Delicious food and very warm, friendly service. Favorites are the tortellaci and the pesto. Shrimp Francaise and eggplant appetizer are also delicious. Great desserts(though not made in-house.) The best bread!!!

I used to really enjoy this place for good Italian foods however, the quality I think has decreased. My husband was trying to be nice and brought me home what used to be one of my favorites as a surprise for my birthday, the Insalata DeMar, a seafood salad. All of the calamari was in edible, hard and rubbery. The muscles in there, I question as to whether or not I will be sick tonight. It used to contain regular size shrimp, now it has salad shrimp that I can buy at the market for a dollar a bag. What used to be a neighborhood favorite for me is now on my do not go to list. I’m sorry to say Allegro, you have lost a customer.

I do NOT get the ratings of others whatsoever! First off, the décor is tacky, cheesy, and too dark, unappealing for sure. The pasta fagioli that came with my meal? Meh, not that great. My sons gnocchi in Gorgonzola were frozen(not fresh made) and doughy, pasty, sinkers and Gorgonzola sauce? Not really. For $ 16 that was ridiculous. I ordered a special, barramundi fish with lump crab meat and grilled vegetables. It was ok, the fish was cooked ok but the«lump crab meat»? A few sprinkles of meat here and there. The server did NOT state the prices of the specials(pet peeve, I should have asked) so when I saw it was $ 27 I nearly fainted. Are you serious? That’s more than if I were down in Philly! In the end this was an overpriced below average meal that continues to prove to me that suburban dining pales in comparison to city dining. Won’t return here and if you want good Italian food, you shouldn’t either.

Did you know that Sunday’s buy one dinner get the next half off only applies to parties less than 8? Neither did we and when we asked why the owner said it was his policy even though he could not show where. Our group of 8 orders independently from Allegro Grill several times a month. Well I should say that we did, because even though we didn’t all say it explicitly none of us will ever eat there again after the owner’s decision to deny us the advertised discount.

My wife and I have eaten there two times. Once was back in 2004. The waitress stuck us in the back corner and completely forgot about us. The meal was ok, but that night they had a loud musician playing and we couldn’t even talk to each other. The second time was about a week ago. The service is VERY slow there. The food was still just ok. Before our main entries came out, we asked for a second glass of wine since it took so long for our meal to arrive. We did not get the wine until we had almost completed eating our meal. SLOWSERVICE.

I went with a friend on a Saturday night and the place was jammed. The décor and ambience were very pleasant but the noise level was fairly high. I had trouble hearing the waiter describe the specials. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous.(The tiny glass of wine for seven dollars was not so generous.) I had the calamari appetizer and it was the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly prepared. The Pasta Fagioli soup that came with the meal was very good but had no pasta! My main course was pappardelle con salsiccia – home made wide pasta ribbons with a sausage and peas cream sauce and it was fantastic and more than I could eat. The staff were attentive and pleasant but seemed hard pressed to keep up with the large number of people they were trying to serve. All in all, I will go back to try some of the other temptations on their menu, but on a night when there isn’t such a crowd.

Was dragged to Doylestown, PA to see the in-laws this holiday season, so of course I was in need of a drink. We were invited to dinner here by my husband’s childhood friends. We arrived an hour earlier than the reservation… maybe I needed more than one drink… and sat at the bar. I could not believe my eyes. A DECENTWINELISTWITHDECENTPRICES!!! I am from Ft. Lauderdale, land of the wine mark-ups. Good wine for $ 8 a glass, I was in heaven. Started off with a nice glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. It was served in a nice and thin, big wine glass. YES, PLEASE. Finished that in ample time, and switched to red. Picked out a nice Pinot Noir, and was given a new glass, and started to swig it down, and yikes… who ordered the vinegar? Told the bartender, and switched it to Cabernet, and she poured me a nice fresh glass of cab. All of our guests arrived and we sat down for dinner. It was good, all the food was full of flavor and the portions were big, too. Our server was very nice and attentive and I was impressed that he kept his cool, because one the guys in our group was quite rude to him, I was embarrassed, but I guess that’s what happens when you live in boring old Doylestown, PA! I wonder if he ever saw the movie, «Waiting?» I am not excitedly waiting to go back to Doylestown, but if I ever did, I’d hit this place up again, for sure.

The first thing I noticed was the regular sized tables. It was great not having to write a letter to my food. Why are the tables so small and short. Nobody is that short! Thank you Allegro for catering to normal sized people!

I was here for a private event and I have to say, I really enjoyed my meal. The Chicken Pa rm was delicious and the appetizer we had was great– it was kind of a pizza but with no cheese but you could sprinkle Parmesan on it, yum mm. My table mate ordered the Pasta Primavera which looked delicious and was loaded with vegetables. The staff was great. Seating was good and the restaurant itself was cute. As a guest I enjoyed my time and meal.(parking was ample too)

Ate here for the first and last time. Chicken dish I had was supposed to contain sundried tomatoes and artichokes, found a couple of small pieces of artichoke, tons of onions and peppers, not a sundried tomato to be found. Every item on the menu had a complete description of what was supposed to be on it; no reason for me to expect onions and peppers. Also, the dish wasn’t very good, and waiter was nowhere to be found. Not again!!!

Went here with a group of 3 other couples for a great dinner out on a Saturday night. It was the first time there for some of us, but not all, which is where the recommendation came from. I was very happy we ended up picking Allegro for our dinner choice. We had the bruschetta and calamari as appetizers, both of which tasted fresh and very good. Even the little pieces of tomato pie that were given to us before the meal were great. I chose the whole wheat pasta with the pesto sauce which was amazing. It was a tad oily, which I know it’s supposed to be, but I felt like the puddle of oil that I left behind on the plate could’ve been a bit smaller. The ambiance in the restaurant is great, and even though it was packed, it didn’t seem to be that loud in the dining room, which is a plus for me. I will definitely be going back to Allegro again, hopefully soon.

We have been here a few times, most recently this past weekend we took a few friends with us. They were impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and the overall coziness of the restaurant. The one negative we had is that the service was very slow. About 20 minutes before we our drink order was taken. Everyone was very happy with the appetizers as well as entrees. There are not too many good Italian places in the burbs, so this is a great find if your in the mood for italian food.

Came in for a drink after work. The seats at the bar(about 12) were full, but not a single table in the dining room — it is an open space beside the bar — was occupied. We asked the hostess if we could sit at a table for a drink and she said NO. A completely empty dining room, and we can’t sit at a table to grab a drink? I will never go back to this place. Too bad, because they could certainly use the business!

Tonight wifie and I decided to do Italian at the Allegro Grill in Maple Glen. Great ambiance and a beautiful, relaxing, attractive décor. The great fresh water aquarium is also a pleasure to view. Entrees come with soup or salad.(Caesar if you choose) We were greeted graciously by the hostess and had a very kind and caring server. They immediately bring fresh rolls, butter, and small bite size pieces of pizza. Mary Ann decided on the lasagna. A oversized portion that she couldn’t even come close to finishing. Of course I had to sample her leftovers. Absolutely delicious. I chose a dish called Pollo e Bello. Sauteed chicken, portabello mushrooms and roasted red peppers, flamed with vodka in a blush cream sauce. Chicken so tender that you didn’t need a knife. Delicious, great portion, and very satisfied with my choice. The glass of cabernet sauvignon was a great start to a great dinner. On a 5 star rating I would give this restaurant a 3 ½. Not overly priced with gratuity the bill was $ 56.00. But keep in mind we did not do appetizers or dessert. Note: Only one small complaint. I am still trying to find a good Ceasar salad with anchovies. This was decent but the Romaine was chopped way too small. Just a step above diced. And no anchovies or taste of.

Good Italian food in the suburbs. The menu is loaded with tons of options(not necessarily a good thing) and the ambiance is large room feeling but the night we were there it was not overly noisy. The only item I would say was sub par was the fact that my mother’s food took a long time to come out of the kitchen. If you’re in the mood for some tasty Italian dishes in Maple Glenn, then this should be on your list. There are far better Italian places in Philadelphia, but for this area of the suburbs, it’s good.

This place is incredible. It is NOT Olive Garden. Flavors are subtle and truly delicious. Last night I had the Chicken con Carciofi — bacon, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, in a white wine and lemon sauce. Ridiculously good. Wines are very good and quite reasonably priced, by the glass or bottle. Paolo makes Allegro Grille a welcoming little piece of the Mediterranean. And we’re so lucky to have it right here in Maple Glen.

Have eaten here twice and stopped many times for a drink out our way home. On our recent visit we ordered Calamari appetizer Pollo con carciotti Polenta con ragu di carne Our food was excellent. The calamari was lightly breaded. Better half enjoyed her chicken dish, while my Polenta dish with sausage was great. Kitchen was slow on this and our previous meal, but if you’re not in a hurry it isn’t a deal breaker. Staff, especially bartenders, have proven to be consistantly friendly and make for a pleasant meal. Atmosphere suits us as well, low lighting and quiet — good for unwinding. In an area with a lot of Italian places, this is one of our favorites and would recommend.

UPDATE: I stopped visiting the Allegro. I felt that when they adjusted their prices for summer, they adjusted their demeanor(at least the bartender) toward the frosty. The food, I’m sure, remains good. I can do without the attitude. Sorry, Paulo. As soon as you walk in the front, both the ambiance and the aroma of great food meet you… and invite you in. This place rocks. Sitting at the bar, chatting with the staff and owner, really gives the feeling of being in Italia. The Zupetta and Polenta appetizers are incredible. The flavors and textures are beyond description. For our entrée, we had the gnocchi with grilled chicken breast. Awesome. Allegro Grille comes highly recommended. Good thing I live in Maple Glen.

Been here several times for a biz lunch and find that this place is underrated. Located in a busy area of town, it is easy to miss but worth a stop. It is a good Italian food bistro that has brick oven pizza, pasta, soups, sandwiches, etc. The pre-meal bread they serve is great… hot, crusty and made from Italian pizza dough so it is chewy. I ask for butter but you always get olive oil as well. The soups are outstanding and they offer the best pasta fagiolli soup I have ever had. Pannini sandwiches are excellent but the pasta dishes can be typical /average. I admit my sampling is only two so I could be wrong. Interior is Tuscan in style and they are fairy busy so they have a loyal local following. Worth a meal if you want Italian.

Food is better than Olive Garden, but that is not saying much. Management is not very kind if you try to pay for your meal with any sort of gift card, or certificate. Kind of depressing. But overall, better than the run-of-the-mill italian eatery. Don’t really see myself every revisiting this place.
