Metro Apartments

This is not a hotel but is a great option for extended stay. Several of us were in New York for month. Having a kitchen is a big money saver. Apartments on upper floors are fully furnished including linens and Location on Hells Kitchen gives you great access. Building has coin laundry and periodic cleaning can be arranged with front desk. Very nice staff.

Just so you know, this place is not a legal hotel and has 3 lawsuits pending from the city, which attempting to shut it down. It’s received 28 violation notices since 2013. Take your chances!

Well this started out all wrong and ended up all right!!! When we arrived on a Friday in September for check in we found out we made the reservation for December instead of September. The hotel staff was very understanding. In fact the manager upgraded our 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom apartment.

I was excited about staying here and wanted to love it as staying in larger one bedroom apartments is how we like to travel in NYC since hotel rooms are usually very small. The location is perfect. I’m sure it would have been a good stay.
Unfortunately Metro Apartments doesn’t understand it’s contracts with 3^rd party booking sites (best price guarantee) and chose to not honor their obligations. The reservation which I made well in advance had to be canceled last minute and I had to scramble to find another place in time. Plus, Metro refused to refund my deposit. Ultimately Metro Apartments honored their obligation to refund my money (only because they had to pursuant to their contract with 3^rd party booking site) but the pain in the rear they caused is the reason for this review. If none of this had happened I am sure we would have enjoyed our stay. This review is based solely on their customer service practices.
I guess I have to thank them because we had a great stay at The Wellington Hotel and have already booked our next stay.

I don’t know about the one star reviews, but my boyfriend and I had a great stay! Front desk was really nice. I mean it is not hotel style, but literally all and everything you need is there; a refridgerator, a stove, and microwave… For those non-​out-​eating-​days. The noises outside weren’t bad for us because we expected New York to be that way; I mean come on.. IT’S NEW YORK! Plus from roaming the streets all day we were exhausted anyways to mind it. It’s in an awesome location!!! Super close to times square, literally right around the block (you wouldn’t be able to find anything cheaper) and the room was not small or cramped at all. Plus we were out all day and would come back to rest or sleep. Overall would definitely use them again!

Awful experience — would not recommend to my worst enemy.
First and foremost, they over-​booked and failed to provide the room I had reserved and paid in-​full for almost 1 month ahead of time. Rather than contact me earlier in the day to inform me they waited until I had arrived to inform me that I had nowhere to stay that night.
After being thoroughly unapologetic, they sent me on a goose chase through NYC to find another property they had arranged for me to stay in. I’m referring to this as a ‘goose chase’ since they sent us to the incorrect hotel at first and then expected us to magically interpret their incorrect instructions.
Upon returning to this hotel, we were placed in a ‘Deluxe’ room which had an awful odor inside of it. We switched out of this room into another room and were initially happier as it appeared to smell better and look cleaner. This initial euphoria was quickly squashed when we noticed a nice sized cockroach crawling on the wall in the kitchenette, adjacent to the bed.
Location is decent (in terms of being near Times Square) but I would honestly avoid this place like the plague. Room itself was very noisy (road-​traffic) and the heating unit was quasi-​functional at best.
The only reason this place deserves even 1 star is because the desk attendant was as helpful as they could be given the number of massive issues plaguing this hotel.

I overheard another guest ask the desk clerk about an upscale room like the one he stayed in last time, so I infer there ARE upscale rooms. Mine was not. It was spartan and rundown. There was a lot of road noise, but I didn’t mind that – it was just white noise, albeit loud white noise. The first night I was there, there was a rhythmic thump thump thump all night long, like a barely heard drum beat, and I did find that distracting.
The location was iffy. I was close to Broadway, but I wasn’t real sure I wasn’t going to get mugged after dark.
On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and bug-​free, and the folks working at the front desk were nice.
I don’t plan to stay there again.

Great place to stay for a trip to NYC! My husband and I stayed in the deluxe studio and it was perfect for us. It was a 10 min walk to Times Square and staff was very friendly. Good location with great price!

My son and I got this hotel through Hotwire! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT recommend it! I got it through the secret hotel deal, BAD IDEA. ITS RATED 3 Stars but I wouldn’t give it even 1. It’s a bad location, it’s not a hotel and it looks like they don’t know what they are doing.

First of all, this isn’t a hotel. It’s a run down residential building where the owners illegally rent vacant apartments – why do you think it’s so cheap? Too loud, zero security (and while NYC is pretty safe these days, the Port Authority area isn’t *that* safe) and forget customer service. I’d rather stay at one of the rooms that rent by the hour.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. It was dirty and loud and you hear the buses from Port Authority ALL night. It is also in a somewhat scary area. You have to walk down a very narrow island in order to get to the train station. The island is so narrow that the cars passing you could hit your elbow. Definitely stay somewhere else!

This is NOT a hotel, it is an apartment building being used as an ILLEGAL hotel. It is loud, unsafe, disorganised and has cockroaches and mice. You can hear them in the walls! The elevators are loud and the laundry room is broken. Yes, the rooms are cheap and that means cheap people rent them and party and smoke at all hours. It’s loud and you will get NO SLEEP.
If you think this is the place to party, the tenants who live here will get pissed off and call the police and you will have NYPD at your door. Guaranteed.
Half the time your room isn’t ready when you get here and the keys to the door don’t even work.
There is no lock on the front door and often no security at the FRONT desk. The building is on a dark street between two homeless shelters and **anyone can walk in at any time**. THIS BUILDING IS ***NOT SAFE***.
AGAIN, THERE IS NO LOCK ON THE FRONT DOOR, MINIMAL SECURITY AND ANYONE CAN WALK IN AT ANY TIME.
The sounds from outside are no big deal — just the white noise of the city. However, «housekeeping» will wake you up every day screaming and banging on your door. They will continue to screech like chickens in the hallway the entire time they are on your floor — way worse than anything New York can dig up on its own.
Do yourself a favor and STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE like a PROPER HOTEL and ***HELP THE CITY SHUT DOWN ILLEGAL HOTELS LIKE THIS ONE***

Have. to. write a review on 11÷11÷11… Sooo. I’ll review this lovely place, where the family and I spend a week whilst visiting the big apple.
Unlike the typical/​obvious hotel choice, we decided to give this place a go.
Were attracted to the idea of staying at a condo for our stay here. We were 4 people and so it was great having all the space and having the option of cooking at our room/​condo. So that’s already a great start.
Our condo was a spacious one bed on the 11^th floor. Newly decorated and furnished, we had 2 king beds, living room, kitchen… Need to mention here that the place is all being remodeled, and so far it is looking good.
Metro Apartments is located just off 9^th Ave, so plenty of places to go out for a drink or meals. Walking distance to Times Square and central subway stations. Very convenient.
‘Metro’ is also very (very!) close to Port Authority which means that it can get quite noisy in the AM due to the consistent flow of bus traffic. My brother in law was pissed off, I just found it to be a part of the charm and experience of residing in NYC…
Staff is very friendly though there were some ‘bumps’ throughout our visit. We were later told that they are working on staff training/​replacement…
Can’t wait to be back in town and I sure do hope that i’ll be staying here. Really enjoyed the experience, or illusion, I should say that I have an apartment at this amazing city.

When we entered the lobby it was less than impressive. But when we opened the door to the apartment we rented for a couple of days we were BLOWN AWAY. Chances are we entered a unit that had JUST been renovated. But what matters is, we were super-​happy with the cleanliness, location and space we got for what we paid.

I love this place. Long as you bring your towels and coffee, this hotel/​apt is great. If you are young and able, this hotel is perfect. You just have to walk through the slums to get their, but welcome to NYC! The view of our room was a beautiful metropolis skyline, the room was contemporary and clean, you have a balcony to watch the sunrise and you are a five minute walk from Times Square. I said five because you betta walk fast and don’t get caught slipping. The apartment is newly renovated. If you have a male or if you are a male you are ok. If you are a female, you should catch a cab or pay my way and I will be your personal bodygurad.

DO NOT stay in these apartments. The location is as bad as you could get in the city. Practically IN the Lincoln tunnel so you have trucks and buses going by all day and night. The neighborhood is awful, even though Times Square and the Theater District are so close. I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy and wouldn’t stay there again if it was the LAST available apt in Manhattan.
