Toby is a great artist I have had two tattoo done by him and my husband has one. We will keep going to him for great tattoo work and the right price for them.

Checked the place out in advance, and Toby answered all my questions patiently. This was my first ink, so I was nervous about the place being clean. Toby explained each part of his precautions to prevent contamination. He also gave meticulous instructions to care for my tattoo. By the time I came back to have him work on me, I trusted him completely. The design was exactly what I asked for, the lines are perfect, and Toby was great about making me comfortable with the process. The price was very reasonable, too. My hero.

I always thought about getting a tattoo but knew I probably never would because I knew the moment I got it, I would not like it or want to change it until recently when my BFF from college told me she had breast cancer and then a few weeks later my brother calls to tell me his wife just found out that she too has breast cancer. I knew then what I had to and I researched for a couple of weeks to find a place that I felt comfortable with and confident. Gridlock Tattoo is that place! Toby was awesome! Very meticulous and just down right great!!! Thank you Toby for making my first tattoo experience worth it!

If you live in Austin, you know there is a tattoo shop on every block. If you’ve ever been in any of them, you may be met with a condescending or judge mental attitude.
I enjoy the full tattoo experience. This includes my artist appreciating and creating my vision, as well as receiving a tattoo I will cherish forever. And, pleasant conversation helps ease the pain…
Nixxin at Gridlock is very open minded. He has a wealth of knowledge about all sorts of tattoo-​able subjects. He takes pride in his craft. And, is a badass artist.
The drive to Manor is worth it. (Not even that far) Nixxin provides a great experience, an awesome tattoo and laughs. And, the shop has a classic tattoo shop vibe. You should check it.

I was in town this past weekend and got tattooed by Nixxin.
He finished a large leopard crawling up my side. For a long time, I was a burlesque dancer, and it was important to me that my tattoos were complimentary to the curves of my body, since the world got to see everything on me, documented in film and photos to be seen forever.
Nixxin has a knack for doing just that– finding the right flow and placement for the individual curves of ones body. I appreciate this skill, in addition to the dedication and commitment that he has given to his profession. I have lots of tattoos from him because he has always gone above what I imagined with an idea, and I knew I could trust that he would rock the next idea.
You could say that I grew up around tattooers, and I know what separates those who are committed to the craft as opposed to the kids and the «artists» who think that they’re gonna learn how to make a quick buck. No way jose– not with me.
The shop is very clean, professional, and ornamental in that old school way, with cool art and oddities collected from around the world. Heart and soul you can say. I hope the folks in Manor know that they have a little gem right there on Hwy 290.
I hope I don’t sound rude, but I did not expect that for being out in the country, or on the far edge of town. It was a pretty drive and there was some bbq on the way, so make your way out there if you live in the city– you won’t regret it.
If you live in Manor– you are lucky that you have them nearby.

I live in Mississippi and I travel to get tattooed by Nixxin. He’s an amazing artist and a great guy to be around. His work is on point for anything he does, he researches and thinks out each tattoo before ever starting. From the smallest tattoo on me to the entire leg pieces he’s doing it’s all beautiful work. I’d suggest him to anyone and everyone who lives around this shop and in the Austin area.

Toby is an absolute genius. I had been looking for someone who could do a real life portrait of my dog (son) Axel for a year and a half now. I have seen some portraits that look, well flat to be nice. And I have seen others that look like a child drew them. I know it is hard to do but I appreciate honesty and no BS when it comes to my ink.
Not only did Toby do a life like rendition of Axel, but he has a light hand and you feel comfortable at his place. Very clean place!

After visiting the other tattoo shop in Manor and deciding that they would never touch my skin, I went to check out Gridlock. As soon as I walked in and started talking to Toby, I was immediately comfortable and absolutely admired the work in his portfolio. Once I found out he had worked with three of my former artists and was reputable (and licensed), I recommended his shop to friends. Within 2 weeks, two of my friends and I got new ink from Gridlock (Toby). His work is amazing and he is definitely professional. All the of us are very impressed with our new ink and will absolutely be back for more!!! Thank you, Toby! :)

Gridlock tattoo is the only place I’ll go to get work done! Toby (formerly at Atomic) is an absolutely amazing artist and I’ve gotten several done by him! I recommend him to everyone I know and anyone else that asks about my tattoos. Totally worth the drive from west Austin!

I just moved to the Austin area and have been looking for a new tattoo artist. I met Toby right before he opened his shop and thought his work was great. He just tattooed me today and it turned out amazing and even better than I had pictured it. I recommend him because he is a great artist, honest, and friendly.
