Love it. Very cozy, affordable and good ice cream. My girlfriend and I walk here from our house and I am a huge advocate. Unfortunately they don’t take credit cards, but very kinds and helpful. Awesome local business. I used to drive all the way to orland park for similar experience. No more!

The owners are probably the nicest people you will come across. They are thoughtful and treat their customers like family. One thing to remember– CASHONLY! We have come to learn that when making a trip to PJ’s. This establishment is family runned. They have a great selection of ice cream. My son likes to try the nontraditional flavors and has his own combinations that he likes to mix up when we go. If you are eating your ice cream there, you are able to play a board game or put a puzzle together. Such a great place… definitely a secret that needs to be spread.

Pj’s is a cute, charming, hometown ice cream and coffee shop. You can’t beat $ 2.00 for a couple scoops of ice cream.

We are a big fan of the sweet tea and peach ice cream. Can’t remember the exact name. Hope they bring it back this summer when we visit.

I’ve been here twice and it’s amazing! A little while in the wall(literally) so had it not been for a friend I would never have known it existed! Thank you Kate! Great environment, plenty of board games to play, excellent to have a conversation and enjoy ice cream. I switch it up every time. Great selection

Why have I never reviewed this place you may ask? We’ll, that’s because I’m too busy eating the ice cream! The ice cream here is really really good quality ice cream, very creamy and very flavorful. They have a million flavors to choose from, from chocolate to mint to vanilla and everything in between! Not in the mood for ice cream? We’ll, you can get coffee or hot chocolate here to, or even a smoothie. My personal favorite is something I concocted a few years ago– a smoat. It is a small smoothie poured over 2 kids scoops of ice cream. It’s basically a float, but instead of pop, you get a smoothie instead. Despite the other reviews, the prices here are very cheap. $ 2.25 for a single scoop? You can’t beat that. Oberweis(or overpriced, as I call it) is ok, but you will pay three times as much there as you will here, and the ice cream here is three times better. When your done with your ice cream, stick around to put together a puzzle, play checkers, or socialize. Everyone here is friendly. To sum this up, you can’t beat this place. The quality, the price, and the atmosphere. If you come for the ice cream, you’ll surely stay for the fun!

Anytime I’m in the area, PJ’s Ice Cream is a MUST! I love the variety of flavors and the small-town atmosphere and family setting. I usually get the flavor, playdough, which is like cookie dough. Stop in and try it!

Our all time favorite ice cream place. Many flavors and fast friendly service. Paula always has fresh gourmet coffee on, and she makes great chili and soups to warm you on a chilly day. Many evenings you will find families coming in for ice cream and to play some board games. There is often a jig saw puzzle being worked on in the shop that everyone is invited to join in on. During the school year, and especially on weekends, you will find students from Olivet Nazarene University in nearby Bourbonnais, enjoying the friendly confines, ice cream, board games, music, and coffee. Yeah, they feel right at home here in this friendly place. PJ’s has great ice cream and a wide variety of flavors to meet anyone’s taste requirements. And now she has added Italian Ice for an added treat. The brand of ice cream she carries is smooth and excellent. I can’t wait to come back and have some more! And, while all that is find, the best part is that PJ’s is a family friendly place to enjoy all of this. You’re only a visitor here once — after that you are friends.

Best ice cream EVER! Better than the ice cream are the owners who are always warm and friendly. Stop by on a Friday night to enjoy card playing while enjoying your sweets!

Really quite good Ice Cream. Brand and flavor that you will never find anywhere else. I walked there from home tonight and called before I left to ask what time they close. The gal actually said, «Oh, 9:15 or 9:30 or so… later if you are here». Quiet, innocent little ice cream shop in quiet, innocent little town. The people that run this place are the nicest and what you would imagine an «Andy Griffith» town would be. Sit down and play checkers or put together a community puzzle in progress. Strike up a conversation with a few Olivet students, townies or seniors. No credit cards taken here, so bring cash.(Who pays for $ 4 ice cream with a credit card anyway. As far as prices? equal to any baskin robins or dairy queen and ten times better quality. Much better prices than Oberweis and even better quality too! At least they are one of the last hold-outs in town that do not have video poker gambling. They have three. no sugar added flavors and tonight I had all three. Cherry, apple pie, and moose tracks. You would not know they are no sugar added unless you asked. Two scoops was $ 4.25 and it was easily 12 oz of ice cream. I cannot think of better. My only improvement suggestion is to offer cold water rather than room temp water. I really need cold water after all that ice cream!

The ice cream is fantastic and it’s a great place to hang out but it is really pricey. I support it because it’s a small local business but I wish they would at least have some deals here and there :)

Headed south to check out the night sky and sought this place out after finding it on google maps. The atmosphere is awesome — Large groups of locals, old, young, skinny, fan, happy, and sad! They have 20+ board games to play, 2 checkers tables, and another 20 puzzles. There is a free cd exchange and books to read too. Oh back to the reason we went — Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam. Buterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham. If you set your mind free baby, …(oops song stuck in my head) Ice cream and coffee — The iced, mocha latte tasted like an iced mocha latte. It was in a fairly large glass($ 3.75). The apple strussel was out of this world good! The grapefruit gelato was not. There are a ton of flavors to try. Definitely worth the trip over if you’re headed south out of town.
