My wife and I went here because it was rated the second best steakhouse on the Bozone, and we were celebrating my birthday. I ordered a 16 oz New York Strip, and she got the Manhattan Steamer. Except for an outstanding steak and noodle soup and the sherbet dessert at the end, all the extras included in the dinner were definitely meh(and we sampled all of them between the two of us). Even my fries were entirely unseasoned, unsalted, and cold when I got them. The steak looked amazing and I was really excited about it, but when I actually ate it, it was mostly flavorless, and any flavor that was there was entirely overpowered by a very strong char flavor(and I ordered it medium rare). The steak was not good… at all, and I’m not hard to please when it comes to steak. However, the Manhattan Steamer was delicious. The sauce all the mussels and clams were sitting in was amazing. They were obviously very busy, we really didn’t have any service. I should have told the waitress about the steak(perhaps it was a fluke), but we really didn’t see her. I did let the person at the front desk know, but she just asked if we had told the waitress, said sorry, and said she hoped we would come back. Overall, it was a very expensive meal with virtually everything subpar except for the soup and Manhattan Steamer, a steak I had to try very hard to enjoy the whole time hoping it would get better, and we will definitely not be going back there to eat again. At least from our experience tonight, very overhyped.

I ordered the tenderloin which was the worse steak I’ve ever had. My mother ordered the same & wasn’t happy with hers either. I don’t understand the hype of this place. It’s subpar food at best. You have to try restaurants out for yourself because there is no accounting for taste after reading other reviews. My husband had the steak & lobster & he wasn’t as excited eating Oasis’s surf & turf like at other restaurants. Total waste of money. The staff is nice but that’s feeding my soul not my appetite.

Reminiscent of the steak houses of old. Be sure to get reservations. We ended up in the bar, but had great service. From the relish tray to the post prime rib dessert, we left fat and happy.

This place was outstanding from beginning to end! The staff was friendly, efficient, & extremely helpful no matter whose table it was. Every bite was worth the price, from the pickled yummies to the steak & oysters. Will definitely be back!!!

Ate dinner here the locals said the place to go for steak. We were not impressed waitress was not real friendly, food was dry and over cooked tough steak. Very pricy for the amount of food you get, not sure i will return being new to the area.

We were quite pleased. Those steak fingers really are good, my wife thought they were a bit salty. The service was wonderful, and the portions were huge.

I love eating here, you almost get too much to eat but there is always the«to go» bag. The atmosphere is lacking but thats ok the food makes up for it.

Delicious! Service was great! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Had a pork chop with baked potato. Also sirloin steak and fries. Nothing bad to say, had a wonderful experience

The Oasis is perhaps our favorite restaurant in the Bozeman area. We have dined there many times, and the meals are always excellent. The lunch at the bar can be easily over looked, but if you decide to give it a try you should get the steak fingers. The steak fingers are battered and fried and taste like heaven! Dinner time is very busy so be sure to make reservations– days in advance if possible. Absolutely stop in and enjoy a great meal!

I used to live in Manhattan, and the 12 years I lived there I never had the chance to go out to eat here. I finally did the other day, went for lunch and it wasn’t busy. Service was alright. My friend ordered the Rib Steak, which I know are supposed to be fatty but that steak had so much fat in it they couldn’t eat about a quarter of it. Other than that it was a good steak. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe, I liked it. The fries were very airy and light though, probably prepackaged. The waitress was nice, and got our food out to us in good timing.

sat in the bar for my birthday dinner and got great table service. everyone enjoyed their food, particularly my friend who ordered the steak fries. the lobster on my plate was a little overdone but the steak was prepared perfectly. beyond this perfection however, the flavor of the beef wasn’t anything to write home about. perhaps I had high expectations because of the other reviews I read, but for me it was just a regular steak. as others have mentioned, the relish was great, the salad wet, the soup flavorful, and the bleu cheese mild but nice.

When I read how many beef-lovers touted the steak quality, I knew we had to try it but I was still very skeptical. Why shouldn’t we try a place in downtown Bozeman? What could be so great about the only restaurant in Manhattan(population 1,500)? After dining here, all I can say is: YOUMUSTGOHERE. These were some of the best steaks we’ve had in years. Maybe one of the best in our entire life. It’s casual, though not divey on the inside — there are heavy vinyl tablecloths and nothing fancy about the dining room, but what they lack in fancy they well make up for in the beef. I forgot to make reservations but it was 5pm on a Monday night and we lucked out and got seated immediately.(The place did fill up very quickly after that though — on a Monday night! Make reservations.) Our server was friendly but not over-attentive, and she knew the menu and her steaks well. Very pleasant experience — the relish plate(raw carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, a couple pickles) and cracker basket was a nice, though very casual, intro. Nothing to be too excited about but it was a nice touch and kept our baby happy while waiting for the meal. My husband ordered the special, a Kansas City cut(a type of New York) over a bed of butter and salt. His and mine, a top sirloin, were spectacular. Perfectly cooked to order, tender, juicy, a flavor like none other. They nailed all the aspects of a perfect steak, so rare these days in restaurants. The entrees are served on these funny scuffed metal plates, but the food is worth every bit of fancy-presentation it lacks. All the steaks are served with soup or salad, choice of potato AND garlic toast(too much to finish!), and, get this, dessert — a small but fun little sundae with homemade chocolate syrup or sherbet. Who does dessert anymore? A nice touch. The soup is the way to go — I tried to be healthy with the salad but the lettuce was so wet my dressing(a delicious, house-made blue cheese) couldn’t stick to it and I ate watery lettuce, since there were no other accoutrements(carrots, tomatoes, etc.) — just lettuce. The fries were very good. So much food I had to take some home. However, let’s be honest — with the huge slab of perfectly cooked beef you get, nothing else really matters. That alone is worth the price tag of the meal. Highly recommend. You don’t find places like this much anymore. Keep going and keep it in business so I can come again next time we’re in Montana.

So, I buy sides of beef. I’m hard to impress with restaurant steaks. I would go to Bozeman once a month, everyone always hyped the place up. I was ready to be disappointed, was I wrong. Typical Montana bar type atmosphere, which is great. Steaks so big they more than cover a plate, cooked to perfection. Cannot comment on desert, I was too stuffed. Fantastic!

I was lucky enough to enjoy dinner here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. All I can say is it quite honestly was the best Prime Rib I have ever eaten! there were close to 100 guests, and the waitstaff handled it like Pro’s! we started off with relish plates and crackers, then a cup of amazing sausage and wild rice soup! a crispy fresh salad with home made dressings, our main courses(we were given a choice of several steaks, Prime or a couple seafood dishes) and topped off with a chocolate sundae! From the outside it looks like a dive… Don’t judge this book by its cover! I really wish it wasn’t a 10 hour drive or I would be back this weekend!

Make reservations! Steaks are great and waitstaff is friendly and down to earth. Kind of a small place but great food! Don’t expect fancy dinning just good old fashion food!

So wonderful! Loved the relish plate, the food, the atmosphere, it was a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband. He love the tenderloin and I lived the deep fried finger steak. The wait staff was super friendly and took good care of us.

I was recommended this place by a real gourmand, but reviews have been spotty. We found the atmosphere perfect – certainly not a «fine dining» feel, but kinda campy and very family friendly. The relish tray was tasty, but not fresh cut. This was later in the evening, and the tray was probably prepared in the morning. Cracker basket was great, but would have liked to cap off the retro feel by finding some Melba toast! The grilled halibut was moist and tender. Great flavor. The bone-in ribeyes were prepared to perfection! Fabulous piece of beef! Finished off with the complimentary fruit sherbet. Perfect end to a perfect meal.

Everyone told me how amazing it is, the best steak in Montana, etc. etc. It was okay. I think they have a reputation that they are choosing to use, without any increase in service or advanced amenities, just my opinion. Arrived for a dinner reservation at 6 pm and the place was busy. We were seated promptly, with no welcome or have you been here before. The hostess left our menus at the end of the table, very far from where we sat as we waited for the rest of our party. They had veggies waiting and brought squeeze bottles of ranch and dressings. The overall feel was very laid back and country, nothing fancy to look at. As our meal progressed I realized this place is a great spot for locals, people who want a lot of food for their buck. The staff doesn’t need to worry if people like it or not, they are already have a following of people and they aren’t worried about attracting more it seems. Which is fine for some, but I look for a wow factor or at least service that goes out of the way. Ordered a Tenderloin and since all meals come with a full course dinner, they bring out soup or salad, then your meal and then a dish of ice cream. The food was fine, nothing special. The large portions make you feel as if the money you are spending is worth it. We tried a Malbec wine with our steaks and it was good, but served in dirty glasses and our waitress appeared to have no idea how to pour glasses without spilling.(This just seemed so strange to me that she didn’t care?) My tenderloin was rare as requested, served with garlic bread and potatoes(your choice of baked, fries or jo-jos). Would love to see some vegetables added to round out a healthier meal. A-OK just about sums it up. I think this is a «Montana experience» that many will enjoy, it just wasn’t for me. I prefer a little bit more of a modern atmosphere with staff that are friendly and offer suggestions on food for new diners. Probably won’t be back, but that’s okay! I know that there are a lot of people who LOVE this place and I believe it to be a good establishment.

Once upon a time this place used to be a dive stop extraordinaire — a place with unbelievably good food in an all but ramshackle setting. Something happened to make it closer to mainstream. It lost something along the way. I stopped by for lunch. Maybe that was the problem. Perhaps the charm of this place is in the evenings where the low lighting can give the illusion of a diamond in the rough. In any event, it’s not quite the same divey place it used to be. It still has a hometown vibe, the décor isn’t fancy, there’s plenty of character and characters, but the food has decidedly become so-so. The lunch time service wasn’t all that. .. but the bartender was nice enough. She just disappeared a lot. And ignored us a lot. I was really looking forward to the steak, the one thing I remembered as being outstanding and for which I would willingly overlook the loss of the dive vibe. The steak was hot. That’s about it. It was otherwise just okay. It wasn’t any better than what we could get at a(gasp) chain-steak place. The salad was wilted and brown, the potato was mushy and reheated. On the other hand, the local beers are great. Moose Drool. .. a pretty good local beer was a bright spot… as long as you can see the humor in the name. We did. At least we found the humor in something about this place. Next time I’m in the area, maybe I’ll try coming again in the evening and see if I can find the awesome little place this used to be before it sold out to the man.
