Modern Trousseau

I had a wonderful experience at Modern Trousseau. Nicole, the sales person, was extremely helpful, and my appointment was among the best that I had (and I went to lots of places). The showroom is beautiful; the gowns are lovely and gorgeously made; and the general vibe is relaxed, fun, and easy. I ended up finding my dress here — one that Nicole suggested that I didn’t even try on – and can’t wait to wear it.
I went to Modern Trosseau’s factory in Connecticut for my allegations and found the service to be amazing as well. It’s a pain to get there, but for me, it was worth it. My seamstress, Monica, was clearly an expert in her trade and was very helpful. My dress fits perfectly and I couldn’t be happier.

I had the most amazing experience buying my wedding dress from Modern Trousseau! From the beginning to end, everything was perfect. Nicole in the showroom is such a sweetheart, and listens to exactly what you want. She gave great advice, and I truly appreciated having her there. She never made me feel rushed, and was very patient and kind. The show room is amazing, and they have such beautiful gowns there, it was hard to choose «the one»! The seamstress I had was also amazing– and really listened to every little detail of what I wanted for my dress. Not to mention, my dress was so comfortable, I had so much fun dancing in it all night!

I can’t say enough good things about Modern Trousseau! The dresses are lovely. The fabrics are supreme and the designs are super flattering. The showroom is gorgeous. Nicole who runs the showroom is a doll and super helpful. The experience was just wonderful. Go here!

As promised, I came back here after I got engaged this year and found my dress! April is no longer there, but Nicole was just as friendly and amazing. She worked with my budget and I’m so happy I’m going to be a Modern Trousseau bride! Can’t wait until November when I do my first fitting and can see it again!

Pros:
* Made an appointment via email. Email responses from David was very prompt (even on a Sunday, when they aren’t working!)
* Very nice, spacious dressing rooms with a large mirror and pedestal.
* The main room has an even larger and a single pedestal to get a better view; unfortunately, there can be more than one appointment at one time, so it might be occupied when you want to use it!
* The bathroom is clean and spacious, but you need to borrow a key and the bathroom is actually in the stairwell.
* Was offered cold, bottled water and given a glass.
* Was permitted to look around the showroom while I waited for my consultant to become available.
* Dresses are made to measure, and various customizations can be made.
* Friendly service, the consultant suggested dresses for me based on our discussion (even removing one from a mannequin for me).
* Nice selection of belts and hair accessories to try on with the dress.
* Well laid-​out showroom with lots of light. Easy to see the dresses, and they have large tags with their style name on them. There were multiples of the dresses, so I assume there were either variations or different sizes.
* They were offering a 10% off promotion, though I do not know if this is always running.
* The samples appeared to be in very good condition.
* There were a large variety of styles to choose from, and several with different types of lace than the typical ones you come across. There did seem to be a lot of satin in the dresses, though.
Cons:
* My appointment started about 10 minutes late, as the prior group was taking a bit of time finishing up.
* The dresses are on the pricier side, but are made to measure. We did not discuss budget before hand, so it’s possible I tried on dresses out of my budget.
* I had to ask for the price of my favourite dress at the end of my appointment, but it was not written down for me.
* It turns out you need to make a trip to Connecticut to be fit in a muslin dress (!! wish they told you this up front)
I did like one dress very much, but the price was a little more than I wanted to spend, and the trip out to CT was a bit surprising to me (although, I think if I had LOVED the dress, I would have found a way to justify the road trip and found a way to make it happen). Overall, I definitely enjoyed my visit to Modern Trousseau. I recommend visiting if your budget is over $ 3500 and like the idea of a made-​to-​measure dress (and don’t mind the trip out to CT). The pictures on the website do not really do the dresses justice, as I thought every dress looked better in person. The service was very friendly, but I recommend speaking up if you have questions.

I bought my dress here and had the most wonderful experience every time I came into the shop. I LOVE APRIL! …and the designer is a gem, just love her mannerisma and her gorgeous designs! I felt so special!

The showroom is really spacious and so cute. My girl friends and I were so impressed by April. She was so nice, attentive and helpful. She really listened and paid attention to what kind of dress I wanted, but also interjected with her expertise when necessary. After trying on all the dresses, we even hung around for a few minutes chatting about her dog. Such quality…(dresses and service).

I commend April for her patience and her professionalism! She made the entire experience of dress shopping less stressful by being very attentive and not once did I feel any sort of pressure to buy a dress. I attest to the aforementioned experiences everyone else has had with dress shopping here.
