Tropical Rotisserie Chicken

I walked past a few times and noticed several gringos eating rotisserie chicken and platanos so I figured it wouldn’t be too hard to navigate the menu with my high school Spanish and point to any items i couldnt pronounce.
Worked for me but, not so much for the woman behind me who didn’t speak any Spanish at all. She had a melt down and cursed out the counter girl for getting her order wrong and for not speaking English. «This is America, we speak English here mother funker…» went the tirade. I did my best to avoid eye contact and focus on prying away the fatty chicken skin from the meat while savoring my sweet platanos. I can see that I need to learn how to say «to go» in Spanish to avoid Zenophobic gringos clashing with the Dominicans in my neighborhood.

For days I passed by the «Coming Soon» sign, enticed by the colorful signage. The corner of 207^th St. & Broadway seemed a no-​brainier. I walked in and got ready to order and the big guy behind the counter directed me to the register to order. I order half a chicken and veges. When I sat down, I was greeted by a white bag for take out. Naturally, I opened my take out bag and prepared to eat, pretending I was given a plate like the other guests. The chicken was a dry ball of tightness. It was a fight to cut the meat. I had to adjust my grip on the plastic knife to «get ready for warfare!» thankfully, the veges and soda provided moisture to push the food down my throat. Next time, I will pre-​lubricate! I was greatly disappointed, and found myself longing for the roasted chicken just a few doors down on 207^th Street. Maybe the place is just getting its bearings, so I will try again another day. Oh, and be prepared to speak Spanish or know enough to deal with the employees.

Awful! Rude unprofessional staff. First off-​they were out of food. Second-​they got the orders wrong. nthird-​they overcharged me severely. When I called to try and remedy the problem, mi was transferred to three different people. Finally I decided to go back and get my money back (returning the food I had just purchased). I give this joint three weeks.
Oh…when I asked for the manager I got a ‘there no manager here, no be can help you’. Really???
