I enjoyed the overall experience of Rocky’s, however, I thought it was overpriced. The waitress seemed too busy for us and our visit felt rushed. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller(which I don’t recommend), and for mains we ordered the strip and chicken marsala. The strip was a decent sized cut, but it was overcooked. If we hadn’t been with two other couples, I would have sent it back. The jack daniels sauce was flavorless and the almondine green beans were boring. My husband’s chicken had great flavor and the meat was tender. His English style«chips» were cold, dry, and unseasoned. The house salads, accompaniments, and table bread were all fantastic. On a more positive note, the dim lighting and oddball decorating make a great atmosphere for revelry. If I’m ever nearby and hungry(and the Indian place is closed), I might give Rocky’s another try.

It was a girls weekend. First place we visited, first we were told… dont let the outside scare you. Glad we didnt, absolutely loved the inside. Food is pricy but so worth it.

Seriously, walking up to this place I’m thinking — well, at least I’ll get a drink if it doesn’t look all that good(hey, it’s next to a Coney Hot Dog joint). As I walk trough the door — hey, wow! this is a nice little joint — rather classy! Romantically dark and clean. I cozy up to the bar and check out the menu — some nice looking items. The bartender tells me that everything is made in-house. i like that! The owner, Richard, introduces himself and mentioned they have a Wagyu strip. I figured — hey why not — since I am a steak aficionado. I order it ‘black-n-bleu’ along with a Spinach Salad and bacon dressing and twice baked potato. Wow, the salad was crisp and fresh, the potato was tasty… and the steak(which I think was a sirloin sizzler cut, not a strip — but I’m NOT complaining) was FANTASTIC. Just the right amount of blackening albeit a bit much on the blue cheese crumples. Still, this is a meal I would order again and again. After dinner I had a port(my dessert) and we began talking about the place… Richard even offered me a small cognac as appreciation for stopping in and good conversation. Next time I’m in the area — I’ll be dining here again! Thanks Rocky’s Pub :)

Great atmosphere and decent food. Place was busy when we were there on a weekend, the waitresses seemed to be overwhelmed so our service suffered because of it. Only thing I would say negative was the food and experience didn’t justify the cost. Place seemed overpriced for what it is.

Entering Rocky’s you are pleasantly surprised based on the outside. So don’t be fooled. This is a first class place. Elegant, welcoming, this family owned 45 year old Resturant offers a fresh, made from scratch menu. Everything we ordered was excellent and the service was personable and attentive without being intrusive. So happy we took the chance to stop in.

Mansfield continues to amaze me. My latest find is Rocky’s. Went there with friends the other night and it was great. Calamari appetizer was cooked just right. Raspberry blue cheese dressing on the salad was very good too. The bread basket contained both Italian and wheat breads… we took the leftovers home they were that good. Strip steak was cooked just right. I’m sensing Rocky’s has a very good fish supplier. The Halibut with cabbage potato cake was fresh and flaky. The Walleye was lightly floured and pan seared. Good selection of reasonably priced wines. This place is a winner.

Nice atmosphere, but food is lacking. After reordering multiple times as specials were 86’d and waitress didn’t know, got a bland steak; main flavor was char, no seasoning, tough and untrimmed. Ordered ‘roasted cauliflower’, but was brought steamed, again, flavorless vegetable. Bread was great, however olive oil was somehow flavorless and tasted ‘watered down’, as if that was even possible. Step it up kitchen, you can do better.

My wife and I make an annual pilgrimage to Mansfield every year to see friends when we are visiting her parents. We peaked into Rockys last year after a lackluster meal somewhere else. We went with the kids this year. You walk in… and you are instantly in the dark, warm, friendly world of Rockys. The owner and the waitress are beyond nice and the food… all homemade. is great. Great salad dressings… great steaks… great drinks… and I can’t say any other food is great because I need to go there again to check out the rest of the menu. But I have to say, I loved my experience at Rockys and cannot recommend it highly enough. Even if you have a crazy 1.5 year old, you will be treated like gold. That is saying something at such a suave establishment.

Have been going to Rocky’s since I was a kid, first memories circa 1968?! So this is big nostalgia for me… They still have pub sandwiches and their famous black bean soup with the sides — but Rocky’s son Rick Nesta and his chef wife Sally Bishop Nesta have elevated Rocky’s to a gourmand experience, which is tough to find in Mansfield. Everything we’ve tried from the house salad to pasta entreés to rack of lamb(we asked for medium rare and they were spot on with a subtle, not over powering or over seasoned carmalized, perfectly reduced glaze) and were consistently impressed! Please give this enchanting, dark yet sparkly bistro a try.

We were in Mansfield for the weekend and staying at the Hampton Inn on I-71. We decided to eat at Rocky’s based on the reviews by my fellow Unilocalers. Don’t judge the restaurant by the outside. .. it’s white tablecloth and napkins on the inside. It was late at night so we just sampled the soup and sandwiches. The blue cheese walnut soup(not nearly as overpowering as it sounds) and basil Lima bean soups were excellent. My Kobe beef burger was not great but a very decent(if overpriced) selection. My family loved the portobello mushroom sandwich and my son his spaghetti. Service was fantastic. I would definitely come back if in the area.

3÷21÷2012WOW! Best tasting food I have had in years. There is a lot of love in this place. Home made desserts, risotto, Kobe beef, yes Kobe! It’s not cheap but exquisite food it’s worth every penny. If you miss this gem you’ve missed one of the sweetest parts of life. May or June 2013 Ordered the Fish and Chips due to my $ 25/day per diem and regret it. They were frozen not fresh. Don’t go here on the cheap. You get what you pay for.

Came here with some coworkers after work and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the bartender and the server. –Place is pretty small and dim, more towards classy ambiance –Ordered the Escargot for Appetizer: Came on top of fried mushrooms. Was very juicy and flavor was perfect together –Local beer on draught only — Cheap $ 4.25 for a pint. –Wine avg $ 7 a glass –Main dish: Flounder special — was great but wouldn’t get again. It was a bit too creamy for me and to be honest, I don’t remember what was on it as it was THAT dark in the place to tell what you were eating. The dim lighting is definitely great for drinking… not so much for knowing what you are eating. Overall, was pretty satisfied with the service and food selection. About $ 19 average an entrée. Come if you want a dim, clean, small setting with average beer selection and quality food.

There was a team from my company in town meeting with a customer and we were looking for a place to grab dinner. One of our team members asked the lady at the front desk of the hotel and she said for us to try Rockys because the food was pretty good. Wow is all I can say because we were all very impressed with the quality of their food and it tasted great. All four of us stated that they should be on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network because they are that good! If I am ever back in Mansfield again I will be going back for lunch and dinner.

Once your eyes get accustomed to the vampire light settings you will enjoy your meal here. The oil and seasonings at the table could use a little garlic or something to give it more flavor it is rather bland but the breads served are moist and fresh and very delicious. The house salad with blue cheese and raspberry vinaigrette is good but missing something and I believe that might be shallots in the dressing which would add some depth of flavor it lacked. The mushroom pasta was amazing complex with just enough cream to make it taste rich but not too much to overwhelm. It had four or five kinds of mushrooms and was very satisfying. A NY strip was good but not great — a bit overcooked and not that tender for the price. The fried artichoke heart appetizer was fine but nothing special but the Thai spiced mussels were great — they need to serve more dishes like that.

I have relied on the faithful Unilocal users to help guide me to the best places for years… but never felt the need to join myself. Until I went to Rocky’s Pub. This is the best restaurant in the world for many resons: –Service: We were coming in from out of town, and called ahead to ensure they would be open. They were planning on closing early because they were not busy, but owner Rick said — ‘come on in, we’ll feed you.’ What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Rick, his wife Sally(the executive chef,) and server Megan basically hung out with us for two hours while we had the meal of our lives. –The food: The food here would stand up anywhere in creativity, presentation, freshness, quality and flavor. And I mean ANYWHERE. Everything is done in house, from the infusing of the beets for the beet salad, to honey-roasting the hazelnuts for the same. The steaks are dry-aged in house, and everything is fresh, organic, farm raised, etc. — Menu: We started with the aforementioned beet salad and arugula salad, and both were phenomenal. Well balanced flavors, savory, unique. For appetizers we got the Mussels in Pesto and Oysters Rockefeller. Again, both were out of this world. For a main course, we got the Bass(which was a special,) and the NY strip. The fish was out of this world, and the aging of the beef was the best I’ve tasted. Most places say they have aged beef, but it doesn’t taste that way… The flavor imparted on this steak was unmistakable. — Location: While Mansfield is a sleepy little town, this place is situated on a nice square downtown. Don’t expect much from the exterior, it doesn’t even look like you’d want to go inside. But once you do, it’s warm and inviting — if not a bit kitchy — but that’s part of the charm for me. Bottom line, if you like food and are anywhere near Mansfield Ohio… make SURE you stop by Rocky’s, you will not be disappointed. See you there, I can’t wait to go back!
