This is a great place to go for Sunday Brunch with cool jazz and hot food, bagels and lox and all the fixings. A cocktail is included, too. The big win is that Tony Middleton, a rock and roll legend presides over the mic. Jesse Elder is on the keyboard and Kenji Yoshitake is on the bass. These guys really know what they ate doing. The room is airy and beautiful, the food is delicious, and the music will make you very happy. Occasionally, guest singers are called up to sing. This is a fave on any Sunday.

A tasty, if somewhat overpriced, meal. I had the ahi tuna sandwich. It came on thick egg bread, with a nice wasabi sauce smeared inside, lots of arugula, and steak frites. Delicious. Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice(with orange as another option) was very good. At the end of the meal, the waiter appeared with another small jug of it when he saw that my glass was empty. Thoughtful! The shrimp ceviche was pretty good, could have been a little more oniony. The restaurant was very quiet, with a few scattered lone diners(travelers, I assumed). Would be a great place to relax by yourself during breakfast or lunch. They don’t do brunch anymore, though, so get there before 11 or go for lunch. Classy, quiet, good.

I don’t know how many New Yorkers actually know about this luxury hotel called The Kitano in Midtown Manhattan. The Garden Café is located in the lobby of this hotel. They are the«casual» dining place of the high end, which I really like. I enjoy weekend brunch buffet and/or any buffet for special occasions. The reduced buffet price for the kids is an additional plus for us. I’m convinced that they are very selective when they chose the ingredients for their food preparation. Even just a fried egg tastes very fresh and delicious there. It’s not cheap, but I don’t feel overpriced either. I understand there are some fans who would like this place to be kept as a hidden jewel, but I started to see less and less customers in this place recently. I hope this review will lead some gourmet locals and tourist to give a try.
