This was the first place I saw where a Starbucks offered pour over coffee. I am a recent convert to this style of coffee and was pretty excited about the prospect that a coffee shop as ubiquitous as Starbucks would carry it. However, my experience was the pour over was worse than even their regular cup of coffee. The girl making it set up a funnel contraption with my cup underneath. She measured out the coffee grounds, put them in the funnel, and literally dumped the hot water over it. There was no care or time put into it, and it showed with the watered down taste. The scone I ordered was also very dry and brittle, like it had been sitting there for a couple of days. The only reason I didn’t give this place 1 star is because it was very clean and a nice place to take a break from driving on the highway. Also, although the girl did not know how to make a proper pour over, she was very nice. If you must go here for coffee, get the regular drip. Don’t waste your money on the pour over kind.

For all of you Starbucks«snobs” — yes, this is NOT a «real» Starbucks but that doesn’t mean the staff there is any less deserving of respect, tips, and patience. They don’t get the same benefits as an actual Starbucks, they often are forced to work 10 to 12 hour a day shifts and the majority of the customers there are a**holes! Instead, it is owned by a company called HMSHost — so please, stop chewing out the staff here because«You don’t have Wi-Fi», «Whaaatttt, I don’t get points for adding a shot of espresso»??? or «I got this drink from another plaza location & it’s horrible but I expect you to fix it for free» crap that spews from the majority of peoples mouths. As with any franchise business, the staff doesn’t get to make the rules & the company doesn’t care what the customers write in their on-line surveys & customer comment cards. So the next time one of you decide to throw a hissy fit because you acted like one of the morons(if you type«Starbucks Rant Videos») on Youtube then your more than likely deserved the«bad» customer service you received!

This Starbucks is located in the Portage Service plaza on the Ohio Turnpike. It’s an oasis in the middle of a whole lot of nothing when driving between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. My coffee and the service that went with it were peachy-keen. Walking out with a delicious frosty Mocha Light Frappucino sans whip made the rest of my drive to Cleveland just a little more bearable. I would make this a regular stop if I had to make this drive a regular thing. Which, fortunately, I do not.

This is NOT a real Starbucks. I should have known since it’s in a road side center, but seriously, the coffee was terrible! Don’t waste your money.
