Wafels and Dinges

The waffles are yummy. The fruit is yummy. The ice cream is… yummy… it’s all just yummy.
They do a classic Liege waffle with the pearl sugar. They are cooked enough to eat out of hand and delicious with cream and fruit or ice cream or nutella or… you get the idea. There’s also a nice selection of frou-​frou and regular sodas.

de Bom is good for a hot day! waffle with scoop of ice cream and chocolate syrup drizzle. so so so so good!
the liege waffle is also good on its own since it’s already sweet. you can add 1 free topping.
the service was good and quick!

You really can’t go wrong with a food truck that serves waffles. The menu has both sweet and savory waffles. I ended up getting «de Throwdown Wafel,» which is waffles covered in «spekuloos,» whipped cream and powdered sugar. Spekuloos is their special chocolate sauce. It tasted to me like a mixture of nutella and cookie butter. It was very good.
They also serve waffles geared towards those with less of a sweet tooth. They had a chicken & gravy wafel and a wafel covered in syrup and bacon. I will be sure to try one of those next time I stumble upon this truck.

What’s not to love? Waffles via a truck and you can pick whatever toppings you want on your waffle — strawberries, bananas, nutella, nuts, whipped cream, maple syrup, dulce de leche? Whatever you want.
I was planning on eating lunch soon when I ran into the Wafels and Dinges truck, so I didn’t want a whole waffle, but definitely wanted to try it to see what everyone was talking about. Then I saw they had mini-​waffles! Perfect!
I’ll go for the bigger one if I run into them next time.

Great quick bite after the carriage ride we had at Central Park. They make it super fresh and the waffles were yummy! You can either order the ones they have on the menu or you can customize it. Not too sweet. Portion size was fair. Prices are ok…2 waffles and a can of coke for $ 16.

Amazing on the go and quick waffles. Can smell the waffles from a mile away! All the dinges are yummy! A must try! Batter is very fresh!

My friend and I saw this cart while walking through Central Park and stopped by to try the waffles that everyone on Unilocal raves about.
DE THROWDOWN ($ 7) — Liege waffle with spekuloos spread and whipped cream. A pricey treat, but worth the indulgence now and then. The liege waffle is soft and chewy, but the highlight of the waffle was definitely the SPEKULOOS SPREAD, which was some sort of spiced, nutty spread that reminded me of gingersnaps and cookie butter. Gingersnap cookie butter, I guess? SO GOOD!

I remember when this truck was only in Williams burg, it would be in competition with the crêpe truck! If you have extra change (because it is expensive) I feel everyone should try it once. The waffles are awesome, all the combinations are not disappointing and there is always a line. Love love love!

De Bom was the bomb! In the words of my boyfriend, «If heaven was a food, it would be Waffles & Dinges.»

I’ve been excited to try these out for years now, and I’d say that it met all my expectations.
My boyfriend and I were on our way to take the N train home when we passed by this cart and I was really craving for a snack.
We ordered the «Le Bom» which is pretty much the Belgian waffles with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and I whole lot of chocolate drizzle. It was totally amazing. The waffle was crunchy, yet soft and fluffy inside. The icecream on top just made it all better.
The only reason I gave them 4stars is that it was 90degrees out. The waffle just made out of the maker, causing the heat to penetrate through the packaging. It was also a bit messy since the icecream melted pretty quickly. Maybe I’d enjoy this better during the fall. we’ll find out. Other than that, it was «LE BOM (b)».

Great waffles! Had most of the toppings was amazing, didn’t love the ice cream though even though it was homemade but props to them for having gourmet ice cream. Friendly staff

What can I say that hasn’t already been said?
It was my first NYC trip. I was there for 5 days and 3/​5, I stalked the Wafels and Dinges truck to get my fix. On one particular day, I ended up on a Central Park bench with the United Enemies piece (
) in front of me to contemplate. Pretty swell way to end a day of touristy shenanigans.

Holy mother of all things Belgian!
Writing this review is actually very difficult for me now as it is forcing me to relive some very, almost orgasmic waffle memories… but I’ll do my best.
First I’d like to point out that IHOP has now shaken in its boots and changed its name to International House of Poor-​tasting-​breakfast-​foods. I mean whoa! If only this was a fixed establishment that I can frequent on the regs. But actually, the fact they’re mobile means they can catch me by surprise on random days and put a Belgian smile on my face! :-)
Btw, a Belgian smile is when your mouth is full of waffles from this truck (sent by God) that you don’t even chew, you’re just trying to survive the overwhelming taste of it by not choking, and it kinda makes you giggle.
PS: is choking on a waffle from this joint really the worst way to go? C’mon.
PPS: the spekuloos is mirakuloos!

Best food truck serving dessert in the city!
Their waffles are amazing! What I usually get is a mini wafel with Nutella, whipped cream, and strawberries. It’s super cheap and sooooooooo decadent! I always go to the location on 60^th and 5^th. Eating on a bench in Central Park is the best!
Give this one a try!

I’ve seen their yellow carts and trucks on various occasions throughout the city. Each time luring me toward it. Yet, when I think about trying one of their wafels, I notice a long line of customers, and well I keep it moving choosing to satiate my sugar fix elsewhere. As luck would have it, my eyes zoomed in on a cart late in the evening right outside of the 72^nd Street/​Broadway train station – no line. I ordered my wafel with dulce de leche topping and even got my second dinges for free (I ordered strawberries to reduce my guilt-​o-​meter).
My wafel arrived within seconds of my order; it was warm, rich, satisfying. But I wasn’t floored. As I waited for my train, I got an idea: Ding, ding, dinges! Next time, I’ll hop on the line and request a made-​to-​order wafel. After all, freshness is everything. I have to say, although my wafel was good, it was late. And the wafel was probably sitting around for a bit, which probably accounted for my good, rather than phenomenal gustatory experience.
They were probably closing in an hour that evening, so I won’t hold it against them. For my first time trying Wafels and Dinges, the service was good and so was the wafel. I definitely plan to try them again.

Stationed by an entrance of Central Park… one cannot help but wonder WHY and HOW you were leading your life before this. You will regret leaving and not eating not one but TWO. just for you.
I lament in my New Jersey pad thinking of the moment I could have ordered just ONE more.
Anyways, 8 or 9 bucks for a slab of ice cream on a waffle made from heaven with a sauce made from heaven’s gates. and a sauce drizzled on top from. well, you get it.

Truly AMAZEBALLS. Like party-​in-​your-​mouth-​amazing. I am so glad we tried this after so much hesitation. And WHAAAT? They have speculoos spread?! HECK YES!
At $ 5 per waffle, you can’t go wrong. Plus, you get a free ‘dinges’, which I’m assuming are their toppings
Sweet and crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. How else could you possibly want this delicious bready goodness?
They have these carts in a few different locations, and this one is nicely situated in Central Park by the beautiful Bethesda Fountain (72^nd St, East side)! [or at least it was when I went. not sure if they change]

Look up their challenge for the day for a free Dinges (topping) and if you have never tried the spekuloos spread do yourself a favor and make it happen. You might just become a fan!
If you are an American and know what wafels are then do try the liege wafel. Even if you do not care for the light and crispy things you might find in a pancake house do not let that stop you from missing out on a completely different world.

Hubby had «de Bom» while I had a waffle cone with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I also got a Belgian Hot Chocolate… best hot chocolate I’ve ever had! They serve it with a mini cookie to dip in your cocoa. Great little unexpected treat to satisfy my sweet tooth on the walk through Central Park!

The wafels are pretty close to perfect to begin with. But this outpost of W&D is extra-​special because the guy running it is fun and funny.
And because I find the Guggenheim more enjoyable from the outside.
