Stopped here with the wife and kid after a day of hiking and hanging at the beach. Glad we did, this place was fantastic. We ordered cheese bread and a few sandwiches(Clevelander and Big New Yorker), all of it was excellent. We’ll be back for sure!

We moved from NYC to Detroit. and now reside in gorgeous Up North Michigan on Grand Traverse Bay. And while I miss the NYC slice of pizza I grew up with, I have been forever changed once I met DETROITSTYLEPIZZA. Detroit Style brings me back to the days of sliding into a cozy booth at institutions such as Louis of Hazel Park. or Buddy’s on Conant… even Cloverleaf out by the shores. It’s about having an incredible 4 slice square pie delivered. with a crispy, buttery edged crust, a plethora of blended mozzarella and brick cheeses with an undeniable tasty sauce. Pepperoni slices curled and charred on the edges just right. Banana peppers(a pizza luxury we never saw the likes of in NYC!) Market 22 embodies all that is Detroit. They have INCREDIBLE Detroit Style pizza. They offer local/Detroit products and drinks(yay Vernors in real glass bottles!) They have amazing looking Ruebens that look like they could compete with with best(i.e.: Zingerman’s) & most importantly they exude that kickass attitude, friendliness and grit that you’d encounter any day in Eastern Market. or down in Hart Plaza. or at your local Coney Island. It’s Detroit. And it rocks. This is our new favorite spot for pizza in the area. I highly recommend visiting after snowshoeing or wine tasting or dune climbing up on the Leelanau Peninsula. It’s a true gem, to be treasured by all Michiganders.

Out favorite little café and store right next to our lake house on little traverse lake. The pizza, sandwiches and all are so good but I recently discovered their breakfasts and they are so good! Great caterers too we used them several times this past summer and our guests loved the food.

Finest pizza pie in northern Michigan. Trust me. I’ve sampled all of them over the last 40 years!

This place is the Bomb! A group of us stopped in after a trip to South Manitou Island for lunch… it was just what the Dr. ordered after being on the island for 4 days. We did not have their pizza… but had a wide variety of their deli sandwiches and would Highly recommend. It has about enough seating for 20 and has a good assortment of drinks and snacks. If you want a quick and simple place to eat and love good sandwiches and burgers it’s a must!

We are up in Glen Arbor from GR and Market 22 was recommended to us. We biked here with our family and are so glad we did. AMAZING! Gluten free options available. The chicken jalapeño soup is wonderful, not too hot. Sandwiches are delicious! Do not miss this place if you are in the area!

The Unilocal reviews drew us up the road to this newcomer to the summer scene in the Leelanau. We loved the country market vibe and casual farm tables scattered around the liquor counter and the serve yourself beverage cooler well stocked with craft sodas and beers — but, you can’t drink the beers here because they don’t have the license. Odd. We ordered the Greek pizza, thick with fresh mozzarella and creamy feta topped with buttery artichokes and black olives. The small 4-square was just too much for two of us. The crust was thick and lightly crisped while our boys ordered pizza burgers. Just«ok». The meal ended on an odd note though. No one showed up to bring us a check. After 15 or 20 minutes of waiting, we went to the counter and told the clerk what we’d ordered to check out.

What a great find! We are here twice during a recent stay in the area. This deli has a nice feel and great staff. I ordered the veggie pizza without cheese. It was loaded with veggies. I loved the Detroit style crust. My son ordered the BLT pizza and he was very happy with it. We went back a couple of days later for lunch and took friends. They ordered the BLT pizza based on my son’s recommendation. It was a winner. I had to special order a veggie sandwich without any dairy. They were very accommodating and loaded it with a ton of veggies. I highly recommend this great local place!

To be honest, we stopped in here looking for a bathroom on the way to Suttons Bay! What a great surprise! The food looked so inviting, we decided to make this our lunch stop. The menu choices were great, and the food was excellent! Everything here is homemade, and the GIANT cookie that finished off the meal was amazing! I wish this place was closer to the Detroit area. I’d make it a regular stop. They also have a large selection of beer and wine and a small specialty food store section. We didn’t try the pizza, but were told it’s similar to Buddy’s, and our conversation proved they know their pizza. Next time!

Market 22 is AWESOME! We need more places like this downstate! Everything we’ve had from here exceeds our expectations — pizza, sandwiches, you name it! The breakfast menu is top notch as well! It includes burritos, crepes, and homemade croissant sandwiches! Be sure to try their homemade sausage — it’s DELICIOUS! For the road(or while your there), they carry homemade pastries, and a great selection of Michigan made snacks. Not to mention, a large variety of Better Maid chips! They also carry a great selection of local beer, wine, and liquor! :) No alcohol consumption on the premises though. This will definitely be a required stop for us anytime we are in the area!

Sandwiches are fabulous and the deep dish pizza is as good as any I’ve ever had. Definitely worth the effort to get here for eating on site or carry out, just be aware you can’t drink alcohol on the property with your meal due to state law.

As a recent transplant to Northern Michigan, I’m all about supporting the locals. Market 22 is not too far from my house and they are a small restaurant, grocery store and bakery all in one.(Oh and they have a large assortment of liquor too!) I’ve had their lasagna and a pizza — both take out and both excellent. The pizza is «Detroit style» and the crust is awesome(awesome = buttery, crunchy and soft all at the same time). The lasagna was a very generous portion with a delicious sauce. Finally, I’ve tried a few items from their bakery and they are all so much better than what you can find anywhere else in Leelanau county. I highly recommend the platter sized cinnamon rolls. The track record for new restaurants staying open isn’t great but I really hope this one stays around. I’m only giving a 4 star rating because I haven’t tried enough of the different items on the menu to give it the 5 stars but I’m sure by summer they will be a 5 star place in my book. Support the local economy, try Market 22 if you’re in Cedar, Maple City, Glen Arbor, Leland or Suttons Bay!!! UPDATED: I changed this to a 5 star review because the food is consistently good, they’ve got the best pizza in Leelanau county and the owner and his family are great. For me, the go to item on the menu is the pizza, delicious!!!
