7-Eleven

There are a couple 7-​Eleven stores along Yosemite Avenue and maybe two others on north-​south roads. I stopped here to get either coffee or Mountain Dew.
There were two women talking as I entered. I went to the soda fountain to see what they had at this location. They had regular Mountain Dew, plus a special flavor. I went over to the bottled soda cabinet and thought that the prices were a bit high. After I poured my soda, I noticed that they had an iced coffee machine at this location, though not a frappé machine like I used to use.
The woman who had been talking earlier was sitting on the floor behind the counter sorting cigarette packages. She didn’t hear me right away – and being by yourself, shouldn’t you be aware of *everything*?
She got up and rang up my drink, but she didn’t seem too happy about something. I know that working a holiday isn’t the greatest but still. It’s a job.
