Tried this place the other day and was really impressed with it! Had the chicken wings and they were great! Will definitely be back to try more of this southern food!

The chicken wings had the best flavor and the perfect amount of crisp. That cabbage though… it was so freaking good I almost burnt my tongue because it was hot! The food was superb and the service was great-even though I live in Pflugerville, I will be back!

The food was at the right temperature and perfect seasoning and oh man, I can forget about the young man who took care of us it was our first time there I believe his name was Dylan I believe he is also the owners son but his perfesionalism and his demeanor about him is outstanding he is very well mannered and was great at assisting us with any question we may have had! don’t tell anyone but this place is a little gem! simple, easy, down home, friendly, old school, diner from down south food. ridiculously delicious and tender chicken fried chicken, all the sides were yummy. It’s weird to have everything on plastic and paper but hey, if it works… did I mention the crazy tender crunchy crispy chicken? My son had the jambalaya and loved it. It’s spicy but not too spicy. The sides were all delicious, the collards were a little firmer than I like but the fried cabbage made up for it, man that was good. it’s about $ 10/plate and you get a load of food. FINALLY a place up here by us that’s NOT mexican food and everyone in there speaks english and are friendly as heck. I can’t wait to go back… oh wait, we already have plans to go back!

I’ve had so many friends and relatives rave about this place, so today, I took the opportunity to try it out. I’m so glad I did! I had a very hard time trying to decide what to eat. I finally settled on the fried pork chops, greens, candied yams and I also ordered a side of mac n cheese, oh and of course sweet tea. All I can say is wow! Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Did I mention this meal came with cornbread?! Yummy! I can’t wait to go back and try other menu selections. I walked out with leftovers for dinner. I highly recommend this place if you haven’t been. Great food, great staff and nice location.

3.5 stars Tried this place last night with bf and his nephew. I had the catfish nuggets with a side of mac n cheese and candied yams. The guys both had chicken fried steak with sides of cajun mashed potatoes and yams. We also had the apple crisp. The best part of the order was the fried catfish nuggets… by far. Not too heavily breaded, but the fish was still very tender and the tartar sauce was great! I also thought the cajun mashed potatoes were good and well seasoned. Beyond that, the mac n cheese was okay and I was partial to the the shells they used but I had to add more salt at home. The guys werent big fans of the chicken fried steak, both said the steaks didnt taste seasoned and white gravy would have been better than brown. The apple crisp was just bad. All goey apple filling, no crisp to balance it out. Overall, there were a few hits and misses. The staff was very friendly and it’s a cute restaurant. I’ll definitely be back for the nuggets, and a few of the sides, but I’ll have to search for other gems on the menu.

Dining room was very intimate and felt like I was eating in my family’s home! The icing on the cake was the food… it was AMAZING! I grew up with Soul food being a staple of not just my childhood and something my Grandmother and Mother passed onto me and I in turn passed on to my Daughters who also cook now. If you’re looking for authentic Southern Cuisine look no further! Get down to Manor, Tx(just a few mins from Austin) and get it! Can’t wait to get back on a Sunday to try the Oxtails and Rice

I saw their Facebook page and saw that they were having crawfish étouffée on Friday, so I decided to check it out. The étouffée was very delicious with just the right amount of heat. I’m from from Georgia, so my expectations for southern food are pretty high. There were highs and lows to my meal. Highs: Great sweet tea, corn bread had the right amount of sweetness, and the fried cabbage(cabbage cooked regularly with bacon, then sauteed in a pan to almost caramelization) was to die for, and of course the étouffée. Lows: To me the collard greens were lacking of flavor. It was cooked with bacon, but was still lacking in flavor. Depending on the size of the batch I make, I’ll usually add 2 or 3 ham hocks while cooking the greens and a little heat. I understand that a lot of resturants intentionally leave their food a little bland, that way the customer can add seasoning(salt, pepper, hot sauce) to their liking, but I like to take a bite of something and not have to start playing a guessing game with my palate to figure out what the food is missing. The other low was the mac & cheese. It was very generic. Generic to the point where I wondered if all they did was follow the directions on the Walmart«Great Value» box of Mac & cheese. The highs still beat the lows though. Unless you want to drive in to Austin or Round Rock, this is definitely a place worth trying out. Oh, they also have cajun corn, but I didn’t get a chance to try it out. And also a variety of desserts. From which I took home some warm peach cobbler(very yummy). With the sweet tea, étouffée and two sides, an additional side, and the cobbler, my bill was just under $ 20

Acting upon a tip from a fellow co-worker, we decided to check this place out. Southern comfort food doesn’t get any better than this. A quaint establishment, we were pleasantly surprized at the minimalisting, yet tasteful décor. A lovely waitress wasted no time in greeting and seating us. They have daily specials that they offer, along with a few mainstay everyday entrees. We ended up with their chicken fried chicken and fried fish bites that came with 2 sides each. The fried fish bites were crispy and light on the outside and buttery on the inside, without being too greasy. The candied yams were delish and the mac ‘n’ cheese was awesome. Delicious comfort food at it’s best, I am glad we found an amazing comfort food restaurant in the area where the food was as great as the customer service was.

I have heard of off days and bad night’s in a restaurant. I do believe that I have lived long enough to distinguish between that and horrid service. My Wife and I have a running joke about this place. When either of us want to get the other riled up we mention this place. It works every time and we laugh hard after. My Wife and I both kept hearing a reoccurring radio advertisement about this place. You know sooner or later those damn subliminal messages are gonna get you. I mean it’s what they tell us to do… huh who’s they? Seriously on 2.13.15 we decided and made the trek to Manor. We noticed when we arrived there weren’t a ton of cars in the parking lot. However when we entered into the building we noticed a crowd of about fifteen people, kids and adults. They were celebrating someone’s birthday party. We both thought how nice the owners were to allow them to celebrate in their establishment. The people seemed happy and enjoying themselves. We got our table against the right wall. As my Wife poured over the menu I went to wash up. The restroom was spacious and clean. When I got back she was speaking with an Manor police officer that was sitting there when we entered. We noticed he’d been picking over his cornbread, red beans and rice. Odd we thought but little did we know. The cop told my Wife his food was«okay». We spoke with our waitress an older lady with a distinct Louisiana accent. She seemed nice and accommodating but I swear something was off. She explained the menu and the difference between catfish and the other catfish with a little heat. I chose the regular while my Wife ordered the«different» catfish. As we waited the birthday party was beginning to break down. At this point they began separating tables. We noticed most of the cake was still left. What really turned our attention was how they came around trying to give it away. Uhhhh no thanks we said. I mean they had several in their party with kids and they didn’t want it. Alright our food comes out and my we’re ready if not reluctant to try. You know how cornmeal looks good and golden right as it hits grease… that’s as good as it got. My Wife didn’t get the fish she wanted and the waitress just stood there saying charge it to my head and not my heart. No I mean seriously she kept standing there as if my Wife and I had mob ties. I almost expected her to «kiss the ring» and pray mercy. Numerous times my Wife said it was fine but the lady just«stood there». She finally said after a 3 minute silence“don’t be mad okay”. We were more concerned than angry or mad. I mean who just stands there staring at you mouth agape over a mistake where no one was hurt? My mac and cheese was worse than the neon orange kind in the blue box. I tasted noodles and nothing else. My green beans appeared to have shared a spot on the stove of an old Julia Childs or Jacques Pepin episode. I mean they were old and we both believe reheated. The cornbread. …oh the cornbread folks hmmmm. Let’s just say if mass unrest ensued that night we would have had solid objects to hurl at the tanks and police. Oh and the sweet tea Lmao, nothing else to say. My Wife had already ordered a piece of cake and that appeared to be from a box mix. We left everything on the table folks. The napkins, entrée, deserts and drinks. We dropped $ 36 in the donation bin. We ended up at dairy queen and had to satisfy our appetite for food with that. Needless to say we won’t be going back. Alright so there it is folks

What a little gem in Manor! Geoff is amazing in the kitchen, and Sharon provides some down home hospitality that fits in perfectly in this little Texas community. You could search all over the Austin area and not find delicious, cajun, comfort food like this! They have excellent daily specials, and when I went in I had the catfish nuggets. This fish was tender, perfectly seasoned and fried to a golden brown. My husband had a po’boy and was very impressed. The side items switch out periodically, but I had the sweet potatoes and they were amazing! I also had the mac and cheese which I found a little plain, so I’ll probably skip next time for some beans and rice or collards. Friendly is an understatement. The owners are happy to have you, and I felt like I was eating in the dining room of their home. The restaurant is very clean, and kept very tidy. Sharon wouldn’t even let me get up for extra napkins. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. Definitely not friendly on the waistline, so will have to enjoy this amazing place in moderation, but both my husband and I can’t wait to go back!

The best soul food I’ve have since I lived in Georgia! Actually it’s the best food I’ve had in a long time period. I went with the fried catfish, collard greens and yams — all delicious! Catfish was hot and fresh with excellent breading — literally tastes like home! Collard greens have a unique taste with bacon and possibly a hint of sweetness, topped off with some pepper sauce and I though I was back home in GA. Yams were also good. This is the kind of place where you wish you could order 1 of everything. Guess I’ll just have to come back. long story short, I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. The owner was working when I was there and was the nicest guy. I will probably be back tomorrow for the smothered wings.seriously.

So glad I could take this OFF my «bookmarked» list today! It’s difficult going to home cookin’ restaurant’s when you spent your high school lunches @ Dots,(RIP), but this is definitely a good fix. FRRRRRIENDLY, is an understatement! Let’s just start with that. Their menu options are limited. You don’t get the full range of home cookin staples, but what is offered is pretty damn tasty! I ordered the fried fish + 2 sides. It came with 2 plentiful sized catfish filets, breaded in a cornmeal batter. There wasn’t much seasoning unfortunately, my friend agreed, but the fish was fried perfectly, and the breading nice and thick. For sides I got sweet potatoes & fried cabbage.(Oh how I love both of those!) The sweet potatoes, I’m leaning towards possibly coming from a can. They weren’t my favorite, but they weren’t bad either. That’s one of those preference foods, imo. And i definitely have a preference on them. Fried cabbage had great flavor, and pieces of bacon and ham-perfect! I wish I had gotten more. My basket was served w a piece of cornbread too. I’m funny w cornbread. It wasn’t a «not sweet» cornbread but it wasn’t «sweet» either. Perfectly moist w a hint of sweetness. My friend also had the fish & raved about it. The red beans and rice looked like they were possibly from a can, although it was said that they very good. I’m used to Louisiana style creamed red beans & rice, so I may be very wrong in this assumption. I’ll happily correct this if so. The greens looked pretty good tho, and NOT from a can. Lol I had hoped for smothered pork chops & mac n cheese to be on the menu, but it wasnt. They DO have fried pork chops tho! $ 25 for 2 for lunch, and it was consistently busy. Worth a trip for sure! Will I go back? Absolutely!
