Love love love National Camera! I am a professional photographer, and this is the only place I will go for my equipment needs. Here’s why: 1. The staff. They are very friendly, helpful, and above all, knowledgeable! Shopping here is not like shopping at Best Buy; most of the employees here are photographic professionals themselves, so they actually know what they are talking about! They are concerned about finding you the right products for your needs, not just getting a big sale. 2. Equipment selection. They have a wide variety of DSLRs, compact cameras, lenses, lighting, bags, tripods, etc. 3. Used equipment. Hallelujah, someplace I can trust that sells used equipment at great prices! I’m always hesitant about buying used equipment, but I know that the products I buy from National Camera will be in great shape and will work properly! I highly recommend National Camera!

Their prices are not that good(you will do better shopping on B& if you can wait a few days), but if you need something or need some in-person advice, or prefer to buy in-person, this is where you should go. The selection is not all that great, but I am someone looking for very particular«stuff.» A lot of their inventory is picture frames, key rings, camera bags and photo albums. All the lenses and cameras are behind the cash wrap. If you are looking for newly-released lenses, you will have to wait a few months for them to get it in. If you’re looking for used, old skool film equipment, they have like a graveyard of it! Not my thing, but to each his own. If you come here on the weekend, prepare to wait for an associate to help you. Customers can spend HOURS here — they even have a little play area for children. Their classes(beg. DSLR1, 2 and 3) are EXCELLENT. I took the series a while back and I am amazed how much they helped me. Typically I’m someone who can learn by reading a book or an online forum, but for some reason, with photography, it wasn’t helping me. I needed the in-person help and these classes were just the thing. Without those classes, I doubt I would’ve stuck with photography. A year later and I’ve replaced both my kit lenses, bought a very good tripod, speedlight, reflector and lord knows what else! Classes: 5 stars — they need to add more classes(advanced LIGHTROOM!) to their curriculum though. Knocking off a star because, well, it’s a B&M electronic store trying to compete with B&H/Amazon, and, hey, I always go for the lowest price so…

It is nice to be able to go to a store and have expert help. National Camera is one of those places. The sales person will help you choose a camera and explain how it works and let you try it unencumbered from security cables unlike your big box retailers. They also offer classes and give you some free classes when you purchase a camera from them. They display plenty of bags and accessories you should be able to find everything you need in one visit. My son enjoys the thomas the train table they have which allows me to shop without a restless child in tow.
