we were so indecisive because we wanted to play at Dave and Busters, but didn’t want to go too far to go eat. We ended up going here to eat since its downstairs from the Dave and Busters.
We had the Pastrami Sandwich, Meatball sandwich, and some onion rings. The Pastrami Sandwich was meh! They cooked it all the way through, so it kind of ruined it. The meatball sandwich lacked flavor and taste. The onion rings didn’t taste fresh. Tasted almost like the store bought one.
If you can yourself a diner, then why are the prices jacked up. Sandwiches, omelettes at a diner should not be in the double digits.
Food is very meh. Maybe I should have gone to the bar instead here.

Customer Service, What is that? The service was beyond horrible, and the food was okay. My friend and I was on vacation and decided to stop at Dave and Busters before going to the B.B. King All Stars Tour. Well, little did we know that Dave & Busters was located upstairs, so we walked in to the Liberty Diner assuming it was Dave and Busters. However, we decided to give it a try. Walked into the very empty diner and chose to sit at the bar. The bar had my friend, myself, and two other people. As we are sitting at the bar, the bartender never greeted us, nor attempted to give us a menu until we asked. Everything we received, we had to ask for it. My friend and I notice the tension the bartender is giving off, so I asked her if we did anything to her. She says, «I don’t like people who have attitudes.» I said ma’am we didn’t have an attitude, and precedes to say «that’s how I took it.» Afterwards, I called her manager and he says that he couldn’t be on the floor because he had two meetings; however he tried to compensate for the service by taking two drinks off the bil. Regardless of if food was comp or not, it’s the fact that service sucked and there are plethora of places to choose from, which we should have done.

I came here for conventional appetizers and they were fine. Liked the fried calamari. Their bathroom facilities is like a castle fortress… you’ll see.

$ 5 Margaritas and $ 4 Draft beers is all I needed to see in order to get drawn here!
In the heart of NY you will be lucky to be able to pay your rent that month after going out for drinks with friends! This place definitely eases the pain a bit! Living in NJ I always pass through times square coming into NY and this place is a MUST ! Their food is decent, would not go here if you want to be fully satisfied! Definitely good pre gaming place.
DELICIOUS spinach and artichoke dip served with warm little pita triangles (more dip then pita)
$ 4 draft beers are large glasses and NOT watered down at all.
$ 5 margaritas come in a LOT of flavors some being pineapple, mango, strawberry… HUGE texas sized glass and a decent amount of alcohol.
Downside is that sometimes this diner gets closed down for private events, a little disappointing but its not THAT often. Good for them that they are THAT wanted to close down the place!
A must for a stop by for a drink if in the area, but don’t go out of your way to get here!

I judt returned from the movies and had plans for later that did not include food. I had the roast beef sandwich which came with fries. All the food offered is reasonably priced. It is a nice sized space and there is a full bar. I would recommend and return

I’ve been coming here for a while now. since it was Famous Daves. Now as the Liberty Diner. there’s not much difference. Like everyone else is saying, stick with the Margaritas, $ 5 all day, every day, except Saturday. Only had the ribs once, a long time ago. Was good but pricey. Seems like the new neon marquee outside is bringing more customers than usual when I went in on a Wednesday nite and there were no seats at the bar. Sat at table for drinks only and was auto charged 18%.not fussing about it, just saying. Definitely a good place to start off with cheap drinks before going someplace else.

Great place! Food is delicious and everyone is friendly! Plus the happy hour is insane.

Really rude servers! My girlfriend went inside to ask for a napkin, and the host told her that he couldn’t give it to her AND to keep quiet!

I came here with a group a while ago and had calamari, overpriced and very distasteful. However, the margaritas for $ 5.00 warranted me a trip back.
I come today for the $ 5 margaritas at 4pm and before 5pm the waitress abruptly says «ok manager says happy hour is now over please pay!»
I did not pay. Instead ordered another. When the bartender tries to charge me full price, I pointed out the sign outside that was gone before I paid tab.
Why do you include tip on your bill? Is business that bad.

Real quick. Came here to have a few drinks. And I gotta say it may have been a bit pricey but for the amount of hard liquor they put in your mix drinks or even a shot. (Had a Jack & coke. Plus got a shot of crown royal) man they do you good if you are looking for a way to get buzzed really quick. Didn’t order food but their bar experience was good enough for 4 stars for me. :D

This is probably one of the worst places where we have ever dined in NYC. The dips accompanying the buffalo wings was distinctly giving out a old and stale taste. The buffalo wings itself was nothing to talk home of. The roast chicken gave out a stale and old feel not to mention that it was hard and dry. The spinach artichoke dip with the pita bread was worst. The onion ring fries were miserable in taste. The only real saving grace was the liberty quesidiala. All in all, a really really bad experience in dining out.

Stopped here after the theater in a Friday night. Both my husband and daughter got the Reubens and I did the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Food was tasty and everything started out fine until my husband found a small piece of plastic in his sandwich.
When we told the waiter, he was apologetic and spoke to the manager. We received 10% off and he took our soft drinks off the bill. Personally, I think he should have at least comped both Reubens as my daughter’s could have had something in it as well.
Very noisy as there is a club right behind the restaurant, too.
Will not ever be returning here.

I always have had a love for diners, and I had to try this wonderfully located restaurant. It is hard to ruin eggs and toast, but this place somehow has found a way. Hopefully, someone will take over this interim restaurant. If you ever think about trying this place I advise you to keep on walking!

All I can say is Margarita Monday!
I had a great night turned hung over a few times. Well worth it.
Food isn’t the focus here. I’ve had under cooked wings but definitely come for games and margarita monday. Eat before you come!

It was ok but absolutely nothing beyond that.
Had to seat ourself cause no one was there to help even though a sign was saying please wait to be seated. Server came and took our order after a long time (there were not a lot of customer other than us so I don’t know what she was doing). Food took kind of long to get but was okey.

I came here when it first opened and it wasn’t packed at all. I ordered the Liberty Burger. I must say I was very surprise. It was delicious, even when I took it home and reheat it the next day. Their fries could be better. The place is a tad bit expensive but we’re in Times Square, what can you expect?
