Fairfield Inn Mankato

Get a room in the top floor if you don’t want to be kept up or waken up by stomping feet. I don’t know what they were doing, but heard loud walking until midnight and then waken by them in the am.
Front desk folks were friendly and breakfast was pretty good. Pool, but no hot tub, which was a bummer.

We were attending a conference in St. Peter Minnesota and had made our reservations 4 months in advance. When we arrived at 8:00 at night to check in we were told that they had «overbooked» the hotel and given our room to someone who had decided to stay an extra night in the «our room».
They said they had booked us a room in another motel 5 minutes away. NOT TRUE… The motel was 4 miles away —in the heart of the city of Mankato — not right off the highway as is the Fairfield. Because of road closures and detours it took us 20 minutes to get there. The Fairfield could have notified us in advance by email of the overbooking situation. They did not – they simply chose not to honor our reservation which was guaranteed by a credit card. We will never stay in another Marriott hotel again!
UPDATE! I spoke to the manager about this incident and he was very responsive and offered us a free night’s stay at the Fairfield Inn in compensation. I was impressed with the manager’s response and will give the Marriott chain another try.

Nice rooms, free WiFi, and pool.
