When this century dawned, I worked at Wendy’s Corporate HQ in Dublin… I had the honor of meeting Dave Thomas… he would have been disappointed tonight. I don’t want to say this restaurant is badly managed — I don’t think it’s managed at all. When each sandwich is made to order, why is a «special» order such an ordeal. My ten year old wanted his«usual», a Son of Baconator with meat, ketchup and bacon… on a pretzel bun. No cheese, no mayo. No problem, right? First up, sandwich had cheese. And you can’t just remove the cheese like a tomato and move on… it’s melted into the meat. He doesn’t like cheese. And when it’s a friggin $ 7 combo… it’s back to the counter. Cashier wasn’t especially cordial about it. Next we got… a standard Son of Baconator on a pretzel bun. Which means the second try was worse than the first since it also had mayo. That went into the trash too, and we finally got the correct sandwich. The grill cook was berating the cashier to mark the ticket as «PLAIN». What? I’m including a photo of the receipt… it does say PLAIN but maybe doesn’t include cheese? Does it need to say«NOFRIGGINCHEESE»? How can there be a communication breakdown between the cashier and grill cook that stood five feet apart? Whatever. Service at this store was a dumpster fire… seemed to be a lot of workers milling around, but the backline was still in chaos.

I realize this is a Wendy’s, but I wanted to give a shout out to the insanely awesome service we received. The young girl at the counter was likely the nicest person I’ve ever encountered at a fast food establishment. They don’t have self serve soda machines here, but she was always super nice about providing refills, remembering what we had, and knowing who did and didn’t want ice in their beverage. The location is clean and well maintained. It tends to be the hangout for the elderly, but no complaints. This is a quality Wendy’s location if you want to stop at one in Mansfield.
