One star maybe. Why? She cleaned my teeth but then ripped me apart for my flaws. Then tried to get money out of me without using my insurance. Then she did the same exact thing to my husband and has been voice mailing me for payment without an invoice for insurance coverage. While she cleaned our teeth well, she is a terrible and manipulative salesperson that for some reason doesn’t like to use insurance you provide her. Recommendation do what you do well which is clean teeth and stop manipulating others on other things without using insurance. I won’t use you again. Bad salesmanship and ethics. Although you clean teeth very well and very happy but your ego has the better of you. Send me an invoice after you have contacted my insurance and in the interim will be using another dentist that cares about me and my teeth and not my pocketbook.

Found through Aenta, scheduled an apt where they instantly took my credit card in case I didn’t cancel within 48 hours. Apt was Monday, called the previous Wednesday to cancel because of overlapping appointments. Left a message. Got a call Thurs confirming the apt to which I canceled then. The response was ridiculous.
«What? Why? Can you come in later on Monday?» No
«Well, it’s not within 48 hours so we’re going to have to charge you.»
Today is Thursday and my apt isn’t until Monday. That’s more than 48 hours.
«We’re not open on Friday. It’s 48 hours while we’re open.»
If this was the case, you would have to give a two week notice that you’re not going to make it or else they charge the full amount.
I hope Dr Mueller didn’t instruct this behavior. If so, they are after your money, not your continued business.

Dr. Mueller is wonderful. I have been going to her for longer than I want to admit and majority of the time it is just a routine cleaning and I am out quickly. Her appointments are kept on time and she is very competent. I highly recommend her.

I had to leave Dr. Mueller. She has a great personality when everything is going well. I was a patient of hers for more than 10 years, and very young when I started seeing her at 23 years old and I didn’t have any issues. I have terrific teeth. I noticed some oddities with her practice along the way — the hygienists are forever changing, like a revolving door. Also, she had this wonderful secretary, Bridget who was with her from the beginning. One day, she fired her out of the blue. And with Bridget’s departure, came a different dentist and a newly renovated office she needed to fund.
She was sending me postcards to get botox with my teeth cleaning, suggesting teeth whitening when my teeth are pretty white, etc. One day I laughed when the hygienist suggested I pay extra, not sure how much, for an oral cancer check with acetic acid. I looked at her, laughed and said «Thats just vinegar and I could do that at home.» She was so surprised I knew what acetic acid was, she asked me if I was a chemist. (I am not)
Ultimately the relationship with Dr. Mueller ended after I needed some work and she didn’t do a good job. When I asked her about the bleeding and poorly fitted crown, she became indignant and defensive, exactly the opposite of who I thought she was. And I realized I had been duped by her solicitous personality — she doesn’t care about her patients as much as she cared about getting her fees. The part that got me is that she actually did trick me into believing she cared for me, when she didn’t at all. I was mad at myself for ignoring all the signs.
Net– net — She overcharges and doesn’t stand by her work. Don’t be fooled by her — and don’t let her upsell you either. She will try, especially if you are a woman and she has been caring for you for a while. Like a vulture. I really wish she was the person I thought she was in the beginning of her practice — not the dentist she has become –a sad, soulless person who cares only about making a buck.

I loved Dr. Mueller when I first started going to her 10 years ago and I was a diligent patient coming approx every 6 months for a cleaning. I never had an issues with her care but I did always think it was weird that she never had the same hygienists (she must not pay them much or get dental school interns). But over the last few years every time I would go to her it would be a constant fight over if I needed xrays for just a general cleaning when I had nothing wrong. She had in the past upsold me on several things — teeth whitening (VERY Painful and I’m not sure it was effective — I just use crest white strips now) and refilling childhood cavities that were not giving me any issues (she said the $ 400 per tooth now would save me $ 1200 on root canal later on? Scared me enough to get 3 rebuilt.) I don’t have health insurance and would hand over my credit card for the $ 215 cleaning. Today she wouldn’t even examine me unless I got the xrays claiming she was putting herself at «risk for a standard of care violation». I thought that was really odd. Maybe she’s been sued before? What a way to bully someone into paying more. Anyhow I paid the $ 215 cleaning today but will never be back. My fiancé’s dentist just gained a patient!

Dr. Mueller caused me a great deal of problems that were were expensive to fix. I posted a review of that and when I went to Unilocal the review wasn’t there. Ironically, when I signed on the review was there — so it looks like my review is posted if I log on — but if I am a regular user — the review is hidden. I don’t get that but it makes me suspicious of Unilocal if they have hidden my review. People should be warned of this dentist. She’s irresponsible and has caused great problems that I don’t want to see others go through.

apart from the dental hygenists being extremely rough on my mouth, my husband and I have both wait 45 minutes plus at different times. The worst part was the cavity that was supposedly cleaned and filled and one month later needed an emergency root canal. It was awful

I just saw that Dr. Mueller is offering an online coupon and feel that people should know about her negligence. I was a contented patient of hers from 2000 – 2004. But the last year or two of this relationship turned into a nightmare.
She started pressuring me for things I did not need, slipping in fees for «services» before telling me what they were and even suggested cosmetic dentistry. (which made me feel weird, since I really have no reason for it. i have straight, healthy teeth, no issues.)
The final straw was when I went in for 2 fillings, and she ended up doing 5 while she was in my mouth, without consulting me. She stated that she noticed some «decay» and thought she would just go ahead and do them. No showing me where this was on x-​rays, nothing. furthermore, for the first time in my life, i had severe bleeding and pain following routine fillings.
I disputed the extra three fillings and she proceeded to hound me with bills for them. Meanwhile, I had such seething pain in the back of my mouth where one of the new fillings were, I sought a second opinion.
It turns out that she gave me not only unnecessary fillings, but left gaping holes in two of them, hence leaving the tooth and nerve exposed, so that when ever I ate, food was going directly into the hole.
This new dentist agreed to submit paperwork and testify to the insurance company when I filed a complaint with Delta Dental who opened an investigation which, in the end, found her 100% responsible for her negligence, and actually reimbursed me some $$ that I hadn’t even asked for. (The whole process took 14 mos and all the while, i received approx. one bill a week from her seeking money for the crappy work.)
Then, I had to fight to claim and pick up my dental records (literally they would pretend losing them, not respond to my requests, not answer the door, etc.) and spent $ 1000+ repairing all of her shoddy work with the new dentist.
I’m not sure what is going on with her, but there seems to be something seriously wrong with her ethos, judgment and craft.
It’s disturbing and I urge prospective patients to steer very clear, unless you want a complicated, painful mess on your hands. I’m surprised she still has a medical license.

After I had my tooth crisis (we won’t be going into those details), I was at odds in choosing a dentist I trusted in NYC. I needed to find one who was both knowledgeable and honest and did not know where to begin. I had had a regular dentist whom I saw regularly, but he was in California, my home state and I wasn’t about to hop on an airplane for that purpose alone.
As a dentist, Theresa Mueller is thorough and very competent. Her staff is actually exceptionally wonderful and treated me with respect and compassion. It was actually Dr. Mueller herself that I found lacking in the qualities of the perfect dentist. The reason? She seemed less inclined to recommend what was best for me, as her patient, over what was best for her $ pockets. As a health care provider, it is your job to provide options and discuss pro/​cons of any procedure. This dentist seemed to always push for the solution that cost the most money. I am so glad that I got second opinions from subsequent visits to 2 different dentists who both layed out options for me, but never steered me in any direction. It was then that I realized I made a huge mistake in seeing Dr. Mueller.
So my recommendation is this: If your teeth are perfect and you have fabulous dental insurance. Go ahead. She’ll probably find something wrong with your teeth that costs 200 dollars outside of your coverage.

Worst dental experience of my life.
The old receptionist is a weird mix of friendly and nasty. She’s very pushy and rude about fee collection.
Ms. Mueller is an OK dentist for basic procedures but she did the worst cap placement I could have not hoped for. «My» cap was yellow (like fifty shades too yellow to possibly match my teeth) and what’s more it clearly didn’t fit. I am SURE it was not my cap. If it was, she has no idea how to fit a dental cap. She insisted on grinding the cap down to make it fit and now I live with regular pain and bleeding in my gums. It’s horrible and looks ugly. What’s worse is I paid a ton for it. I paid more out of pocket (50% paid by insurance) than my wife paid for the entire process at another dentist in the city.

Dr. Mueller is the best. I’ve been visiting her for about 4 years and I had always been impressed by how she always seemed to remember me… but I was really impressed last year when I had some persistent jaw pain that couldn’t be explained by the x-​rays they took in her office. She referred me to an oral surgeon (who was also terrific) and then called me that evening at home after 8pm to see how I was doing and to ask me what the oral surgeon had said! I was both floored and touched.
I know she takes MetLife Dental insurance, because that’s what I have. Not sure what other plans are accepted.
