After a nice stroll through The High Line and was about to head home until I walked past Mr. Brainwash Pop-Up: Life is Beautiful. Wow the artwork put a big smile on my face with a little tongue sticking out like =P I am so impressive with how his mind works while creating these individual pieces. I provided my name and email address for the mailing list and would love to know about his upcoming events. He’s so talented( ) FREEADMISSION so make sure you stop by!

I discovered the place on my way to the Highline. It was unexpected and curiously appealing. I’m not a fan of art(except maybe street art) but I enjoyed looking at the different creations made here. The current exhibit«Life is beautiful» sums it up. Spending half an hour inside looking at the different pieces of art simply made my day. I would recommend to check out the gallery for people visiting the Meatpacking/Highline. Entrance was free.

Perfect location, you can check out the gallery and then walk the high line great work on display. The art exhibit is one of the largest Mr Brainwash exhibits I’ve been lucky to explore. It’s far from a stuffy gallery you’re able to explore and photograph as many of the pieces on display as you wish. Enjoy while the pop up is still around.

Watching the documentary film, Exit Through The Gift Shop, it is clear that Mr. Brainwash’s work isn’t super original. However, having worked in the meatpacking district(circa 2009) and being entertained by the constantly changing posters created by Mr. Brainwash posted on temporary construction walls, I have always been a fan. Though I did like that he frequently created new art that made my commute to work more colorful and interesting, it was evident that he was kind of an one-note artist who was nowhere near Banksy’s caliber. So, this gallery surprised me. I got to see way more than poster prints of iconic figures. His work had a lot of texture, with the Daft Punk duo being created by broken CDs and records, as well as animals being created by tire pieces. It was nice to see him create 3D pieces for a change. One of his most memorable work in my opinion was a toy taxi cab in a box made life size with a real cab inside a giant box, with a price tag on it.

Came here today to check out the digs. Wasn’t familiar with the artist until a friend introduced me to it and suggested we hit it up. Pretty large number of people doing the same, but still plenty of room to roam. Vast space I never noticed in the area before(then again, west of 9th always gets questionable). Liked the exhibit despite not being an art fan(if it’s technically considered as such). Some of the portions seemed a bit poorly put together/initially assembled, but maybe that was the point? Grabbed a poster and some quasi-postcards on the way out pre-brunch.
