Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is not the place one would expect a free zoo, but it has one! A donation of $ 1.00 for children and $ 2.00 for adults is encouraged, however. The Lincoln Park Zoo was established in 1935 and is a small, family-friendly place to bring kids for a morning or afternoon. The park features mostly local animals like bison, timber wolves, deer, and farm animals like cows, pigs, chickens, and bunnies in the Big Red Barn. It also features picnic benches and a small playground for kids. It’s not a place I would go out of my way to go to again, but it was a wonderful spot for my young nephew for the afternoon.
