I love Joanns, one of my favorite stores. I’m a crafty person and I have two girl scout troops, so I shop here a lot! The Maple Grove store happens to be by my work, so I visit this one the most. I have been shopping here for a few years now and never had a problem until today. I actually had to interact with the store manager and she was a real jerk. Someone who should not have that job! She was pretty rude and didn’t help at all. I won’t detail it, but even the poor employee who was checking me out seemed put off by her. Unfortunate. Of course I will continue to go there, but I hope I never have a problem again.

I like this Jo-Ann’s because it is the bigger Etc. version, meaning more variety. It also seems cleaner than most of the Jo-Ann’s. I have really come to love their button selection. Prices are good, especially if you are on their mailing list and receive their 40% off coupons every week or so. The long longs could use improvement, but overall, I am usually pretty happy shopping here.

We dropped in to look around based on one we saw on the west coast. This seems to be one of their super stores, and it had a lot of stuff in it. We found some of the items we have be unable to find else where, so we know we will be back.

Jo-Ann Fabrics is loaded with nice fabrics, craft goods and jewelry making goods. Similar to Michael’s, Jo-Ann’s is larger, has more selection and of course, fabric. Additionally, Jo-Ann also offers a large variety of crafting classes for students at every level – from cake making to learning to make pillows or pajama pants, you can spend a small amount of money and improve your craftiness too. While I think that the selection and merchandise at Jo-Ann is great, the customer service at Michael’s is much better. I spent a lot of time in Jo-Ann’s wandering around looking for the items I came to purchase. After several(three separate) trips to ask employees at the customer service desk where the things I needed were, I was VERY frustrated. No one likes to roam a big box retailer, and feel like there’s no one on the floor to help answer their questions. The unwillingness of the employees to provide helpful service sucked. High marks for selection. High marks for variety. Lowest possible marks for customer service.
