Throw Back Tavern

Fun atmosphere, friendly service and good bar food. Monday’s is pitcher of beer and 4 lbs of wings, Tuesday is tacos for .75 cent, Wednesday is meatloaf, Thursday is Chxn fried steak, and Fri is Chxn fried steak sliders.

Bartenders are friendly. It’s definitely a ‘everybody knows your name’ place. Full service bar & Food wise everything is affordable and good. I’ve had the wings on monday and the chicken fried streak sandwich on Sunday both good. $.75 tacos on Tuesday

Pleasant atmosphere, pleasant service, a little loud (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for a bar), friendly service. Food, however, is a serious meh. Small portions of grilled chicken in their chicken sandwich, the chicken salad is a pile of iceberg with a few hunks of chicken (frozen?), shredded cheese, and some croutons — all very bland. The nachos were a large amount of food, but again the beans, meat, and other toppings seemed majorly underseasoned. Prices weren’t particularly great, but combined with the uninspired food we probably won’t be going back.

Nice little sports bar on the west end of town. Good food and good service both times we have been there.
The most amazing steak fingers that I’ve ever had. Although they are not on the regular menu. Only available as the special on certain days. The jalapeño popper and the fried pickles were both good appetizers. My only complaint was with the hamburger. It was pretty dry.
Both times we have been there have not been a lot of people in there. I really like this restaurant so hope it can survive.

Very relaxed, low-​key atmosphere. GREAT chicken strips. Awesome daily specials. Very reasonably priced. Fantastic staff. Small menu but everything is good. Overall, really like this place and have recommended it to many friends!

If you were to ask me where you and your family, or you and a bunch of friends, could find an establishment that offers more than a bar with food, my immediate response is Throw Back Tavern!
At this bar/​restaurant, I saw kids playing skee ball (don’t pick a table next to that machine if you are having quiet conversation) I played a video machine with lots of different games, and there is even video bowling for groups to play each other!
Several TV’s but not loud… Watch out because this is KC Royals Fan HQ at times, also any KSU, and Chiefs game will be on screen this fall I bet!
Our crew even watched the Women’s Soccer Team’s World Cup Victory here and the whole place was electric!!!
The food is fine, my expectations are met each time I have had a meal. This place even has me playing KENO…
As a Chicago transplant to Manhattan KS, I have been looking for a neighborhood bar, a place where you can depend on for last minute parties or just to sit and watch the big screen TV’s. I am so glad this opened here in Westloop.
Staff/​and the owners are awesome! Heather, Jess, Lauren, Josh, Connie, Tami, and the rest of the crew may be new bar peeps but they are certainly raising the bar in fun and friendly for other places in town.

The good: Clean and plesant atmosphere. Decent TVs. They have a MegaTouch Game and fun little skeeball game. The bad: Very blah bar food. Beer served in a mason jar (I hate that — it always tastes warm to me). Pretty expensive for a small bar. Really limited menu.
I had chicken strips and it had that tasteless cornmeal breading like they would put on catfish. Not gross, but just not good. And I don’t know a single restaurant that doesn’t include a dipping sauce with chicken strips. I asked for bbq and ranch and was charged $ 1 for them (without being told in advance)! We had 2 kids with us. $ 5 per kids meal (2 chick. strips and an applesauce) and it didn’t include a drink. They charged $ 2 for a kids milk (again, not being told in advance that it wasn’t included), so that ended up being a $ 7 kids meal which is the most I have ever paid anywhere. Our tab was $ 50 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers and we have had very similar meals at other bars in Manhattan for $ 35. Might be a decent place to watch an afternoon football game or grab an afterwork drink, but we certaily won’t be returning to eat.

First visit! Very clean and love the big windows for natural light! Nice cold drinks and such a friendly atmosphere! NOT one of those bars that ur afraid to drop in in the afternoon with the kids for a snack. Nice new flat screen tvs!!! Def will be back!!! Great drinks!
