I only gave them a 3 b/c the place is getting real trashy looking inside and out, but they do have good deep dish pizza and subs as well… just don’t look around at all the nasty around you if you’re going to eat inside… yuk!

I have enjoyed all the subs here for 30 years. Their pizza, especially the deep dish, is excellent. I haven’t had them but my brother also likes their taco special. All around a great place to eat.

Big Al’s Pizza was the worst pizza that I’ve tasted, not only in the state of Michigan but the entire United States. The pizza was soggy and floppy. The crust was so thin and soggy that we couldn’t even pick up the pizza. Every topping was out of a can(well, except the pepperoni!). The mushrooms looked and tasted like wet slugs. The pizza was so terrible that we had to smoke it over a campfire just to make it edible. You must be absolutely drunk in order to consume more than one bite. You are better off going to Meijer down the street and buying frozen pizza to throw in the oven. Our first clue should have been with how dirty the restaurant was. It was absolutely filthy and I have no clue how they could pass a health inspection. There was black mold all on the bottom of the wood paneling outside the bathrooms. The ladies bathroom had blood all inside the toilet and overflowing… I had to pee so bad and REFUSED to use their restroom. This place is a waste of money and should be avoided at all cost.

I can only believe that most people just order Big Al’s for delivery and have no idea what pizza tastes like. Because if anyone actually sat and ate the«pizza» on site and gave this place any stars i fear for the future of humanity. Dirty, Scary, and terrible pizza. wow

My husband and I ate here last week while camping in Manistee. Based on the reviews, we were expecting some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. This was not the case. The crust was soggy, the sauce not very flavorful, and the overall taste subpar. I can think of 4 places that deserve the«Top 10 best pizza in Michigan» over them. Really disappointed.

I give Al’s 5 stars because it was just as advertised. Pizza was piping hot, the sauce just a little spicy which is how I like it. There is seating inside with booths and round tables, soda that you can refill. We were there on a Friday night at 7 and the place was hopping. We sat on nice picnic tables on the shady deck. Nothing fancy. We had a big group(11) with multiple pizza orders. They brought the breadsticks out pretty quickly. My hubby and I had the Chicago Deep Dish — YUM. Friends had the traditional round and said it was tasty too. When we are in the area again I’d return! The staff was super busy but also super nice!

Good pizza at a good price. Don’t be fooled by their«Chicago style» deep dish pizza claim tho. Their deep dish pizza is not deep dish at all.

Their pizza is awesome and the prices are just right. We always try to hit a new pizza place when we are camping. Highly recommend.

The staff was very unorganized. For me, they didn’t even take my name. I ordered a simple sub and it took 1 ½ hours to get to me. Everybody who ordered after me got theirs well before I did. I am only giving them 2 stars because they have good food.

Big Als Special with Extra Mayo for 30 years. Usually spend the weekend in the area and my family goes through about 12 of them. Anyone we send that way finds a sub to make their own and swears it is the best. Would have been 5 stars but last trip left me a little disappointed with the quality of the sub. Hopefully just a fluke or new crew.

DELICIOUS! By far one of my favorite pies that I’ve come across. If you like your pizza greasy and your crust a little thin, than this is the place for you. Great ingredients live this place!

It’s the local hot spot. Always busy because they serve a killer pizza. The grinders are amazing too. I like the big Al’s special with sub sauce. It’s not fancy or even super clean but it is delicious!

Without a doubt the best subs I ever. Reasonable price. The map is wrong. Actually south of M55.

Pizza is very greasy. VERYVERY… The most grease I have ever seen on a pizza. I was not impressed at all.

Great place to visit! I’ve only has the pizza once or twice but when I did it was delicious. I’ve heard that the subs are amazing! My favorite at Big Al’s is the Stromboli. You get to choose your own ingredients like you would with a pizza(not all places allow that). It is served on a large pizza pan and is big enough to share! Sometimes when my cousin and I go we intentionally do not share so that there’s enough left that each of us can take some home. You must try it with the sub sauce. So. Delicious. The décor is a little dated but I like that. It has almost a retro feel to it. Last time I was there they still had some old video games. You order at the counter and your order is brought to the table. Very casual, laid-back place. Staff has always been very nice!

Big Al’s has become an annual stop on our annual camping trip. Why? Simply put good pie for us lazy campers. I tell you the large deep dish won’t disappoint. Sure, people rave about their Stromboli’s, yeah they are good, but the pie is where it’s at. To avoid waiting call ahead and place your order. this place gets busy, a true sign of a good eats.

Pretty good pizza! If you’re in the mood for some really greasy but tasty pizza, this is it. We had the hand tossed pizza with sausage, pepperoni and green peppers. I was very happy how the gentleman who took our order(it’s counter service) told us it would be cheaper to get three toppings rather than two, so we added on the peppers. All ingredients tasted fresh. Be warned though: the hand tossed crust(they also offer Chicago style) is very good when you get to the end, but is thin on the part with toppings and because it’s so greasy, I had to fold the pizza so it made sort of a calzone thing. Still very good! I know now why they give you forks and knives(but I refuse to eat pizza with a fork and knife so that’s how I coped). The décor is very simple. White fold up tables or plastic booths. I thought it was a nice throwback that they had some arcade games I remember from when I was a kid. All in all, a great place to stop for pizza in manistee!

We ate here while camping in Manistee. I guess pure Michigan named it a top 10 pizza restaurant. we purchased a 16inch for 14 dollars. The cheese on the pizza was really good. it has a unique taste too it.

Great view from where you eat of the ___lake(Sorry not sure what it is called). While I was there they only had 2⁄5 games working. One of which was not all that good of a game. Now on to the food. The food was very good. We got a Sausage, Mushroom, Pepperoni Chicago Style Pizza, and the regular Pizza of the same topping. It was all good till the car ride home when I got a stomach ache on the way home. It seems like it only happens to me when I have to much grease. I am proud to say that no one else had any problems. That was the only reason why I rated it four stars.
