Chubbys is a must in Manteca! This family owned diner has the best food, employees, and prices in town! Its the only breakfast place I go to. Their burgers and sandwiches for dinner are also awesome, so are their shakes!

Absolutely love it… Old time 50s Diner décor and music. Servers fast and friendly, huge selection of food, prices decent. My sandwich(ham, turkey, bacon, cheese on grilled sour dough with huge portion of fries) was only $ 8.97. I’m stuffed !!!

We went tubing over the holidays in Lathrop. Found Chubby’s via Unilocal and went there post-tubing. It’s places like this that make Unilocal so worthwhile, as I never would have driven to this place or been aware of it pre-Yelp. The place is not near the highway and looks nondescript from the outside(looks like it was a fast food restaurant at some point). But the restaurant has been redone inside and is very nice. Looks like a 50s roadside diner inside. All five of us(adults and three kids) really enjoyed our meals and had great service at the counter. The kids in particular loved the shakes. Chubby’s should not be confused with high end dining, but for what it is trying to be(a diner), it is definitely worth seeking out if you are in the area.

Today was my first time here. The place overall looked amazing. Has like a 50’s Rock n Roll theme. Place is not to big but I’m sure they are able to handle a legs crowd. The servers were nice but my order was to go. Now when I had ordered, I was charged for substitution which I found unfair since I do not eat meat and only wanted to sub it for potatoes but it is a business after all. All in all I think it would be an awesome place to check out if your new to the area.

Wow. I haven’t been this impressed in a while. My second time there and the guy behind the counter remembered my first visit and what I had ordered even though it had been two or three weeks. I can’t remember the last time I have had service that was this friendly. Combine that with two great meals in a row and super reasonable prices and this place hits a perfect trifecta. Hats off to Chubby’s for knowing their trade.

One of the big reasons I came here was for the burgers. They are a hole in the wall kind of diner and the burgers and fries are my favorite. If you’re wanting a break from Denny’s or IHOP I would eat here.

Great place! Well priced! Been coming here for years now. Menu has a lot of variety. Same quality food as its more expensive neighbor. — AKA Manny

This is my breakfast spot! Kids and wife love it too! Instead of toast, ask for a toasted bun… they make them fresh. Pepsi products are a plus… good prices. Lunch food is good too! Teriyaki burger!

This is one of those places that looks like a greasy spoon from the outside but the food is very good. Nothing super fancy on the menu rather, this is more like down home cooking like mom serves up. Good breakfast selection — omelets, chicken fried steak and more. Good selection for lunch to include open face sandwich’s and more. Place has a 50’s theme to it, lots of memorabilia tied to the early 50’s, Lincoln Highway and route 66. Serving staff frequents each table to ensure beverages are always full as well as to see what your other needs might be. Have not been in before 10 am, and I suspect that with the limited seating(probably no more than 18 – 20 booths plus counter seating) there may be a wait line outside the door. And to that point, I would say, stay and wait because the quality of the food, plus the service is well worth the wait.

I like this place but is seems like the past couple times I’ve come here the quality of the food and service has just not been as good as it used to be. The wait times are longer and the food does not taste as good. I hope they can get back to their old form.

Best diner in town. Great breakfast, burgers, and sandwiches. I eat here fairly regularly and have always been satisfied with the food and service. The Baja Baja and Be Bopper are my top picks and the onion rings are a must.

Nothing Special. The food was good, even though my avocado/bacon omelet had only a moderate amount of avocado on top, and none inside. And I was wasn’t offered a coffee refill until I had almost finished my meal and was getting ready to leave. I’ll try this place for lunch next time.

My favorite place for breakfast I enjoy getting the Yakity Yak which is Eggs Benedict… I like ordering it with bacon. Their sodas are huge. They also have great burgers. The staff that works there are always friendly and good.

We’ve gone twice for breakfast now and the food was yummy each time. The servers are very friendly and the food comes out fast. The place is small so we’ve had to wait about 10 minutes for a table each time(both visits were one weekend mornings so it wasn’t a big surprise). Looking forward to going back for dinner sometime.

Best French dip I’ve ever had. The garlic fries are amazing and the onion rings are out of this world. We have found our new spot!

This place was really good. I enjoyed this diner. Its looks and feels like a real diner. Its a blast from the past, I never lived in the 50s, but I would imagine a 50s diner would be like Chubby’s Diner. The service was GREAT! I like to ask questions to see if the waitress has recommendation and she did. I order the chicken fried steak skillet and it was delicious. I don’t like chicken fried steak but this was good! The waitress came back to see if I liked it and when I told her I did, she was proud. That makes me feel good that she cares what I thought. I tasted my wife’s food too and she had a turkey club… PHENOMENAL!!! This place is definitely a place to come and experience a real diner. Great job!

My new favorite spot for comfort food! OK so My friend and I were on mission culinary escapade on a Tuesday morning. We are both not a fan of chain restaurants but also don’t like being disappointed when it comes to out food. We were set on a diner experience and that is what we got. The place is small and mightnot look that promising from outside but go inside and you get blown away. It looks and feels like a diner. THEFOODOMGAMAZING! we were there just after 11am and it wasn’t so packed which was great for us, we got a nice table. We weren’t in a rush to order so the servers gave us just enough time between getting the menu’s, looking and finally ordering. I got the french toast cheese and ham sandwich(or was that bacon) with curly fries and an oreo malt shake. My friend ordered the Ricky Ricardo, waffle and mash and gravy. We were both happy with our food. Paying on the other hand took longer that it should, we got our check early but there was no clear indication of where we pay and servers disappeared for a while after they dropped the check. So that is why i give them a 4star.

New menu was a lot better. Would of had a 4star review but the cook needs to be fired. He hides all the Burnt food under other food. I got the breakfast burrito and it’s great till you get the few hours old hockey puck country potatoes that are black. Also I included a picture of the hours old hash browns under the fresh ones which was on all the plates.

This place would be right at home on Route 66. After getting into my apartment, having a central place to park, I decided to walk around town a bit. I found the bike trail, and walked north to Louise Avenue and back down Main Street. I was definitely ready for something to eat when I saw this place. There are quite a few unique restaurants in Manteca and this is definitely one of them with the 1950s theme and the metallic-look booth seats’ fabric. I suppose it was a bit after lunch when I arrived and I was a bit hot and sweaty, so I felt bad for people there. The server got me a menu quickly, and returned with a Mountain Dew for me. It seemed quite some time between«I need more time» and he returned. I can live with that. Being new to a town, I find that I need more time quite a bit. I got soup and salad.(I think on the receipt it said Kid’s Soup and Salad but I didn’t notice this on the menu. Maybe, it had to do with the sweat in my eyes.) When he returned with the salad, it wasn’t big, and that was exactly what I needed. It was fresh, although it looked as though some of the lettuce was discolored from being cut with a knife. The croutons seemed to be home made. The soup arrived and it seemed to be just as fresh and home made. I don’t know if it was truly the case or I was extra hungry, but it was good. The price was reasonable and the service was efficient and friendly. Update 2014.09.03: I returned with a friend because I was thinking about burgers. Of course, this is supposedly one of many places with«the best burger in town». There is a difference, though – my Mushroom-topped burger was very, very good. Service was pretty much exceptional, though it was in the late afternoon before the evening rush. You can see from the photos that there was quite a bit to eat. We didn’t need to eat anything else that day. The basket of fries was a good helping for just 50 cents more than the regular size. The buns were interesting. I’m not really a fan of bread, but mine had a good taste and was made well. The only thing that went amiss was putting the special sauce on the side – they didn’t add it to the burger and they didn’t send it out at all, but the sandwich was moist enough that I could eat it dry without a problem.
