Salon Pigmentos

Not only did they not listen to how I wanted my hair, the stylist mentioned that golden brassy (which is not at all what I wanted) looked really bad and unnatural. That is exactly what I ended up with, a tacky goldish orange.
The look I wanted was somewhat highlighted/​ombré but they just died my hair one flat color and it looks absolutely terrible. Bottom line: if you want something that is more complicated, like ombré or highlights, this salon isn’t the place for you.
On top of that, it cost $ 300.
Lastly, my hair was cut entirely unevenly by about 2 inches on one side.

Simply put, Nery at Pigmentos is the best hair stylist ever! I have hugely thick, wavy and curly hair that is usually unruly, frizzy, and impossible to cut well. I have lived all over the country and I’ve gotten too many horrible haircuts to count. If you’ve got big hair like me, you dread walking into a new salon because you never know what you’re going to get. When I moved to NYC, I used Unilocal to find Pigmentos based on all the positive reviews of Nery, and I was not lead astray! She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it on her first cut, and spends so much time making sure it’s layered well and balanced. Also, her hair cuts last a really long time. Usually I can get about 6 weeks out of a cut, but Nery’s magic makes them last 8 weeks or more! She is also just such a genuinely nice person, so it makes going to the salon really something to look forward to. Her rates are insanely reasonable for NYC. If you have curly hair and you live in the NYC area, go to Nery! You won’t be sorry!

I do not ever write reviews on Unilocal,but Daniela deserves one. She did such an amazing job on my hair and I have gotten an overwhelming amount of compliments. It was my very first time coloring my hair and I was very, very nervous, but she talked me through the entire thing and is the sweetest woman. Daniela knows exactly what she is doing and I left with me hair feeling extremely healthy even though I had just gotten it colored. The color looks natural and the price was so reasonable for the level of expertise Daniela has. If you are looking to get your hair colored for a great price by someone who knows exactly what they are doing — Daniela is your girl!

I came in here one summer afternoon after googling «salon for curly hair». I’ve been coming ever since. Ive had my hair cut as well as had my grays colored and i’m never disappointed. Sure, you can go to Ouidad or DevaChan for a superior «curl specialist» cut, but for the price, this is really fantastic. I mean, Nery has curls — you gotta trust a person who has curls herself. And, if you’re a curly girl who likes a blow-​out after a haircut — these ladies really are magic. My blowouts last at almost a week while still holding the beautiful curled ends like I like. I cant love this place more. Really… give it shot.

After having relocated to NYC from NC and a great hair dresser, I was very nervous about letting anyone touch my hair but I was getting desperate, it had been about 15 weeks since my last haircut (and for those of you with curly hair, you know what that kind of extra weight means to volume).
In the interest of not paying NYC prices, I searched for lower price hair salons and stumbled upon Salon Pigmentos.
I was given an appointment for 11 AM (open time) easily the day before. I arrived a little early and the owner was outside sweeping up some trash and told me to have a seat. She seemed very welcoming.
The shop itself is nice, small but basically maintained. Now I will say, this is not a luxury experience but unfortunately, high maintenance women really aren’t my type anyway.
My hair was first shampooed and conditioned. I sat down at the chair and the owner, Maria was my stylist. We discussed what I wanted and what problems I was having. I think for me, it helped that she had curly hair about the length that I desired mine.
I first received a wet cut, then a blow out, then a dry cut finish.
Overall, I was very impressed with my cut (which cost $ 55) and absolutely adored Maria. She seems very friendly and has built a great network of women who come in regularly to see her.
I may venture out for some highlights and will most likely return.

This is actually a review for my friend who got her hair colored here recently. I discovered this place on Unilocal a few days ago and I knew this is where she had to go for her birthday hair color. The reviews do not lie! This place is amazing!!! The people were super welcoming. They listened to everything she had to say and took their time to understand. The first time her color didn’t come out much and wasn’t too see-​able, so Daniela (my friend LOVES her) did it again and took her time to make sure everything was perfect. Daniela won’t let you go half satisfied, she makes sure you are full satisfied and happy and she’s happy with her work! She even complimentary styled her hair for her! Her hair came out so well!!! I’m so glad I found this place to recommend to my friend who got her hair dyed for he first time in her life. I plan to come here one day in the future to pop my air dyeing cherry! Haha, this place is definitely underrated and deserves more customers!

Absolutely loved this salon. I found this place by searching Unilocal and doing a lot of price and review comparison and I was definitely not disappointed. Daniela takes her time to walk you through the process and understand what you want. She gave me the perfect color and cut and was jus so nice to talk to. I had previously gone to a very popular salon for a similar process and was unhappy with the results, mainly because it felt rushed, impersonal and frankly like they just wanted to get me out of the chair. Daniela took her time and slowly took my hair to a color that I was happy with. In terms of pricing, it’s the best quality service for a great price. They charged me much less, for more services, then what I originally paid at the high end salon and the results where so much better. Will definitely be back and so happy to have found a stylist I feel I can trust.

I’m writing a new review because I feel really bad about one I had written a couple of months ago. Nery fixed a previously bad haircut and cut it quite short in order to make it grow in better. I think that just needed to be explained better. It took 5 weeks but it turned out to be one of the best haircuts I’ve had. It grew in really nice with a really good shape. I apologize and want to say that Nery does a great job!

5-​Star affordable salon! My hair was colored by Daniela and cut by Nery. I never colored my hair before this (I was a little nervous). Daniela was so helpful. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. I loved how my hair turned out and I enjoyed the time spent in the salon.

I went to Pigmentos in march 2015. At first I really liked the cut I got there. But the volume and nice shape lasted only till the first wash. I later noticed the cut was unsimetrical. It didn’t look terrible, but it was nothing like it first looked in the salon, which means it was just the styling, not the cut that at first made my hair look so great. On the top of that– I was charged $ 55 instead of $ 40 as I was told on the phone that I would pay.

Nery gave me the long layers I’ve always wanted! I’ve been to numerous upscale salons and always walked away disappointed. Nery listened to what kind of style I was going after and nailed it! She even gave some great advice on color – which I will be going back very soon for.

Love this place! I had my hair cut there for the first time recently, and the stylist (Neri? Can’t quite recall the spelling, sorry!) did an excellent job on my long layers. When I’ve gone to other places to get a trim on my curly/​wavy hair, it’s usually kind of… Snip snip, done. She really took the time to make sure every section looked good, and worked on the edges so it wasn’t just dead straight… I haven’t had anyone do that for my hair in the longest time!
Best part was that my cut can work curly or straight — there was zero pressure to blow it out, but this time I chose to, and she did a fabulous job. I was actually turning heads when I left the salon, so I’d say that’s a great result.
The price is standard for the area, but I think you get your money’s worth here, so I’d recommend them. Do set up an appointment if you can so you don’t wait much, but there are flexible. So lucky to have them close by– plan to go there for my next cut!

After years of searching, I’ve finally found my salon. After complimenting a stranger who had the nicest haircut I’ve seen in a while, I was referred to Nery at Pigmentos. She is amazing! I absolutely love my hair and I had a great time with her. Finding the right salon is life changing. I’m so happy with Nery and her team at Pigmentos!

I just moved to NYC and needed a blonde colorist. I’ve had several disasters in the past, so I’m picky about the process and was anxious about finding someone new. I chose Salon Pigmentos based on Unilocal reviews.
I’m pretty happy with the results. Nery and her staff are complete sweethearts and listened to everything I had to say before getting started. She explained what she was doing and why before she did it, and checked in throughout the process to ensure I was happy. It took ages because I had a single process, highlights, and toner, but I’m pleased with how it turned out so I don’t mind — although I’m glad it was a slow day (Sunday) because otherwise I would’ve felt bad that they spent so much time on me.
The price was reasonable, especially for Manhattan. I don’t give 5 stars because the blonde isn’t exactly what I was looking for; there are too many dark areas on the underside and the tone is a little warmer than I prefer.

I love this place! I had been looking for a new salon since the last place I went to cause a bunch of my hair to fall out. Since I’ve been here Daniela has taken me from a medium brown to a lovely blonde with little to no damage to my hair. Both Nery and Daniela are lovely. They both take their time to hear what you want and they take time to talk to you and get to know you.
The prices are very reasonable, especially for Manhattan prices.

I get the best color in NY-​Nery knows exactly what to do with all kinds of hair and textures. I have never been disappointed with her service. Always smiling and accommodating as well!

Nery and Daniela are fabulous! I was looking for a new place on Unilocal for a color correction after I was unhappy with the results at another salon. I came in and Daniela did a wonderful job fixing it. She was very sweet and a great stylist.
I went to see her again to finally get some highlights in my hair and I was very pleased by the results. I have long dark and and have relieved compliments by numerous people.
The salon was clean, affordable prices and friendly talented staff stylists! I would definitely recommend this place!

I was really nervous about finding a new salon. However after reading many positive Unilocal reviews I decided to take a chance with Salon Pigmentos! Daniela and Nery were extremely warm and made me feel at home.
Nery listened to everything I wanted for my cut and even added some great ideas. The process was smooth and rapid, while taking their time.
This will not be my last time attending Salon Pigmentos. The prices are great, and the staff are amazing.

I was careful about which place to pick considering it was the first time going from dark brown to blonde. I wanted one with a high rating on Unilocal with one dollar sign to start. And then location was a factor. After narrowing it down to this and another place, I had a better feeling about this one so I called them up first and was able to get an appointment the same day on a Saturday.
I want to thank them first for being so patient with me. I can’t make a decision to save my life. I like so many different colors but deep down blonde was what I wanted. Both women there were very helpful in helping me decide and the ending result looked absolutely gorgeous.
I was also happy to know they keep record of what exact color they used on my hair so I don’t need to worry about wondering which color it was they used when I go back again.
Overall it was a great experience and I wish them luck in their new location. (Around the corner from the current one after Oct 29)
