Iron Springs Chateau Dinner Theatre

A group of us won tickets to the show so we bypassed the dinner portion and went dressed up in costume for fun having no idea what the show was about. We had a blast! You cannot take yourself too seriously or walk in expecting a broadway show. It’s fun and campy and the cheesiness is what gives it it’s charm.
There were decent options at the bar upstairs and we had such a good time we went back the following week for Rocky Horror Picture Show. Again, tons of fun!
The only thing was that we didn’t realize that the actors take tips, so we were glad that at least one of had cash on hand.

I highly recommend the vegetarian option for dinner — a homemade pasta Primavera with a delicious alfredo sauce. All the sides are good, don’t miss the tasty rolls or the mashed potatoes with skins.
The show is hysterical. Audience participation is a must and makes the show so much more enjoyable.

You have to try really hard to make food that bad. Didn’t stay for the «drama» fearing it would be as bad as the food. Yikes.

Be prepared to fill your tummy with good home style no frills fare and fill your soul with laughter at the Iron Springs! If you go away hungry it’s your own fault and if you can’t enjoy a good laugh, stay home!
We enjoyed pot roast that was flavorful and plentiful along with home style green beans, rice pilaf, mashed potatoes (made from REAL potatoes) and a tasty salad too! But wait, be sure to save room for dessert! Tonight it was peach cobbler, fresh hot from the oven topped with whipped cream!
Are you drooling yet? Nothing fancy but oh so tasty! And we haven’t even gone upstairs for the melodrama yet?
Melodrama finished and if you could not enjoy this cheesy, over the top, raucous evening of entertainment, then you take life waaaay too seriously! It’s let your hair down, honest to goodness FUN!

Food was mediocre. My scrambled eggs tasted like Egg Beaters eggs… pretty nasty. Waited 45 minutes for my meal. Definitely not going to make a return visit.

Good place to step back in time; dont take yourself too seriously; cozy bar upstairs (you don’t need to see the show to go to the bar!), atmosphere out of childhood vacations, employees very friendly and helpful; show was over the top as it should be but had a good dose or clever and timely (local!) political humor that I found particularly amusing; fun with a big group!

We went there for a birthday/​anniversary/​family night out. The Dinner Theater is under new management and they have done a GREAT JOB! The food (we had the baked chicken) was very good and so was the rice pilaf and mashed taters. The dining room has a very rustic feel to it with stuffed animals on the walls and shelves. The entertainment that evening was great. The actors/​actresses seemed to genuinely care about their performances. The comedy was very appropriate for our 2 sons (10 and 6) and a few jokes for the adults as well. This is where I really think the 5 stars comes into play.
As a side note I forgot a bag there on a Saturday night and called/​emailed the dinner theater when i realized i forgot it. The owners called me back on Sunday morning and met me to return it. The owners did. They took time out of their only day off to make sure i got my bag back. Thank you very much.

What was that? And why?

Went here for girls night out, we had a blast. True, the food is really really bad. Greasy fried chicken, green beans straight from the can, pretty bad overall, but the show was really nice. It’s meant to be cheesy and somewhat over the top… even a bit tacky I think. It’s not traditional theater, it has a lot more humor. We found the performers very affable and friendly. They graciously posed for photo ops for us and were nice. It’s a pity that there is only one show per season. I would definitely like to go on a more regular basis! Ps: love the old building too. The dark wood and musty smell was heaven for my senses ;-)

We were here in July 2010. Very cool show, and well worth seeing. After the melodrama ended, there was an «intermission». I am not sure what happens after the intermission. Maybe nothing. But the entertainment during the intermission was so slow that we left during the intermission. We enjoyed the show, and I would recommend it.

I give this place 4 stars because it’s a special place to me. Growing up and going to Colorado just wasn’t complete without going here. I will say just go for the show and not for the food. My husband having not been here as a child thought it was «cheesy» and I can agree to some extent but, that’s also sort of the point. I think it’s great for a family vacation with kids for all ages.
